Thank you @The Missing Shade of Blue for reminding me that it's the 13th Anniversary of Born To Die!

Happy Birthday to the one of the most iconic albums of ALL TIMES in the WORLD. An album which changed the music industry forever. Filled with beautiful lyrics and amazing production, cinematic visuals and timeless hits that are still popular today!

Thank you for changing our lives, Born To Die and to the impeccable team - Lana Del Rey, Emile Haynie, Rick Nowels, Justin Parker, Dan Heath and Tim Larcombe! :flutter:

Tragically misunderstood at the time, but is now lauded as one of the most foundational albums of the 21st century, marking the dawn of a cultural shift that many failed to recognise until it was fully realised years later. Lana has always had an acute finger on the pulse of pop culture, often before everyone else can catch up. In hindsight, it's simultaneously cringeworthy and hilarious reading back on how desperately the media created so much over-the-top discourse regarding the concept of her authenticity, or lack thereof. It's still exhaustingly irritating how the very thing they mocked would become the blueprint for the next decade’s wave of artists. Lana still deserves so many more flowers.

ANYWAY

It took about two years, but this album eventually found me at the perfect time in my life. I'll always be so grateful to this album for getting me through some tough times. Carmen, Off to the Races, and TIWMUG are still my holy trinity
