  1. fans caring about critics' ratings is just as cringe as fans wanting born to die 2.0 like lets just have something new & different. who cares how popular it is with the public or critics? it doesnt have to be the most groundbreaking thing in the world for it to still be new ground for lana.
  2. this is one thing that bugs me a lot about the piano ballad complaints. evwryone says chemtrails was all piano ballads but there's only a few. yes there are pianos in every song but if that's everyone's criteria for piano ballad these days then i have some bad news about born to die...
  3. i'd consider it more jazz/blues but blues and country do have a lot of overlap so we could still expect something likw that from lana on a "country" album
  4. yeah like i always found lana's music had a slight country tinge to it. even her older singing style around born to die had a bit of a country feel to it. and at heart she's a storyteller so both folk and country are natural for her. but we also know she rarely limits herself to one basic sound so i'm sure a "country" album would still have some pop & rock influences. like chemtrails was her "folk" album but tulsa jesus freak was like down-tempo pop and dark but just a game was kinda trip-hoppy and like idk exactly how to classify white dress or yosemite or the title track but those definitely aren't standard folk. so i imagine a country album would also have that kind of variety.
  5. girl how is it possible for every single one of your posts to be filled with such bad opinions? i like born to die as much as the next gal but like she's already done it!! no need to rehash it!! like i'm here for some more fun upbeat songs and i think we will get some but born to die lana is never coming back! luckily tho the album still exists and no one can take it away from you! and like modern country, are you serious? yeah old town road was fun but for the most part modern country is a stain on country music and the most cringe thing out there. old school country is actually high quality and suits lana. and old school country isn't keith urban, its like johnny cash and willie nelson and graham parsons. its loretta lynn and skeeter davis and tammy wynette. or like even a rock-country-gospel serve à la elvis presley or wanda jackson isn't so unlikely and that would still give us upbeat songs and classic lana vibes!
  6. i'm not invalidating anyone's trauma. i'm just pointing out that hwr trauma is tied to the religious institution and not jesus himself. like if lana was begging a preacher to help her it would be different than her begging jesus (a guy who canonically just hwlped people and wasn't hateful or cruel) to help her. we can't decide someone is bad just bc of how other people portray them.
  7. but was it jesus who specifically scarred you or was it other people preaching things jesus never said? that would be like saying lana scarred you bc people take things she said out of context and accuse her of supporting all kinda of ridiculous things even tho its so far removed from who she is. i feel like most people who have issues with the church could still appreciate jesus the man who spent his days helping poor & sick people instead of turning his back on them and helping sinners to improve themselves instead of condemning them.
  8. i feel like lana could potentially do a collab album if she saw it as good enough especially since she's almost done one a few times now. but if it did happen i imagine it would be less of a full proper collab album and more a lana album with jon batiste accompanying her for all/most of the songs
  9. i think its less about saving her from sin or eternal damnation and more about begging to be rescued from her rough life situation. like she has no one in real life to come rescue her and make things better so she's turning to a higher power bc there's nowhere else to turn. would it be more palatable if she was asking like a pagan god of some sort for help instead?
  10. i know its probably unlikely but if lana's next album was a collaborative record with jon batiste, i'd be over the moon. i could see it being jazzy like candy necklace and potentially a lot of other things too bc he's very versatile. but even just a few songs with him on the next record would be good enough.

in my city specifically i've never been able to find any tv vinyls but there's only one record store here and no other shops that sell vinyl (even walmart doesn't sell them in my city) and the record store here also only recieved 1 copy of evwrmore and by chance i happened to be there when the owner was putting it out and he even said he ordered 3 copies from the supplier but they only got 1. idk my city doesn't get a whole lot of vinyl. we can't even get albums on release day there. it is what it is.

i've never been able to find any of the taylor's version vinyls in person so i'm just nervous but i guess she'll probably restock it if it sells out anyway. i just get nwrvous about missing out bc i assumed she would restock evermore when the preorder sold out but she never did so i was lucky when i came across it in person or else i wouldn't have it

i'm not sure if i should just preorder it already or if i should wait to see if she releases more variants. part of me feels like she's very likely to release vinyl versions of the different cds which also seem to have different covers and i love getting special ones if theyre available but at the same time i initially didn't preorder speak now tv fast enough and it sold out and there was a couple weeks before they were restocked and before the other variants were announced where i was very sad thinking i missed out and i always feel more at ease knowing i already have a preorder waiting for me so maybe for peace of mind i should just preorder it

i think the problem with the album covers is the same as the problem with the actual recordings. she got everything perfect (or perfectly imperfect) the first time around so whether she's trying to improve what she did before or simply emulate it, it will never reach the level of the originals.

who do we think are gonna be features on some of the vault tracks?
  16. i think she just didn't have time and it was an obvious song to drop from the setlist since it was just a mashup then she ended up changing her setlist after a few shows anyway. i wouldn't read too much into it. if it was a new song, an insider or leaker would've known about it by now. and yeah if it was a new song that she put on the setlist she would've performed it by now
  17. how does it make zero sense? the intro to national anthem is almost exactly the same as the instrumental to bittersweet symphony and people have been taking about the similarities between them for over a decade and she's done mashups of her songs with other songs that share similarities before (like cherry & scarborough fair) and national anthem is always a crowd pleaser and bittersweet symphony is a hugely popular song so a mashup of them would be perfect for festivals so its much more likely than it being a random unreleased song that even leakers and insiders have never heard of.
  18. i'd say she more put the daddy stuff in her music to rest after uv but she worked with rick the most for hm and lfl so i don't think its related at all. if anything i think rick really helped lana usher in her more mature sound & lyrics (maybe it is bc he is so much older than her but it could be a coincidence since she continued this with jack)
  19. i think everything you said here is completely wrong. just bc lana used older songs doesn't mean she dropped her original concept bc they actually do fit into the concept quite well. no, they weren't written for this record but they didn't fit the records she was making when she made those songs so she put them aside til they did fit a concept. some were leaked but thats irrelevant since they were never officially released til then. its just like how yosemite was written for lust for life but fits chemtrails' concept better or how california and the next best american record fit norman's concept perfectly. and songs like black bathing suit and beautiful weren't outtakes so idk what that's about and they do fit blue banisters' concept if you keep in mind that the concept isn't just about her family, but about her whole life and what's important to her which includes her struggles with the media, not just her family. the album isn't sonically cohesive and can feel a bit messy but it definitely has a clear concept and still feels like a proper album. like when i play the album for non-fans who don't know a the history of the leaked songs and whatnot they don't see the album as a mess or lacking a concept. unpopular opinion but even tho i like ocean blvd more than blue banisters, i'd say blue banisters has a clearer concept and overall theme than ocean blvd.
  20. am i the only one who thinks its pretty obvious bittersweet anthem is just a mashup of national anthem and bittersweet symphony?
  21. personally i categorize her albums in groupings of 3 first group: aka btd uv second group: hm lfl nfr third group: cotcc bb dykttatuob so i do see the next album as being apart of another era in that sense.

the vault tracks sre the only thing that gets me excited for the taylors versions and the only reason i purchase the records. and yeah swifties act like if you listen to the originals you're betraying taylor but like she still makes money off the originals and there's plenty of artists who don't own their music but you're not expected to boycott it oit of aome weird solidarity

i only play the taylors version if i'm in the mood to listen to the vault tracks too. otherwise, i always listen to the original one bc its a classic and the taylors version one sounds so phoned in. like out of all her tv albums so far its definitely the worst imo.
