i haven't read through this entire thread yet but i was wondering did lana orchestrate the robbery? i mean, she probably knew about the bachelor party and told her bf about it or something. is that supposed to be the interpretation? because there were quick intercuts w/ her staring into the camera while shaun was pointing his gun at them

i don't think its straightforward in intent, only in story. like yea, big bang, garden of eden, stripping, robbing, garden of evil, redemption, etc you'd have to be retarded not to see the *main* points but what i don't understand yet is her voiceover, the john wayne monologue(s), etc. i understand the footage but i haven't gotten the underlying message yet like how do those particular excerpts from howl connect with the various scenes? what is she trying to say? is she saying anything at all? i haven't really had an opportunity to sit down and connect the dots (if there are even any to connect) since i just got back from LA but i mean, i guess thats ~art is it simple or is it more complicated than it seems? people w/ a more simplistic outlook will find it simple, others maybe not so much. but whatever i need sleep

so i was able to hand her a note. i wrote at the end: "come to lanaboards.com if you wanna observe a more concentrated brand of infatuation" i gave it to her in this little pouch i found at a vintage store in LA. it was perfect cause she used tons of clips from the NY world's fair in several of her gramma videos i hope she actually reads it. i think she's likely to since no one else was handing her stuff, whereas at concerts people are literally tossing piles of shit at her

there was kind of a monologue through the entire thing; like it was just her reading excerpts from howl during the different scenes. there weren't any ~personal monologues about her life or anything like in ride, and no dialogue which is largely why I'm a bit disappointed none of the songs were remastered either from what I could tell and the also the score for tropico was done by dan heath. it was beautiful but still not as good as the ride strings

I'm waiting in line now for the 10:30 show I went to grab food after the first one and came back to see that there were already like 100+ people in front of me what the fuck fucking shitheads The film is very ... abstract, in terms of story. that's kind of all I can say right now I'll write more when I get back to the apt cause I wanna see it again. I was kind of overwhelmed by the visuals and her announcement and my anticipation so I didn't fully grasp onto everything she was saying in between songs (I think most of it was from howl though) I liked it, I didn't really love it tbh I think I might have expected too much. Ride was more beautiful in terms of pure cinematography IMO but once I get a chance to read a transcript or something my opinion might be a little more positive
