tbh the deluxe tracks dont really fit the album for me and i hate that she put them at the beginning
-
As of 2020 she was unable to name who her manager was so I still think the overall delay has a lot more to do with her than the label, and she also just didn't want them to profit off what she saw was only "her" art.

Sky would have needed to turn Masochism into the label for it to actually be "gone". It doesn't seem that Masochism ever really existed in a a physical sense. Songs like Downhill Lullaby, Don't Forget, Descending, etc. were recorded and intended for it, but it doesn't seem like the album was ever completed or even put together. As far as ownership rights, she signed as a 15 year old who was singing Bloodshy & Avant demos so it's likely that whatever deal she signed did not include her owning her masters. She would probably still be able to use the name Masochism, since the label doesn't own conceptual album titles. Assuming that she does not own her masters it most likely means they're owned by the label (as is most cases when the artist doesn't own them), however, that enters a kind of weird (legal) grey area. Capitol would technically have the rights to any songs she wrote/recorded during that time, however, the label would only really have claim to the songs that she turned in (this would include rough demos), meaning if certain songs weren't played live before she left, and were never sent to the label, she has plausible deniability on whether she made them "after". Because this is a legal grey area, most labels don't bother chasing down artists for those songs because its not worth the money in legal battles/optics. There's also the case of Tinashe who hired an entertainment lawyer after RCA finally approved release of Joyride in 2018 after four years. The album tanked and she recorded a batch of songs with Hitmaka for a project called Nashe which RCA said they wouldn't release. The entertainment lawyer (who I believe was a UCLA professor, like her dad) was able to negotiate (with the threat of a lawsuit) that Tinashe was able to leave the label with those songs, which eventually ended up on her independent release, Songs For You. I guess my point here is that those songs could be gone, but they also might not be. That may be the reason she stopped playing the new stuff live, to cover her ass from the label when she does drop them. I'd say Downhill Lullaby and Don't Forget are probably gone though. I would maybe throw Descending in there but who knows that might be safe.

SOS + LANA is close to Solana is all i can think of but idk

Sam and Twiggy are like her day-to-day "managers" who like manage her schedule and travel and manage ELIO and those other artists with her, but her actual artist management has been with Brandon Creed since early 2018. He's actually largely responsible for getting her on a good page with Atlantic and getting Troye (another client of his) on 1999. I also think Lizzo was a client of his at the time of BIOYL but isn't anymore. Creed also manages Mark Ronson which was a big factor in getting Charli on the Barbie soundtrack that he was executive producing.

I want her to do a 7" pic disc of them so bad

Since the day uv dropped, I always dreamed of an album of Flipsides and Cruel Worlds made by just her and Blake
-
Sorry I tried to look back through but what year/era is Nosebleed from? Crash/post-HIFN sessions?
-
Please don't leak anything new, she's still developing music for Mother Mary and possibly other projects outside her album so I don't think it's a good idea to assume anything thats not for the album is "scrapped"

i've said something along these lines before but this fanbase is so miserable, like its the same thing every time she releases anything that's not AG_PC_beat_v426 because some of you see her as a vessel for his production and not an actual artist herself. Anyways I like the song, i'm a sucker for a piano house beat and I really like Sam's ad-libs in the final chorus, but my one critique is that the song itself feels pieced together and a little choppy,. like the struggled to get the first chorus, post chorus, and sam's verse to flow right. I hope it gets the remix treatment I'd like to hear what some DJs could do with it.

the sheer amount of you who are already complaining about the album despite her personally saying, numerous times, that In the City is neither for the album nor does it represent the sonic direction of the album

here yall go with this sh*t

Charli having to make a tik tok apologizing to Sam for the hate comments her fans are sending them aren't you guys kind of embarrassed? https://www.tiktok.com/@charlixcx/video/7290956498161749281?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7157769477512463914

please god just lock this thread

i think they sound fine on it, i don't really see the issue if its not for the album? id rather her do the commercial feature on a one-off between albums, especially if it keeps the label happy and they continue to let her do what she wants on the actual albums. seems like a pretty smart career move actually.

Cant tell if I just need to tune my setup but did anyone else's vinyl sound more like the unmixed leaks than the final mix thats on streaming?
-
The snippet sounds like a cute dance-y house inspired song and honestly Sam Smith's voice sounds good on uptempo dance songs so I'm actually kind of fine if there's a feature and its them. Plus they do numbers on UK radio so it will (hopefully) get our girl going into 2024 and her new era with two UK radio hits (speed drive being the other)

My understanding of it is that Ava was dating Cirkuit (her producer) and her best friend and co-writer was Madison Love, back to when they were in NYU. Apparently Cirkuit and Ava broke up and now Cirkuit and Madison Love are dating, which is why Ava was posting all those betrayal ig stories. Cirkuit is Luke's production protégé, is part of prescription songs, and has produced a lot with Aaron for Kim, so it's likely that Aaron is just speaking as a personal friend of Cirkuit, and Kim probably isnt involved at all since Aaron and Kim don't really seem to have any kind of relationship anymore.

Is there any tea on that alleged song with Sam Smith?
-
I'm sorry but like in 2020 Sky was on Not Really and didn't even know who her manager was like its not her label that's the issue here
-
The problem is that artists aren't in control of when their material gets released, it's the label who ultimately decides whether or not to release.
