Lana pumps out albums bi-yearly with bad rollouts(especially the last few eras bar NFR kinda)- Melanie is actually performing and giving her fans regular updates now. Lana is also known to produce classic/beautiful but likewise very similar piano ballads for the last few years which turned a lot of people off. Mel released an uptempo pop album. And to top it off It’s not surprising- Mel actually takes advantage of her tik tok virality whereas Lana just lets the music speak for itself.

I don’t think we’ll ever get confirmation that the tracklist actually was for an album shortlisting tbh- I know insiders have backed this up but I need sources- it does just seem more likely to me that she was shortlisting songs for the film- decided on I talk to Jesus and then scrapped it for UV instead.

I’m still kind of stunned that insiders were able to work out tropico tbh- I mean was the concept scrapped during the storyboarding process for the film or was it after filming completely?

I think UV still would have been better tbh-it’s more fully formed and the diss tracks were more nuanced like fucked(lorde and media diss track) and money power glory(critics).
