I don't see the point in lying about her age. I didn't even know her age until a month after listening to her when I looked at her wiki article. Lana's music fits her age and beyond, the real musical age embarrassment is Carly Rae Jepsen & Nicki Minaj. They are both older than Lana and sing like toddlers, Nicki Minaj being the more vulgar toddler of the two.

Vote for Lana Del Rey at the 2012 MTV EMA's
Matt replied to RileyThomas's topic in Awards & Nominations
Yeah, MTV doesn't really have any importance unless you're Justin Bieber and that's the only type of award he'll ever get. Bigger and better awards will come for Lana. -
Lana Del Rey Shoots Video For New Single "ride" In La
Matt replied to CHARLIXCX's topic in Latest News
Quentin Tarantino should direct it. -
Lana is a walking mystery. We think we know a lot about her, but we really don't. There's a lot behind the Priscilla Presley-esq 'do and the beautiful music.

She's a good singer, but I don't like her music.

Lana Del Rey Shoots Video For New Single "ride" In La

If it's "She's Not Me" I'll have a breakdown of excitement - despite the song making me think of cooking eggs. -
Haha, just watched this for the first time, It's hilarious. Adele: My depressing songwriting is unmatched. Lana: Actually, that's bullshit. I'm loving these videos.

Cherry Cola. Would you rather have Lana tell you she hates you, or get in a fatal car crash?

To be honest, the people who leak the songs have no right to, but once they're out there for the public eye, the best thing a fan can do is appreciate it & Lana and not shun it because it's a leak.

Agreed Coney Island King, the fact that Lana was up against some of these no-talent auto-tuned teeny boppers is an insult to her talent. I was rooting for M.I.A. to win Video of the Year but the reductive Rihanna Radioactive rip-off beat 'Bad Girls.' It's a joke Katy Perry beat Lana in one of the categories - Wide Awake has the cheesiest visual effects and the song is pure 100% auto-tune, how people are oblivious to how robotic it sounds is ridiculous. One Direction also shouldn't have won anything, that What Makes You Beautiful song robbed the chords from Greese and all they do is run around a beach in the music video. Chris "Woman-Beater" Brown won Best Male Video, so technically TONS of people around the world voted for that no-talent hack that beat a woman, nice to know how on-track our generation is with picking 'winners.' Overall, the MTV awards are a joke. Those who won the categories shouldn't even get the trophies or prizes, it should go to their production teams who auto-tune their voice until it sounds decent and add extremely loud pop beats to drone out their lack of talent AND the directors of the music videos should get the trophies for every award, since we all know all those no-talent winners didn't come up with the concepts for them or anything else, all they did is stand there and look pretty. My opinion.

The guy in that video is right though. Can't stand Demi at all and Britney from Blackout to present is too lazy vocally and just piles on the auto-tuned and heavy sounding pop beats to make a single. Neither of them are good judges for talent tbh, old Britney would be a different story, Demi though really should just not be on there. My void for poppy Britney-esq music was filled by Go Go Dancer. Sorry for the sass.

I really like Marina, she's very talented and an interesting person taste-wise. I especially like the Valley of the Dolls meets Stepford Wives vibe of her new album. The Family Jewels is great though, I like it better than Electra Heart.

I agree with Hello Heaven. At the same time she gets all this publicity, deals with Jaguar & H&M, highly-successful debut album, she still is practically under the radar for mainstream media platforms. I never see Yahoo! articles about her when I check my eMail except once post-National Anthem music video release. The only web articles I ever see about her are on British music websites, LA Times, and NME from what I've seen. Like, I've always hoped that when I watch "Entertainment Tonight" or some other show like that, they bring her up and how she was signed to promote/model for this company and released this music video, etc. etc. but no, all I see is stuff about Suri Cruise and blah blah and nothing actually about Lana despite the success she has gotten. It's really weird.

I love vindicatedmess's videos. I've been watching them for a long time after she posted her beautiful "Carmen" cover. She rocks every song.

I know this sounds wacky, but It'd be interesting if Dark Paradise wasn't about a relationship, but her love affair for alcohol or any other drug. The lyrics contain a high level of ambiguity to suggest it might not be about a person. Unlike most Lana songs, there isn't any strong Americana references or references to how the person dresses or what he does. I don't know, those have always been my thoughts about the song. Unless she has stated in an interview I've yet to see that it's about a specific person, then I just made a fool of myself, but whatever - worth a shot, haha.

David Lynch - Imaginary Girl TBH, they should've used this B-side for the Interview Magazine video of Lana instead of Ghost of Love. Regardless, Inland Empire and every other David Lynch soundtrack is flaw free.

My friends all hate her. When I first played "Born to Die" for them, one girl said it reminded her of the music at the 'Chinese nail salon, and that it made her fall asleep.' All of my friends make fun of her to me all the time, saying she's a drug addict and a weirdo and is bound to die by next year. My mom used to be annoyed by her, but I've slowly gotten her to think she's cool. My older sister think she's cool, my younger sister thinks she's weird and annoying.

Which Lana songs do you prefer the demos/alt versions of?
Matt replied to Mileena 's topic in Lana Thoughts
Diet Mountain Dew Demo has a rawer and more smooth sound than the Studio. The studio version just beats you to death with the loud pop drums and whistles and shouts. -
I've always been confused whenever I saw the title "Lolyta" in Google and on YouTube, I always though maybe it was a foreign spelling of the word or something since the book and movies are called "Lolita" with an 'i'.

Okay, here's my unpopular opinion. "Carmen" is the best song on Born to Die. If it wasn't for that song I probably wouldn't love Lana as much as I do right now. When I first heard that song, it gave me chills and the image of Felix Cane slowly dropping down the pole as Lana says, "Darlin' Darlin' Doesn't have a problem" is permanently embedded into my mind. "Carmen" is genius lyrically, proudction wise, and the music video is flawless. It's a brilliant song. I've read tons of comments on Tumblr, Twitter, and YouTube and other websites that just really hate "Carmen" and wish it was kicked off of Born to Die, I could never picture that. "Carmen" just brings me into a David Lynch film, Laura Palmer's secret life, and even the production screams David Lynch for Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet. It's the one song from Lana that honestly blows me away every time I listen to it. I've replayed it nearly 800 times on my iTunes since I first heard it in May and just can't get enough. It's the one song off Born to Die I relate to, not because I'm a druggie or wild child, but it really experiments with the idea that everybody looks fine on the outside but really is crumbling apart early on in their lives. It's just my view, "Carmen" will always be the song that saved Born to Die for me. Born to Die and Video Games took me over a month to get into.
