    MARINA (and The Diamonds)

coachella wonder what she will do for her set...
  2. Teamsters withholding their endorsement for the first time in decades should have been a HUGE wakeup call for dems. Dems squandered their union/labor support and Republicans swooped in to add them to their base. The democratic coalition needs to be rebuilt from the ground up now cuz all that's left is college educated coastal elites and even their support feels lukewarm at best
  3. yeah but the government who's supposed to hold trump and elon accountable for stuff like this is entirely populated by trump's cronies at this point so it doesn't matter
  4. while a national abortion ban is definitely in the realm of possibilities i personally think it's more likely they'll just leave it up to the states. people voted overwhelmingly in support of abortion rights this year even in red states. we'll have to see how states rights on these issues pan out, and i think this will also pertain to things like obergefell. the biggest obstacle to the conservative agenda right now is trump's inevitable plan to just rob the government blind and make it completely unable to enforce any kind of regulation
  5. january 30 2020 contemplating whether i should quit my job and finally write the thesis i was procrastinating on for 1.5 years (i eventually did!)
  6. the only place spoiler candidates made somewhat of a difference was michigan. even if all the 3rd party votes miraculously fell in line with the democratic party harris still would have gotten trounced. establishment dems are pointing fingers at 3rd party voters & trans people & arabs... their lack of introspection and awareness in general is pathetic and (aside from the economy) is undoubtedly one of the main reasons they lost
  7. Millions of people in California voted for harris while also voting yes for slavery
  8. meanwhile, dems coalition fell apart because they wanted to include progressives AND fascists also concerning is the revealed demographic trend of gen z men leaning conservative. the kids are not okay y'all..
  9. she was doing great when she was kamala brat, calling republicans weird, etc. there was a huge surge of momentum behind her in the summer. then i guess a protestor made her mad or something and she fired all her gen z campaign interns and called in biden's grey-haired campaign cronies maybe she was doomed to fail because of the economy. but if she kept up her initial messaging she could have maybe rode a steady wave to election day and stood somewhat of a chance
  10. the trump coalition somehow shoring up support from both nazis AND zionists is c r a z y i have no doubt he will continue to support the US's top ally in the region. but like, will the nazi wing of maga just be like yeah haha israel!
  11. in theory the supreme court could use the shadow docket to issue an emergency ruling that changes a state's election result to one that favors trump. and you're right that the supreme court has increasingly abused their super-majority to blatantly implement the conservative agenda on a federal level. but also the supreme court is more and more conscious of public perception of their appearance right now than ever and i think this is going to be what restrains them from implementing a full-on coup via the shadow docket. like if the case republicans bring to the court is so weak that it's incredibly obvious that the 6 conservatives justices are just overthrowing the will of the people... i don't think the american people will just stand aside and let this happen. and that's something the conservative justices are increasingly aware of ever since dobbs. also democrats undoubtedly have some kind of contingency plan for republicans' legal challenges, potentially one that uses the president's new powers of prosecutorial immunity, so i think we will likely be hearing about the election results well into december depending on how slim the margins are.
  12. yeah but in the event we have another bush v. gore the inevitable litigation is gonna drag this out for weeks if not months to come
  13. honestly i don't really know? it's all very opaque and the official virginia website hasn't really told me anything. a local news site i found says that they start counting everything on election day, so perhaps all hope is not yet lost.
  14. i'm an american overseas, registered voter in virginia. i put my absentee ballot in the embassy's drop off box in early october and i still haven't heard anything about my vote being counted i guess my vote was suppressed. hoping VA keeps its solid blue streak this year
