try to give the upcoming era a chance. admittedly her more recent albums have been on a much different level than her first 3 albums, but is the excessive amount of hate for the song really necessary? butterfly can be criticised in so many ways but it's a genuinely fun song and an improvement from a lot of the songs on love + fear. the lyricism isn't the best but it's the first single, i doubt it's going to be the best-written song on the entire album. the visuals, the sound, the production, and even the marketing are great. i'm not saying you can't dislike the song, but to dismiss an entire era because of the first single is an exaggeration in my opinion. also seperate the art from the artist. even if you dont enjoy the song, or the writing, or the era just isn't clicking for you, attacking her personal life, experiences, and relationships which she's been vulnerable enough to share is just not a respectful thing to do. you can express your dislike to a song all you like, but refusing an entire album you haven't even heard and bullying her is just hate at that point. it's music, there's no need to take it so seriously. it'll naturally resonate differently with everyone

i really hope the covers froot but 10x more dramatic and epic, that photoshoot and froots visuals have so muich potential. itd be hard to beat the already perfect og cover tho

you dont have to like everything she does, but the insults and the dragging her for the song isnt being a fan, its just being a hater at that point. you can criticise a song you don't like without calling her a flop or too woke or whatever insults twitters fixated on throwing around these days but why people still use twitter ill never get. full of biased lifelessness from stalkerish stans and haters who make hating someone else their entire personalities

the song is fine. its nothing too exciting but also you cant judge an entire song, or an entire album, or an entire era off a 20 second snippet. butterflys not my fav but marina has so much potential in this genre blend of upbeat electro-pop and ethereal, orchestral moments, that i trust theres gonna be at least a few great songs on m6

sure but if she didnt promote the single or album at all and just released them people would be calling her forgettable and lazy like they have everything shes done for the past couple of years. its creative, on theme, and served its purpose. it let people know marina is releasing soon, and thats all that really matters. it is just a marketing tool. and like other people have mentioned, the caterpillars are optional to take.

i really need to spend more time with fiona's music. i went through this really rough time which was when i started getting into fiona and that period really just feels like a blur looking back and honestly i don't remember any of tidal, wtp and em except from the first and maybe second tracks on each. i do remember idler wheel and bolt cutters (which i recently bought the aubergine vinyl of) and i love those two albums so much. i wanna get back into her earlier stuff again but just haven't found the time
