I've noticed that some people are both snobbish (they talk about other more artists like they are worthless) and delusional (Lana is literally music Jesus and other artists study and imitate her). I love Lana, but I don't see why people need to put other artists down to raise her up.

The Style music video was directed by the same guy who directed SS and I think it's a really nice video and has some lovely ideas in it. I really liked 1989 and can't really see how Lana directly influenced her (aside from Wildest Dreams). and all of Taylor's previous country albums went to #1 anyways

I don't think Lana had anything to do with it becoming a single: she ditched the UV era and Interscope only released it in Germany for a final money grab.

I hoped for maybe one or two songs that might fit in with the rest of the album, but always knew that it was very unlikely. Not delighted with Haynie's production - some tracks are great but they all sound the same. He over-samples as well, eg on Blue Jeans when he samples the shout literally every few seconds and he overuses certain effects far too much. One of the main criticisms of BTD was that the production sometimes went too far and was too overproduced (Dark Paradise, MDM). I prefer Auerbach as a producer because all the songs sounded different and unique but were cohesive sonically.

My nightmare is that HM will be a regression of Lana's sound. I will be disappointed if HM turns out to be BTD 2.0. All artists need to keep moving and developing their sound. Auerbach not being on it has pretty much destroyed my dreams for sick guitar solos.

Oh, we can't have the plebeian scum who listen to mainstream commercialised money-making trash like Nicki Minaj and Rihanna listening to Lana; who incidentally is quite literally the most iconic and legendary indie artist who's never whored herself out by performing on television or radio or doing photoshoots or other disgusting commercial stuff like that.

Good points. I was thinking of the worst possible scenario - it is highly unlikely she'll get dropped by Interscope. One thing I noticed was that even without doing TV/radio, Lana was making her life difficult by doing bad interviews and presenting herself as an unlikeable person. During the release period for UV, the actual buzz for the music was overshadowed by the controversial comments she made in her interviews (I wish I was dead already, feminism just isn't interesting to me, etc). A lot of my friends only heard from the media about how she was being a "morbid, depressed, abuse-glamorising anti-feminist" and didn't really hear about her acclaimed album.

i understand your point, but I also think UV did well because it was THE follow-up to the hit BTD/P. If Lana doesn't make an effort to promote HM, I fear that album sales will deteriorate significantly. It really is important that she makes an effort for HM.
