I would love to see all of you people at one place and make you a dinner and we could eat, drink and hang out until the morning...

@@butterflies, are these filled with jam? If so, you just totally made me want to make some. And that's what I'm going to do once this post is finished. Besides, I kind of envy your ability to pull off an actual hairlflip. Also, @@SitarHero, for whatever reason I began to see in drag, dressed as Barbara Walters. I hope you don't mind my little mental cinema there.

Sounds like he thought a lower-than-low-quality YouTube rip of "Video Games" would save the "sample" from being credited. By the way, this is as horrible as the sample quality.

First of all, my knees are getting weak hearing this electric piano play throughout the song. I really am a sucker for electric pianos. They sound so cute, yet seductive in opposite to their intangible and majestic sounding ancestors: acoustic pianos. Why did they have to use a (sampled) acoustic piano in the outro?  I think this sort of mirrors Lizzy Grant(/Lana Del Rey), though. Cute, yet seductive. I'm not sure but are there two guitars playing? One acoustic guitar and one electric guitar? Do I see a patter there?

Let's just say... if I were Twin Peaks' Audrey (in drag), I'd want this song played by that jukebox. And I'd certainly dance away like this, get lost and stumble over something like I usually do. "On Our Way" is totally an 11pm "let's just play one more" jukebox kinda song. It's not necessarily the kind of song that would make me stay. Rather the kind of song I'd listen to before leaving, but one that stays in your ear while you're driving through the dark forrest surrounding Twin Peaks. It has this "we are on the way" kind of quality to it because, well, we are "On Our Way."   Sure, not necessarily physically but I really get this traveling vibe from it.

As for its lyrical content, I think @@lola pointed that out really well. There is quite nobody else that could get away with something like this, because it is Lizzy Grant/Lana Del Rey/You Name It through and through. Yes, I cringe so bad when I hear your random YouTube girl do a guitar cover of a Lana song like this. Because n o! I don't see this girl do anything mentioned in the song. I just don't because it's a Lana Del Rey thing to do. End of story.

I really love On Our Way, I think it's a great example of one of the main reasons why I love Lana. She's not really a genius poet, singer or guitar player (heh) but her lyrics are extremely personal. And not only because of how much she opens up in them but how much personality they show. I don't think a lot of songwriters could get away with writing about Chevrolets all the time or picking up cheap lip gloss form K-Mart but I like it with Lana because I know that's her whole style and every time she mentions little things like that I feel like I'm getting to know her more and more. This probably one of the reasons why I don't like people covering her songs, it just sounds weird hearing some random girl on the internet say things only Lana would say. I think there are a lot of musicians who are either great poets or who have mastered their instrument but I'll never be nearly as invested in them because they don't show any personality in their songs even if they objectively are talented.

Thanks to the thread I've rediscovered this song. Well, not exactly the song (I play it quite often on my mp3 player) but the video, actually I've never watched it before. Never tired of watching beautiful Lizzy

The lyrics... Well, if Lorde knew this song, she might call it the most "anti-feministic" Lana song:

OK, I'm stopping to hammer that point of view. But being serious now, to be honest I personally dislike these lyrics a bit. Don't know why but somehow they bother me more than "You Can Be The Boss" D:

The rest of "On Our Way" lyrics is finest.

I remembering touching on this way back on ldr.fm! Wow. Well, I tend to group On Our Way and NLMG because both are more organic instrumentally and hopeful love songs. OOW reads more as an anthem so NLMG kind of acts as the more subdued other side of the coin. The more songs that leaked caused me to separate the two in my fanmade albums, though. I ended up placing OOW with happier counterparts and keeping NLMG with sadcore songs--perhaps because it seems a lot more fragile.

"On Our Way" is one of those songs that I sit back, play and just listen to despite whatever mood I'm in. It grows on me every single time I listen to it... (Dare I say it's one of her more underrated songs?) The guitar chords are so soothing and relaxing. The discrete drums and outro piano as well for that matter, but what I like the most is her experimental voice pitch changing throughout the song (most notable at ~1:25 "Take me to the K-Mart", ~1:32 "How? You get so hot?" and ~1:38 "You're making me crazy".) I also really like to lip sync the "Spin me round kiss me in your Chevrolet"- part because it's such a Lizzy G. thing to say

Mine is tagged 2010 with the producer Justin Parker. I have two versions of it; one being the final version of it I presume and one acoustic demo. Correct me if I'm wrong!
