It's because we thought that it was going to be an acoustic guitar ballad song and many people lowered their expectations because BOZ and Pantene said it's boring and May Jailer with a budget. We were surprised to hear that it has more than just a guitar. And it's also affected a bit by recency bias because the last time we got an unheard solo original song by Lana was when the Ocean Blvd album dropped (not counting collaborations, covers and unreleased songs) - it was two years ago. 

 

The thing with Tulsa Jesus Freak and Candy Necklace is that they weren't singles before the album release, they were released with other 10 songs when their respective albums were released.

I wonder if it's just retitled or if the tracklist also changed cause changing the cover and vinyl sleeves wouldn't delay it that much but if they have to repress them... we're far (depending on when she decided to change it).

 

I don't think they'd let her send albums to production unless it's 100% the final product with how much she changes her mind so maybe she was supposed to submit it around the time she announced it in November but she changed her mind right before the deadline and the final album already started production a couple of months ago...

In that case we may have any a late summer release

Honestly, we've all been waiting for this record for so long. Very NFR vibes.

 

BUT now that the single has dropped, it's painstakingly clear just how much Lana cares for the music. I feel like she's working her butt off and contemplating every little sound and every line delivery. We are SO LUCKY. Because look at Dua Peep - her last album was so short, and it was shit! Our girlie is fucking ON IT.

 

Henry was SO GOOD that I don't mind this record coming out even next year.

 

We'll still have Henry, and we'll have Blue Bird... And then there's Tough, and the Abyss.

 

Imagine being an Adele fan and waiting for her to finish her hibernation... Crazy.

I also think that the vinyl production has been going on for a while now, because those 2 songs are ready as well. There's no way she's going to start it now.

I have a feeling when eclipse and honeymouns said “right person is scrapped!!” Last month that was when the new album was submitted, which means it’s only 3/4 months away, which is perfect for a middle of the summer, July album or another end of the summer August album

Surely she can’t delay it till after Wembley being an iconic show

(I’m seeing her for the first time at Wembley  so I’m holding on as much as I can)

I think we’ll get it late June she didn’t seem like it was a major delay and us obviously excited to get things going and having 2 singles out a week apart from each other seems like a good starting pace

Yeah I think that the title track might be a new song that she recorded after the November announcement, and I won’t be surprised if she has recorded a few more songs, too. Very curious to see if she has changed the tracklist in general. Are we still getting 13 tracks? Are we possibly getting more? (I’m inclined to say yes, lol). 
 

This album’s progress is quite fascinating. Insiders have only listened to demo/early versions of some songs that were supposed to be on the first version of this album, apparently in that very stripped-back form (or maybe not, Lana must have fooled them all, lol); Pantene has confirmed that they haven’t listened to some stuff at all, though, due to last-minute changes and that was during the November announcement; and now there’s a real possibility that newer tracks were written after the November announcement, including the (new/current) title track. It doesn’t get more Lana than this. She seems very happy with the final results, and Ed just described it as a “stunning record”, so I guess the album must be officially done at this point!

I mean it's been 2+ years since OB. And if we believe her own words, this album has been in the making far longer than that.

 

We've heard Henry, we've heard Prettiest Girl in Country Music, we've heard Tough. Seem slike country fits Lana like a glove because, honestly, these are some of her absolute best cuts ever. I could not be more excited for this record. I genuinely think it's going to be one of her best.

I should have written that our hype was very high before those insiders said it was boring. Everyday we were begging for Henry although the demo was very acoustic. I was so sure the production wouldn’t be as rich and so I thought we’d be all « this is LMLYLAW all over again ». Candy Necklace was a « letdown » for many here if I remember correctly when the album was released (it is a grower for sure, one of the songs I love the most on the album but I remember thinking it was a bit « simple » at first compared to the others).

if this album drops this year, i'll be so pleasantly surprised. the delay is scaring me, but if she's dropping 2 singles ahead of stagecoach, then maybe it will come sooner than we think. just not next month like she said.

Not to sound rude at all, but why do we think the album has to be out before Wembley?  The only show that needed to have songs from the record out was Stagecoach because it is a specific country festival mostly. Her other shows, she can play Henry and Bluebird and go back to her « original » setlist. I don’t have any expectations for her shows since two events:

- NFR era, we thought the album had to be out before her festival shows and well, we know how it  turned out;

- Since her Hyde Park show, where she could have sung so many duets from OB since most of her collab guests were there, playing before her, she chose not to play one. None. Nada. And I mean, I was so sure. She doesn’t do anything like the others. Even her Fenway Park show, as iconic as it is, she chose to debut two new tracks there and none at Coachella.

It’s really just like what I would love it doesn’t have to be out by then in any way it’s just because it’s gonna be my first time seeing her and I don’t want the same old set and would like the era to have been started by then. I do think it would be nice tho go have the album out for Wembley or atleast 3-4 singles to give it its full potential
