Paradise is an album. Yes or no?

Recommended Posts

I treat it as an album it’s in own right. I just wish she’d of added Burning Desire, Young & Beautiful, Chelsea Hotel & LIB as standard tracks. Would of made a stellar 12 track record.

considering violet a studio album is kinda insane honestly like… it's not even made of music :toofunny:

sure, there's some instrumentals for ~ambience~ but it doesn't qualify as a song

Well yes!

It has a distinctive sound to me in my opinion, so including the outtakes and everything it is a whole project/experience :oprah3:

I consider it an album. I see how people don’t think it is because lana considers it as an EP and the Paradise edition of BTD. But Paradise was released on its own without being merged with BTD. It has its own distinct era that’s different from BTD alone and 8 tracks seems a little long for an EP imo. Spotify classifies Paradise as an album too soo :oprah3:

I'll say that, despite it was marketed as an EP, yes, it is an album indeed. Length and tracks amount surpass those of an EP although it was marketed as such, probably due to the release proximity after Born to Die. Paradise ultimately has a sound of its own and I've never seen it as an extension of Born to Die cause they're pretty different anyway.

Little reminder that 9-track albums do exist:

FKA twigs - MAGDALENE

Björk - Vulnicura

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Madonna - Like a Virgin and True Blue

Duran Duran - Self Titled

Lykke Li - I Never Learn

and like a couple thousands more lol, they were very common in the 80s and 90s :whatever2:

8-track albums too:

AURORA - Infections of a Different Kind

Lykke Li - EYEYE

Madonna - Self Titled

and many many more. So while it doesn't matter, it's pretty much an album. And an excellent one :true: I just wish I Don't Wanna Go and Young & Beautiful were officially added so this little *controversy* were nowhere to be found dddd

Saying that Paradise isn’t an album just because it isn’t long enough is like saying anyone 5’5” and below isn’t a person because they’re not tall enough.

I agree that Paradise is an album, and I also think short people aren’t people. Both can be true.

Case closed 🫶🏻

No.

It’s an EP.

AKA,

BTD,

UV,

HM,

LFL,

NFR,

COCC,

BB,

DYK are the albums…

Why do people continue to claim that AKA is her debut when Lana personally has only ever called BTD her debut? She has refrenced BTD as her debut album countless of times. Just look at the racer jacket. Not ONCE has she given AKA that acknowledgment, why would she??

It’s officially an EP, this is because it was sold with Born To Die combined.  Lana herself considers it a main album and project however and her second body of work.

It was also sold as a stand alone album aswell. I feel like you guys don’t really understand the difference between LPs and EPs. These are terms used back in the day for the total playtime of a vinyl.

An EP would use a smaller vinyl so it could only fit a few songs, like 4-5. An LP could fit more bc it was bigger.

They’re both different forms of albums. An album or a record is a work of art, so why would you discredit Paradise as Lana’s work of art by saying it’s anything less than BTD or any other album?

And technically Paradise as a stand alone already counts as an LP bc it exceeds the typical playtime and total tracks of an EP.
