An album title announcement! Now all we have to get through are 2 more title changes, 3 indefinitely postponed release dates spanning two and a half years, and 10 snippets of songs we'll never get (9 because we'll never get Guardian)!

Cherry, Kill for Love, I Can Never Be Myself When You're Around, Lady, Running Up That Hill (Cover), and I'm On Fire (Cover) are probably the most easily digestible of the songs. I think one of the biggest turn offs for people is Ruth's voice, but it grows on you

While I enjoy the SOPHIE stuff, Charli is an amazingly talented songwriter, True Romance had some of the best writing I'd seen in awhile (minus CA and So Far Away) and I wish she'd get back to at least showcasing her real witting skills, not her "written in 30 minutes" hit technique that seems to yield one hit for every five horrific songs

I was actually the opposite (found Glass Candy after Chromatics), and while I enjoy some Glass Candy tunes, I not nearly as devoted of a fan as I am of Chromatics, although I seem to enjoy everything put out on the IDIB label! Also as a vinyl collector its so nice because they press everything they releases and they do it on really cool colored stuff and I have a ton of signed stuff from all the bands

They've been one of my favorite bands for years!
I never thought to make a thread for them just because I didn't think many people would really take a liking to them here. But it's really cool to see another fan.

I think the first Chromatics song I heard was their Running Up That Hill cover. It's still one of my favorite songs. I also really really love Mask. I'm SO excited for Dear Tommy. Kill for Love was amazing, idk everything they've done has been really wonderful. Even some of the stuff before Ruth + Johnny.

Johnny Jewel is a genius tbh. I found Chromatics after Glass Candy. Do you like them too?

I feel like you guys could get into them! They've really been one of my favorite bands for years. They make GREAT music. It's really really good. Nothing like Charli or Sky or Marina though, but I mean if y'all have taste I'm sure you'll dig it.

If you're willing to get into them, definitely listen to these songs first....

Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush Cover)
I'm On Fire (Bruce Springsteen Cover)
    Kill for Love
    Mask
    Dark Day

Lol now that KillForLove has made the thread I'm like taking full control of publicity. #mess

    Chromatics

Chromatics is an American electronic music band from Portland, Oregon that formed in 2001. The band originally featured a trademark sound indebted to punk and lo-fi that was described as "noisy" and "chaotic". After numerous lineup changes, the band began releasing material on Johnny Jewel's "Italians Do It Better" record label in 2007, with their style streamlined into a synthpunk-Italo disco indebted sound. Several of the band's songs have been featured in television series, their track Tick of the Clock was featured in the film Drive (2011), and most notably their song Cherry was sampled in the Schoolboy Q hit, Man of the Year. Chromatics were also invited by Karl Lagerfeld to play the Chanel Spring Summer 2013 fashion show in Paris in early October 2012.

Fire whoever was working the soundboard for her Coachella set. Seriously she had to do half the set without an in-ear because it wasn't working, she pulled it out after the third song. And don't even get me started with how Elliphant's mic was basically turned off for One More. She handled all the issued like a champ tho. Poor MØ, she can't catch a break with sound issues, first SNL now Coachella

Super Ultra was incredible, such amazing production (most of the instrumentals were already released songs by their respective "producers") and such a fresh sound. True Romance definitely followed up on that "fresh sound" but was more pop centric (in a very good way) where SU was more experimental (which is the purpose of a mixtape). Cold Nites was so amazing, and after listening to that, How to Dress Well quickly became one of my favorite artists, I actually tweeted him casually a month ago saying they should work together again and he favorited it so at least one of them is open to collaboration! Sadly I don't think we'll ever get anything like SU or HB&EQ again as commercial success seems to prevent artists from doing things like that

    you are a sinner

glow, cold nites, heatwave, and velvet dreaming are SO GOOD. my favorite of charlis songs probably. tbh heatwave and glow should have been extended and put on true romance to replace black roses and cloud aura.

agreed. or at least one of them.

He has a pretty weak live voice imo
If he sang with the strength of his vocal take in the record it would be far better

While I really enjoy both Youth Novels and Wounded Rhymes, I think I Never Learn is by far her best work. Not only was the songwriting incredible, but the production was so beyond gorgeous. Listening to it for the first time when it came out, every song felt like one of those timeless power-ballads that you had listened to on AM radio in the car with your grandparents, they just sounded so familiar yet so incredibly powerful and grabbing. She also apparently produced a larger portion of the album this time rather than Bjorn Yittling doing most of the work. My only problem with the album was that it was so good but so short, I wanted more, I didn't want it to end
