they are not friends, they appear together at public events because it’s mutually beneficial to both. they’re colleagues and friendly towards each other. in an album that’s very much about reclaiming a genre from white culture and shining a light on obscure/more unknown artists from the country scene, having a taylor swift feature would be tone deaf and a waste of space lol.
-
why would she affiliate herself with Taylor Swift when this is an album about a black artist reclaiming a genre from white opportunists.
-
it’s such a cool spin on the whole rollout concept. love this.

The cover doesn’t even need defending. Every designer I know of loves the cover regardless of being fans of Charli or not. Dua’s cover is far more atrocious.

what is that cover lmfaoooooo

Lana at Gucci’s Oscars afterparty in Beverly Hills, CA - March 10th, 2024

This woman is surreal. I really don’t understand what happened between the 2021-2022 period where she didn’t seem interested in the Hollywood lifestyle and going glam and now she’s everywhere casually dropping the best looks of her career. She’s always been that girl, either in full glam or street casual.- 76 replies

It’s too early, we’re gonna be sent into a downward spiral with an artwork being released 6 months before the actual release. I know I am.
-
each day i get obsessed with a different track. today is being all about the title track
-
we’re really gonna be robbed off a Zach Bryan collab and affair on this era, aren’t we?

I really didn’t connect with this album on my first listen but something drew me in to keep listening to it… I love it now. There’s a feeling of muted sadness permeating through the record that’s really appealing coming from a pop star of her status - generally (pop) artists go big or go broke with their breakup/divorce albums but this one is quiet, adult heartbreak. The one that doesn’t destroy you completely but lingers indefinitely. The title itself tricks you into thinking the album conveys a different message but once you realize it was inspired on the Eternal Sunshine film, the whole thing clicks. And sonically? She does Aaliyah, TLC, Mariah Carey, Robyn, Missy Elliott… all in a very cohesive package that sounds undoubtedly hers. Very very good record and a mature overview of one’s life crumbling. The Supernatural - The Boy Is Mine run is actually insane.

the boy is mine i can’t wait to try him lets get intertwined the stars they aligned the boy is mine
-

Take notes, Scammys made me laugh a little bit because these people showered Taylor Swift with awards not even the Grammys dared to. -
Love the video and the song is such an earworm. Super excited for this era.
-
i actually love the cover, it’s so late 90s/early 00s DJ musician coded. her Aphex Twin moment with a pop sensibility hence the strident like green. i love it and it would be a nice twist of color in my vinyl collection. also it’s so instantly recognizable and ties into the whole party scene type of advertising in terms of visual language… i can see the vision behind it
-
wait what i thought that was just the music video i can’t tell if this is a good or a bad review
-
is she releasing Von Dutch in 2 and a half hours or is it not a midnight GMT release?
-
she’s going for the Aphex Twin type of album covers and i love it actually lol
-
You have no clue whether or how much I’m attached to anything so…
-
lmao right? some of these girls are on the brink of something
-
Negatively dismissing HIFN as a “minor” or “side” project is so boring. Yawn.

My god. There is a culture of FOMO in the Taylor fandom that she actively and purposefully encourages in her messaging and it's always, always, always packaged in a way that makes the die hard fans think it's not a trick. And for the most part, it's actually tricks that give them something -- like having a secret song unique to each show of a tour. This is great and special for fans at each show, but it also encourages fans to seek out content online for EVERY show to see EVERY new moment - boosting her social media metrics. It also encourages fans-of-means to go to multiple shows and to spend thousands of dollars doing so. Part of what she achieves by all the secret messaging hinting at what's next doubles down on the FOMO culture - you have to stay ever-present in the Taylorsphere to catch them all, and you have to post about it online and discuss it with each other. Yes, it's lovely that it creates a community, but it creates superfandom and tricks people into feeling like they need to purchase every vinyl and every deluxe edition in order to qualify as a superfan. No one else does this. I completely understand how it's fun and exciting for the fans. But call a spade a spade, a capitalist a capitalist, and a woman seeking domination a woman seeking domination. This is absurd.
