Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
Alison by Slowdive replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
Jack hasn't ruined her career or anything like that lol, she's all good. But I think my view as to Jack + Chemtrails is that he didn't necessarily bring anything new to the table nor bolster or enhance Lana's songs. The strength of the collaboration on Chemtrails, in terms of what they can do for each other, was quite weak and a far cry from the inspiration and experimentation we saw happen on NFR. His approach to the folk genre just wasn't very interesting unfortunately, and I wish he hadn't been so self-assured as to think he could solely produce Chemtrails when his forte is more alternative pop. With him producing Chemtrails, the end product was always going to be watery diluted pop without any real grit (still love it though but we had some real, deeply emotive folky music from Lana's Lizzy and May Jailer era). Like Jack is def still responsible for his part as producer on the album -

i think articles like Billboard's will often deliberately write about work in a vague present tense so the subject can appear relevant/current. journalists know that people prefer to read about current or future work rather than past work. even just to insinuate that jack is still working with lana is interesting to readers -

i trust her tbh - we know the picsart selfie trio were a joke and she's never failed before in terms of album cover art (imo, even cocc was so fun, happy n iconic). i feel like there's potential for BB's cover art to be even better given that she's working w neil again - their work together has always been so considered, experimental, and meaningful for the album's overall concept -

Associate a Lana song with another song for whatever reason u find (sonically, lyrically, thematically, etc.) For example: Dark But Just A Game by Lana Del Rey and Glory Box by Portishead (or Get Free and Creep by Radiohead )

I'm thinking now that she might be expressing her fear of change - spring is a time of renewal and change and often positively thought about but in the context of love and relationships, it's a super hard time

someone tell boz we don't care if what he tells us comes to fruition or not. we know lana isn't the most decisive person - it's all subject 2 change. just give us what u got boz can even speak in riddles or be creative w the truth at this point and i'd still -

thanks for your q, I WAS BORN READY FOR THIS I am still conceptualising BB as Thunder + revenge btw Riders on the Storm by The Doors ride that thunder baby! or Revolution Blues by Neil Young (song written from the perspective of Charles Manson... "well I hear that Laurel Canyon's full of famous stars but I hate them worse than lepers and I'll kill them in their cars"...) or My, My, Hey, Hey (Out of the Blue) by Neil Young or Guinnevere by Crosby, Stills & Nash ("Guinnevere drew pentagrams like yours milady like yours" need i say more) or Speedway by Morrissey, tho associating herself w him would be unhinged to say the least ("all of the rumours, keeping me grounded, i never said, i never said that they were completely unfounded") -

sorry if controversial but i find the bruises thing kinda boring and like we shouldn't be too deep abt it to me it seems like it was part of the whole bad cover art joke, complete with diminutive symbolism -
