Wait For Life is like a poppier version of Million Dollar Man. The verse is jazz influenced and the chorus is catchy 90s ballady pop rock.

 

The production on the chorus reminds me of the production Paul Epworth did for Black Beauty very "Stadium" ey sounding idk.

His tricks are getting old he should have known by now. I know he's this producer with "production style" but using the same loon and doing the same production he did 3 years ago? Just for the record he used all of this on The Neighborhood album too.

Other than that, beautiful melody and Lana's vocal delivery was sublime, lyrics are kinda ok but the chorus is indeed better than anything released recently but I'm not sure if she wrote it.

Can someone tell me what "loon" is? At first I thought it was a nickname for emile but now I'm not sure.

Btw love the song! Honeymoon better have a few songs like this.

 

The loon is this kind of 'wind-in-a-tunnel' sound you hear in the intro of Million Dollar Man, for example.

I really don't like her delivery on the chorus apart from the "i'm lonely" part. It makes me feel uneasy lol

 

I think the production is very jarring with this vocal style, it works well with live instrumentation like on Ultraviolence, but not with this glossy style from Born To Die. The vocals should have have been re recorded

Boring? It's literally livelier than anything on UV.

Ok, it's a beautiful song, but let's not reach here. Emile's overproduction tends to drain the life/emotion out of Lana's songs. He stripped down a bit here and it's nice, but it's a bit of a stretch to call it better than anything on UV, lol.

I hope that she's not going back to this sound for Honeymoon. The sound is boring "eerie", she will flop commercially and critically with this sound. I hope that this guy will stay as far as possible from Honeymoon. UV sound is superior: CW, UV, WC, SoC >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than this

it's just like...such an unprogressive song. i haven't really liked the new songs (BGE, ICF) but at least ICF was a lyrical (and somewhat sonical) progression from previous....it feels like she's become a cliche of herself
