Unpopular Movie/TV Show Opinions

Recommended Posts

i noticed i barely watch movies or tv series, unless it's some very interesting film at the cinema.. i also have so few series or tv shows that i actually enjoy, idk most just don't peak my interest :toofunny: i don't even watch tv anymore either, (i dont wanna come off as mean lol don't come for me but) i most times really don't understand what could be so riveting on there as to make other people sit at the tv for hours on end :hillary:

Never had the interest to watch Squid Games and I don't think if I'll ever want to :crossed: Not because of the plot (although it doesn't really appeal me either) but because it feels so hyped that everything that general public hypes so intensively gives me overrated vibes (that's how I feel with most Netflix shows that are popular)...And now everyone is trying to milk that show with that weird ass reality show and also an upcoming video game. It becomes a total joke! :trisha4:

Two really really unpopular opinions:

I've tried watching Friends all the way through and I just don't find it funny or endearing. I generally just don't like sitcoms, though.

I agree that Marvel is a "symptom" a big problem in Hollywood cinema .... I don't like the films at all. I've seen most of them, I just don't care for them. It's the exact opposite of what I think cinema "should" be about :eek3:

Sad and bittersweet endings are what make movies good or even timeless. Everyone would have forgotten Titanic or La La Land in few years if it wasn't for their sad or bittersweet endings. The countless discussions and "what ifs" about these kind of endings are what keeps the movies alive after many years and also for younger generations. Also, "fairytale" endings aren't really common in everyone's life either. Which can make it sometimes more relatable for some. But idk if it is an unpopular opinion though.

German drama movies and TV shows are so underrated! They're so great, especially period drama related shows (Babylon Berlin, it's AMAZING). I'm not the biggest fan of European cinema or television but if they do it right then it's better than the content in Hollywood.

Stranger Things is one of the most overrated TV shows of all time. Anything Netflix is overrated :biblio:

I haven't watched the substance in actuality yet(?) bc I feel like glory and gore's been done time's before, that and I wasn't looking forward to the fleshy makeup but. I stumbled upon one of the scenes and might actually watch it properly.
and the reason behind that is Demi Moore's acting. I was thinking it'd be more of a spectacle as it's been made to be, and the entertainment aspect of it but that scene where she and Marg Qualey's interactions kinda made me real sad. cus maybe it just translated well, but in a way, I kinda saw/felt the kind of pain Demi Moore's character was going thru in a way, young or not and it just made me really sad to think that the character had to go thru such lengths and u could see how lost the character was/ in the acting

I wasn't really interested in the hollywood aspect of it cus that happens a lot anyway, and clearly, no ne's that disfigured to that degree but, there's that humanness that I could tell was gleaming thru in that fear and vulnerability and idk I just feel like that's what'll bring the movie's meaning back to being human?

like personally u can't help but empathize to thinking that an actual person'll just be discarded like that as if they were nothing, that's just cruel and awful to do that to someone.

I actually teared up about the conflict between the main character matrix within herself, and the relationship she had w the younger self.
like the ego to Moore and the id to Qualey if I'm not messing that up. and what's tragic is like discarding of everything anyway at the end.

It was giving divine tragedy/comedy, and I see the value in it all, but just wanted to point that out.
