I think for me it grew with time and each listen and if you didn’t put in the listening time for replays I totally understand not being as in love. I felt the same with III (mostly because of the title at first) but latched onto that much quicker. I def think her first two were her best but I think she’s evolving with her style to the fit the times as she goes creating a “less personal” listening experience on first couple of plays but when you really break down Serpentina some of the songs are far deeper than I originally got at first. Holding Back other than the pitched section (and spirit as just a lower vibe in comparison) definitely throw a wrench into it but I definitely wouldn’t say any of the songs are bad at all. just my thoughts, hope this brings about more streams to that album and see if your views changed at all as well.

I don’t understand the Serpentina hate. Honestly every song is typical Banks style (just a bit more auto tune and distortion than III). My only complaint is Holding Back has that pitched section that replays like 4 times that I wish wasn’t pitched but whatever. Spirit is on the lower end as well of overall Banks tracks but it still fits with the project. idk I’d love to hear what others think Also it’s is a crime that Misunderstood is so short when it clearly is one of her best tracks ever

Girl this song has been on loop since release. I think she’s shifting between genres at the moment and I love that but I understand why longtime fans may feel the way I’m seeing they are. in my eyes mother can do no wrong and I’m excited for whatever it is she wants to release. Everything is everything is one of the most solid tracks in her discography

Yeah to be real that is how I became a fan. I randomly saw someone on Twitter tweeting about her and how she’s always pumping out unreleased stuff. Once I heard American Teenager I had to dive in immediately and I listened to all her projects and her SoundCloud stuff and all I could find and hearing it all collectively really shifted my thinking in terms of music and artistry. She provided something so therapeutic and I am perched for new content.
