I like you more with every post you make. But seriously. People calling Britney a flop when she has increased the percentage of venue sales in Vegas by some 30% because her show is doing so well. Come back when your fave makes that big of an impact 15 years into their career. I highly doubt they will even be relevant at that point. -

Ya'll trashing Britney like what the fuck is wrong with you?? The only one up there even close to Britney's level of success and worldwide fame/appeal is Beyonce, so you can all take a seat. -
Nope.

Money Power Glory kinda sucks. I don't know why so many people love it.

I've been pulling my hair out the last few days trying to organize my lazy Demos album that I'd thrown every leak from like last year into. 101 songs, I am determined to make my own kind of Lana library out of it, similar to how Sitar does it. Though I did copy his Champagne Sighs album... changing the title to Daytona Meth & adding Daddy Issues (it doesn't fit anywhere else, my poor baby) and Lift Your Eyes into it, since LYE is a sloppy snippet on par with all the other laptop demos. -
But that's the point of this thread, to compare the albums. Yeah, they're very different, but they can still be compared in terms of aesthetics and such. Besides, it's fun to discuss this stuff with everyone! I like proving people wrong.

Her vocal range is more varied on UV, by a loooot. You go from BTD-esque range (songs like Guns and Roses & West Coast) to much higher, which she didn't do very much in BTD. Songs like Shades of Cool, Pretty When You Cry, FMWUTTT & some other moments in a few other songs. I feel like everyone is confusing the atmosphere the album creates with it being "too same-y." Just because it's a cohesive work doesn't mean all the songs are really similar. There's a huge amount of guitar used throughout the album but it's used in different ways, making different sounds. PWYC doesn't sound like SoC but they both rely on lots of guitar. Same for Florida Kilos. I mean, a few songs seem like siblings to me, yeah, but not nearly as same-y as songs were on BTD. Nothing else on UV sounds like The Other Woman, FK, PWYC, ITH, Flipside, UV, FMWUTTT, Old Money. Etc. Yeah the tempo overall is less varied, with UV being a slower, brooding album, but that doesn't mean it's too same-y! BTD just uses a lot of the same sound effects in the same way in lots of the songs throughout, and usually unsuccessfully.
-
But how can you say UV is too same-y when BTD has similar strings, hip hop samples, loon noises, that specific guitar sound etc. throughout almost every song? Born to Die has better lyrics? Really? "Every time I close my eyes, it's like a dark paradise." Case closed. Besides, it's completely redundant to compare lyrics from a verse to a chorus, which is what you did... so.
-
Ultraviolence succeeds everywhere that Born to Die failed, and then does even more. The production, lyrics, vocals, overall theme, execution, all of it is so much better and more thought out than Born to Die. Born to Die doesn't feel like a natural work - lots of the songs were changed from amazing demos & pushed into the "sad core gangsta" sound and it just didn't work for lots of those songs. Everything on UV feels genuine and I just can't say the same about BTD.

Is it Puppy Love or Marilyn Monroe? Let My Hair Down or Dance Man? -
I hear "got your gun, I've got my dare" as if she's egging him on to shoot her or something?? Idk. The verse makes me think they're in midst of a bad argument, he grabs his gun and she's daring him to do something with it.

@@SitarHero when the fuck did 3-5 surface in your rarities album???????

IS THIS HAPPINESS IS THE BEST SONG ON ULTRAVIOLENCE BYE FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY PRETTY WHEN YOU CRY OLD MONEY IS OVERRATED AND BLACK BEAUTY WAS BETTER AS A DEMO

T-T T-T T-T I'll clean up my Britney stuff and show you what I have!.. Thank you.
-
Okay I'll give you that... during the second verse, when she says the Hunter S. Thompson part, I thought my mom was fucking vacuuming the house about 4 different times before I realized it was a noise from the song... BUT oh well, it's fuckin cool and unique. :B Idk. I love the horn noise in the chorus along with the applause. It's a really strange and beautiful song to me. Lana said somewhere that the standard edition is like, the narrative she wanted to tell for the album's story or something. So The Other Woman makes sense after Old Money to her, I guess. I like how Old Money ends quietly and then there's the SMACK! noise that starts off The Other Woman. It's cool.
-
You're fine! I actually found it REALLY hilarious that you said something, because it's like my first day back on the forum in months, and I already managed to piss someone off again lmao. I kind of have a reputation here for getting into arguments with people so I was just like, "oh god, here we go again. " but it's all good. Shame on all of you though for paying Is This Happiness dust. How can such a beautiful ballad be so unloved.
-
I have never been more excited for an album. I refuse to listen to the previews.
-
I SECOND THIS POST. It seriously could've been so perfect on Ultraviolence. But since you already said that, I'll go with... Us Against the World. The soaring chorus. The sultry verses. The DRUMS throughout and that GUITAR during the PRECHORUS. And that horn sound at the very start that plays during the chorus as well?? Idk what it is but god I love it.
