After sort of trashing him earlier in the thread when his EP came out, I decided to give his album a second chance after my friend was raving to me about it. Again I love the production on it and he has some cute hooks on some of the song (it was about 50/50 for me on ok/bad songs) but I still can't get away from how forced it feels to me. After actually listening to the lyrics, and looking at the credits, the lyrics seem to get worse the less people he has working with him (except on Wild and Blue where it seems like Alex Hope might as well have just recorded the songs for herself). Some of the songs are cute but I just feel like the whole thing would've been better if someone else had sung it. It just sounds like every other 16-22 year old white gay who can't really sing but still makes their own music and posts on soundcloud, just woking with better producers and a bigger budget.

If anything a cheap, dollar store, imitation brand Lorde album. Lorde wrote her entire album with one other person and did much better/innovative work in 10 songs than Troye was able to do in 18 with a team of features, co-writers, and a slew of established producers including Emile Haynie and Bleachers (who have both won Grammys)

Getting the vinyl to actually look like that would be impossible. You would never be able to differentiate colors between the grooves and the dead wax

I'm disappointed with all the songs so far. None of them touch the amazingness that Chandelier, Elastic Heart and Eye of the Needle has.

Apparently Major Lazer is re-releasing Peace Is the Mission with some new songs and one of them is Wave (feat. Kali Uchis)

“For me, the plan is world domination overall,” she told the audience at a special listening party for her upcoming album, Joyride. “But [with] Joyride, I’m really excited for people to get to know me. It was an introspective in a sense since I’m on a joyride right now.”

She may not have a bae by her side, but that doesn’t mean Tinashe isn’t writing about love. Her pen game is strong when it comes to the feels. “Fires and Flames” is “a nice little ballad” that will hit you straight in the heart. “It’s about being in an awkward situation when you’re with somebody, and they’re destructive. And you still want to be with them. It’s just a story that a lot of people can relate to. I definitely relate to it.”

“Prisoner” is a slow-burning, orchestral pop song produced by the Wolf Cousins, who are from the Max Martin crew in Sweden. Meanwhile “Fearless” is an uplifting track centered on not being afraid of taking risks and delving into the unknown. Then there’s “Flame,” a song about a girl who’s telling her man to just stay with her no matter what, even if he’s not into the relationship anymore. “Tell me you’ve still go the flame for me,” she sings on the chorus.

Tinashe had the opportunity to work with a number of her favorites for Joyride including Boi-1da, who she says is “such a genuine guy,” and Max Martin, who’s the force behind pop powerhouses like Britney Spears and Katy Perry. “Max Martin was so high on my list of people who I want to and got to work with,” she sai

Aside from talk about the album, she also discussed a person who is “one huge inspiration”: Janet Jackson. At the 2015 BET Awards in June, Tinashe, alongside Ciara and Jason Derulo, paid tribute to the “Rhythm Nation” singer. “She’s one huge inspiration,” she gushed. “I was personally invited to be part of her tribute, [and] just being a part of that was such an honor.”

Growing up on Janet’s iconic videos including “Rhythm Nation,” “If” and “Pleasure Principle,” Tinashe wants to reintroduce that aspect of performance back to the stage. “It’s so important for me to bring dance back into the conversation,” she explained.

Not only was she inspired by Janet’s moves, but “Touch Pass,” another song set to appear on Joyride, also has that “Janet vibe.” With piano melodies and continuous snapping dictating the rhythm, the song has a fluid yet sexy feeling to it — you’ll sway your hips in the same way Ms. Jackson would.

she has to work her way through the RCA scumbags until she gets the commercial success she deserves, it's in her contract

Ok so the True Romance thing was weird. UO marketed True Romance on (standard black) vinyl as a UO exclusive when it first got announced that it was being pressed in summer of 2013. Then a few weeks later it showed up on Amazon and available through most retailers. So technically I don't think it was an exclusive, and there was never a colored pressing

As for sucker there are three pressings. There's the standard black pressing, there's the picture disc (which I believe is technically exclusive to her webstore and just isn't marketed that way), and theres the pink marbled pressing which is exclusive to Urban Outfitters (I think only UO's in the US too)

There's a channel that has uploaded almost all original instrumentals from Trilogy and Kissland.

I'm so excited, finally being able to appreciate those godlike productions on their own
Like don't get me wrong, I love Abel's voice and the lyrical universe but still...this is amazing.

The album came out last year, we got a mixtape beforehand, there's tracks from the 3 EPs before the album and then we have a bunch of unreleased. I think it's fine

Is typically a word that should be avoided as it has been used as a slur in the past. Generally it seem to only be an issue when referring to as person as such and is typically allowed in description of objects, people often say to steer clear of the word anyways.

I don't really understand the whole Grimes fans complaining about her making pop music. Claire has always been vocally supportive of pop music and a big reason her music was so electronic was because she didn't have the means to make pop music. If you listen to her progression as an artist you can hear as her production and writing skills got better her music became more and more pop sounding, hence why Visions sounds way more pop than Halfaxa. As much as I throughly enjoy her work to this point, I am extremely excited after hearing Go, Realiti, and now Entropy. I think Claire is a very talented writer, producer, and overall artist and I'm excited to see what she can bring to the table in terms of pop music and pushing the limits of pop music.
