  1. You guys, don't kill me, but it actually really bothers me when she belts out Million Dollar Man live. It doesn't work for her voice and it doesn't sound good to me at all. Phew, it feels good to let that out.
  2. Children of the Bad Revolution. My life in a nutshell. <3 :badbitch:
  3. It blew my mind live! Girl can shred like nobody's business. Velvet Crowbar
  4. I am not an Adele fan, but she has a "bigger" voice than Lana. I really don't think they're comparable, though.
  5. Maybe it will be a rebroadcast of the Wireless show, but it does say "private concert," so it might not be.
  6. ^Agreed. Some Velvet Morning is brilliant. The Doors - The End
  7. My suggestion is to bring just a booklet, if you can. It won't be destroyed in the mosh pits.
  8. ^In New York, tickets aren't usually above $50 or $60, so it's a lot, haha. Indie shows are usually between $15 and $30!
  9. So much better than the performance the other day! She really does get better and better. I just wish she'd stop with the "freaking crazy" already.
  10. Björk's tickets for the NYC residency were so expensive! Almost $100 for a general admission show.
  11. I usually manage to meet every band and artist I go to see. It's all about knowing where to wait (the stage door). Almost every time, there will be other people waiting too. The band will almost always come over and sign things, take pictures, and talk to fans. Bring something for them to sign and a camera, try to think of what you'd like to say to them, and everything should go well.
  12. ^Yay! That does give me a lot of hope. Maybe next year? I wanted to hop a plane and go to Stockholm Music & Arts just to see iamamiwhoami and Anna Von Hausswolff.
  13. Tori is my favorite artist, so it's hard to narrow it down, but I can tell you which albums are my favorites! Haha. Boys For Pele is number one in my heart, Under the Pink is a close second, and From the Choirgirl Hotel is a very close third. Which songs/albums have you heard? I'll be happy to give some recommendations. Nouvelle Vague - Putain putain
  14. Plus, I hate the venue they played. It worked for Erykah Badu, but every other time, it's been a nightmare because the sound is AWFUL.
  15. Holy shit you've seen Tune-yards live?! Merrill in the flesh?! Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I envy you. I cannot deal with how many times you've sen Fiona. She is SO GOOD LIVE OMG. I need to see her again in a venue that's not outdoors. It was a triple bill show with St. Vincent and Basia Bulat. All of those Fiona shows were this year because I've been obsessed with her since I was 7 and the last time she toured, I was 15/16 and had no way to go. So, I REALLY made up for it this year. I still can't believe I got to see her in a 500 capacity club venue. You and I have such similar tastes!! I was obsessed with Shiina Ringo 7 or 8 years ago and then I sort of lost interest. I joined Electric Mole and everything. YOU'VE SEEN JONNA. I am so jealous. She'd better tour the US OR ELSE. Please don't remind me that I missed them last month.
  16. St. V is always a pleasure to see (I even ran into her at the Fiona Apple show!), Joanna blew my mind and needs to get her ass back on tour so I can see her again, and PJ is someone I had been wanting to see for many years before I finally had the chance last year. She was brilliant. Tune-Yards was really fun! It was a year before her second album came out, so she was playing a lot of those songs, but most of them didn't have names at the time. I would LOVE to see Leonard Cohen, but his tickets are SO expensive. Great list! I actually saw Cate Le Bon opening for St. Vincent, but I didn't include openers because I can't remember all of them. Yeasayer, Daughn Gibson (I am OBSESSED with his album), Zola, Depeche Mode, and Bat For Lashes (hopefully she announces US tour dates soon) are all on my list of artists to see. So cool that you saw TLC too! I was obsessed with them when I was a kid!
  17. Going to shows is probably my favorite pastime, so I thought it would be cool to have a thread in which we list concerts we have attended and/or will be attending. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's lists! Here's my list so far: Tori Amos (x 5) St. Vincent (x 4) Fiona Apple (x 4) Beach House (x 3) Erykah Badu (x 2) Amanda Palmer (x 2) Arthur H Charlotte Gainsbourg Alice Smith PJ Harvey Tune-Yards Basia Bulat The National Natalie Merchant Janelle Monáe Juana Molina Joanna Newsom Rachel Yamagata Portishead
  18. ^I totally agree! I'm sad I didn't get to see them on their last tour. Jenny and Johnny is absolutely AWFUL. St. Vincent - Dilettante

    Azealia Banks

Azealia is FIRE. I love her so much. This is still my favorite song by her. It was my summer jam. So dirty and I LOVE IT.
  20. I don't listen to a lot of Christmas music, but my favorite Christmas album is One More Drifter in the Snow by Aimee Mann. I think it's a perfect modern take on the old school, loungey Christmas standards that are mostly hopeful, but have a tinge of melancholy to them. It has this vibe that's really similar to Julie London and the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack. It's pretty irresistible to me.
