it's better than the original because i don't have to hear "stranger than a stranger" yet it still sounds just as hot -

me: [silently waiting for the "My Impact" post by InTheSummer] -
What sort of aesthetics/mood do you think epitomize Lana's different eras/years? For instance, Born to Die was very glamorous and emphasized the fragility and desire of a woman, while Ultraviolence was a lot darker and raw.

LIFE IMITATING ART AKA HAUNTED BY LANA DEL REY
Stargirl replied to AngelHeadedHipster's topic in Lana Thoughts
Blue shopping bag, cold cuts divine, off-brand cologne, waiting in line. Cheap candy bars, self-checkout lines. The aisle were cramped and dirty. Where have you been? Where did you go? You left for Target long ago. So did the girl you used to call the queen of Walmart Supercenter.- 105 replies

I honestly read so much scifi so I'm so hear for Lana Del Queen of Mars rn. Just imagining Lana wrapping the American flag on the moon around her shoulders and making out with Elon Musk on his spaceship. -

She'll be the first actually-hologramed celebrity and we wont even know when it happens. About 5-15 years later, when NASA makes it to Mars, they'll discover Lana on a lawn chair lying out in the excruciatingly unguarded solar rays while drinking thawed out Mars water from a martini glass. It will be unclear how she is capable of such a feat. 5 years later, Lana drops a vaporwave album that consists her moaning over 1990s weather channel music. 3 years after that, she announces another short film where she is paired with Elon Musk and Jesus on a SpaceX spaceship. 5 years even later, Lana announces at a breakthrough physics conference that humanity has discovered unlimited energy. And even then, with unlimited energy, Lana still hasn't released the short film. With unlimited energy, medical technologies are no longer costly to produce, and mankind produces permanent life extension drugs. Lana, after taking these life extension drugs, allegedly tells Rolling Stones magazine that she "still wishes she was dead already". -
Lana is an alien stranded in Marfa, Texas going through a metaphorical metamorphosis from stranger to familiar by making her life a work of art.
-
To me, this looks like truck driver Lizzy on the road for too long without having a good, relaxed smoke somewhere in the middle of Texas while blaring Bruce Springsteen on the radio and looking for her place in life.

she looks cute tho like a 1970s brady bunch ass teenage girl

me when i see drama b4 i post the chicken gif

Honestly, the video made me think of Lana as a sort of deity separate from the women and the men. Perhaps like the leader of a group of sirens or something? But she existed in her own world, a world without color and with synchronization and constant observation. Maybe she's an alien and she's keeping tabs on all these underwater girls and shirtless guys like they're a zoo exhibit.

FACIAL ATTRIBUTES ASIDE [coughs]... does anyone else think that Lana is sort of playing into the "Lonely Queen" archetype again? Like, here she is in paradise, watching the boys and the girls on a wide screen, listening to music and apparently observing flamingos, but everything is black and white because the paradise she's trapped in is lonely and cold. She's spent so long playing the boys with the tricks of the girls that she truly has no one. She doesn't know how to love a boy anymore. But the girls are the only glimmer of light because they have lies akin to her own and they understand. That's why I think parts of the video are black and white. And playing into the "sinister" descriptor... maybe the sinister vibe I see comes from the fact that playing with boys' hearts is all she has left. All she can do now is observe and manipulate, so she makes it fun and smiles a bit.

when im without you it's like mtwbt in black and white
-
From my knowledge of Lizzy Grant she can maintain a cute smile like that while saying "Is it wrong that I think it's kind of fun when I hit you in the back of the head with a gun?" so I still think her intentions could be dark, haha

SINISTER! Exactly! Lana is manipulative and powerful and keeping a tab on all these boys. Controlling them with secrets for eternity. This isn't a dark song for Lana herself because she knows exactly what she's doing and it's thrilling for her. The tone is darker for the subjects of her heartbreaking. (or at least that's how I see it)

Where do you see that screen? I just see "This video could not be found" in blue text from Vevo's website
-
Lana: [makes a cinematic masterpiece with real tigers and fireworks and it's all on Mars] Lana: [compresses file, puts on 7 filters, lowers sound quality, cuts the screen in half] perfect
