  1. The fact that she's reusing a lyric that Courtney has sung doesn't mean she has to have the same interpretation of it as Courtney.
  2. @@Skid Row Cherry Pie & @ it's from yesterday: http://www.metro.se/noje/lana-del-rey-har-letat-efter-ett-knarkigt-swing/EVHndp!SDiRZbecstXoQ/
  3. I stumbled across this short article in a swedish newspaper called Metro, with a supposedly exclusive interview with Lana. Google translate did most of the job, so don't expect a qualitative linguistic experience. I think I've corrected the worst parts though. To summarize: at the Beautiful Player lyric!?
  4. Oh this is so promising! I expected and hoped for the unexpected but this exceeded my "unexpectations" Honestly I haven't really gotten into it yet but it's so obvious that this is a real grower. It's original, innovative, ambitious, intriguing... I get the feeling that there's much inspiration and no laziness behind this. She's not playing it safe and it seems like she's developing her sound and her themes while still staying true to her musical roots
  5. What do we think of "down on the west coast they got a sayin", are they lyrics? Or some sort of hint?
  6. That interview launched me right into "the thirst is real"-mode
  7. I had the same thought, indeed it's very resembling
  8. I'm late to the party but I really like it! No one captures that beautiful "twisted/epic/haunting" atmosphere like Lana.
  9. The first time I watched it, the thought of them being UFO's didn't even cross my mind. It wasn't until people mentioned it that I noticed the resemblance. Now I don't now what to think but to me it makes little sense if they are UFO's, doesn't really fit with the general atmosphere of the video/songs, or with Lana for that matter.
  10. I actually don't get why you wouldn't buy it if you didn't hate it, it's really not much money at all and it's a very important project for Lana so we should support her by buying it. Still not sure what I think about Tropico, but I do think that it was a very brave and interesting project that I'm happy she went through with, and I want to show my appreciation for that.
  11. It's 6:30 a.m. why the hell am I still awake Anyway, my verdict is that I don't know what to think yet. And it's not a "I didn't like it" kind of "I don't know", I genuinely DON'T KNOW. I really liked it on an emotional level, but my brain hasn't made up its mind yet. I sort of felt that way after watching Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" for the first time, only to realize a few days later that it was by far the greatest movie I had ever seen. Not expecting that to happen with Tropico, but you get the point.. What I do know: While I watched it, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed listening to G&M and Bel Air, and that's a good sign I guess. Body Electric is, has always been and will always be a hopeless case for me. I didn't like Shaun Ross at all Good night
  12. I agree, what I like most about this title is that it is so unexpected. Sure, we don't know in what way the sound of the album will relate to the title, but it certainly doesn't sound "Paradise/AFFA-ish", which for me is very promising because I was really getting tired of that era... So while I won't jump to any conclusions about the sound just yet, this sure didn't leave me LESS excited.
  13. I prefer the album version of Million Dollar Man over the demo and all her live performances of it.
  14. You nailed it tbh, the only one I disagree on is Cola
  15. Stripping represents the loss of innocence
  16. I think there were several factors that made me like her as much as I do. First of all, before I found her I had a lot of frustration over music in general because I'd gotten tired of my previous favorites long ago, and hadn't found anything new that I really liked. Life without fantastic music felt very empty, and it had been so long that I had started to give up hope of finding new music that I truly enjoyed. But even that first night when I listened through Born to Die and LDRAKALG for the first time, I knew that the void had been filled in a way that I couldn't have hoped for even in my wildest dreams. That was an incredible feeling, it was like reuniting with an almost forgotten love that suddenly came bursting back into life with more power than ever before. Really cheesy I know, but it's still an accurate description. The shocking manner of that first "meeting" with her definitely played a big role in why I became so hooked. What appeals to me most about her music is the exciting, forbidden and passionate atmosphere that she creates - it's a refreshing antithesis of the often dull and monotonous everyday life. For me, escapism is the main reason why I listen to music, the same goes for reading books and watching films. I like it when the music takes me to a world without rules and responsibilities, an exciting, adventurous and dangerous world where emotions rule rather than common sense. Lana's music was perfect for that. Her beauty and the mysteries obviously strengthens that exciting atmosphere around her and her music. Futhermore, I'm very week for artists that seem genuine, that make it sound like they are writing and singing straight from the heart and about personal experiences. Personally, I've never heard an artist that seems more genuine than Lana. Pawn Shop Blues is probably the best example of the type of lyrics/music I'm referring to here. The fact that she also seems to be much more passionate about the music than the fame makes me respect her more, or at least relate to her more. Hmm, I think I'll just stop myself here...
  17. Nope, just checked and it's still there. As is "it's coming you little bitch"
  18. Does this mean there won't be any gay guys or straight girls left on this forum from now on?
  19. I'm more excited now than when we first heard of it. Now we at least know it's gonna happen and that it's probably coming this month.
  20. Updated results (34 votes): Beautiful Player, Strange Love, Maha Maha and Summer Wine are the big winners since the last update, while Television Heaven, Behind Closed Doors, Big Bad Wolf (Instrumental) and Midnite Dancer Girlfriend drops heavily.
