Freak Music Video Premiering February 9th
Stargirl replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in New Releases
I'm honestly not sure if those of you saying things like "That was her best video ever" are serious or not... Like, no shade, Lana can do what she wants, she has no obligations to us, whatever, but this video was almost 0 effort. There's no meaning in it. She made the video probably based on obligations from her company and any meaning that existed before is for Ultraviolence. And again, that's fine, but this video isn't even trying to be her best and yet some of you are pandering so hard when in reality, Lana probably doesn't expect you to. And the footage wasn't that bad. I'm not saying that. But it was completely devoid of meaning relating to Freak or any sort of narrative because it's literally not for Freak. -

Literally, if the last 5 minutes with the underwater girls weren't there and the video was just 3-4 minutes, I would really love it, but I was so underwhelmed and frustrated after Art Deco didn't play (or anything happen, for that matter) that I wasn't even pleased with the first part after watching. The first part is okay, though. Like High by the Beach caliber. Not amazing, but it was nice. -

Am I the only one who likes that lyric? Like when someone is aiming a gun and their emotions are all at once cold and avoiding emotion, but still unavoidably uncertain. And, of course, alluding to the fact that the gun itself is probably cold if it hasn't been fired yet. -

Barrie-James O'Neill Says Lana Broke Up With Him Via Interview
Stargirl replied to Macintosh Manhattan's topic in Latest News
illerminati "it's not simple it's trigonometry" theory: lana broke up with him because Grant was programmed with a number of personalities; May Jailer, and Lizzy Grant to name a few. She performed in clubs, under the names of multiple personalities, and even recorded a demo album in 2005-2006 under the name, May Jailer. At age twenty, Grant signed a music contract, the album was shelved. Years later Grant, signed to the Indie label, 5 Point Records. While on the label, Grant released her first album Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant. Even though marketed by her father, the album tanked so badly was removed from iTunes. Grant brought herself out of the record deal, her team scrubbed the internet clean of anything Lizzy Grant, and Grant was reprogrammed. Grant reemerged a year later with her hair dyed (a trigger symbolizing a switch in her personalities) going by a new name; Lana Del Rey, showing the singer was either reprogrammed, or her handlers called on a personality not used before. Grant is due to be a puppet for the rest of her life, but has been one long enough to know how to survive. She seduces her handlers to make them love her, rather than abuse her like other puppets. She knows that if she ever tries to break free she’ll die, so she wont fight back. She’ll just ‘ride’ it out (no pun intended). After the song ends another monologue begins. She is shown crawling with her handler, then fooling around with all of her handlers in different settings. Her behavior is rather animalistic almost cat-like as she says ‘Be wild’ yet again showing her Beta Programming. She is shown holding a gun, aiming it at one of her handlers. Possibly symbolizing Delta Programming otherwise known as assassin programming.- 59 replies

I can't believe it when people list Body Electric as one of their top 5 least favs. I cannot understand, I fucking love Body Electric. I love in the ending where it sounds like the chorus intensifies and how it fades out with that incredible instrumental where she sings "I sing the body electric, baby x3" and the third time she goes baaaaaby. She honestly sounds like a goddess in the song. And as you said, robotic and distant, but almost, to me, in an "apathetic goddess" sort of way. Reaching back to the context of Tropico, I imagine the singer as being the "Mary" figure who was watching over the Garden of Eden and sort of nonchalantly watching their downfall until the end of the song, where she intensifies when she realizes that Adam and Eve/humanity have truly gone astray and that that's actually heartbreaking.

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Honeymoon. Its 19th-month: to explore muddy trap beats, to seek out new outfits at Walmart and new civilizations that remind her of LA, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
