Wow….dissapointing to say the least- I like some Bjork songs but I always find her albums tricky to get into tbh

I don’t think she should read reviews tbh if they upset her but in the grand scale of things when does she ever listen to anyone anyway? If the critics had their way her career would have been DOA after 2012

Her sound was never “commercial” though- BTD was string driven trip hop album with some pop and hip hop leaning moments, UV was soft rock and Psychedelic- it’s not like we were getting Ariana pop songs

Are we really getting mad over positive reviews?? This same luxury for experimentation would not have been afforded to her 4 years ago-some of you should be grateful that people are interested in the work.

I have worked on music but I’d certainly never mentioned it once here nor did I claim to be on Lanas level- it is a word on the dictionary in fact- any sequence of notes is a melody but when there is a very untraditional melody that has non traditional chord sequences or elements irregardless of the melody that are jarring(yes an oxymoron perhaps)- the term certified on the Cambridge dictionary “unmelodic” is used. props to the other user for having a legion of followers on Twatrl.

I mentioned the definition for you- there are “harsh” or discordant elements that don’t flow in linear pattern- again why people have a breakdown over a simple term is honestly odd. It doesn’t mean bad. It follows unmelodic patterns.

Not ATRL having a breakdown over the word unmelodic when I mentioned those 3 tracks in particular- there are discordant elements in those songs which is often deemed unmelodic- I hope the reviewers don’t get bombarded for using basic words lmao

I’m not hating I actually find it interesting-particularly peppers I find jarring as I hate the track and love it for the first time, very rare for me to feel that way about anything

I mean who knows- she’s definitely progressing to the point she may start incorporating more experimental structures into her work- it’s very different to how someone like poppy would do it, that’s for sure.

It’s quite simple really- not necessarily a negative depending on who you are- singing starts- singing abruptly stops for rap sample- odd clown car synth behind beat in peppers that doesnt flow to the surf guitars. this would be called unmelodic because it doesn’t feature a proper continuous melody,

Peppers, American & whore and taco truck don’t have standard melodies- they feature loud talking over samples, odd transitions and gaps where nothing is sung but you’d expect it to be.

This is easily her most unmelodic work- I need to listen to more but this is either going to be panned(likely not because reviewers are scared of crazed fans) or heavily praised for not following what is considered good practice.

I don’t think any song should take you over 3 listens to like it tbh-this is a psychological phenomenon where the brain may grow to like something if repeated. Maybe it’s just not good on the other hand I’m actually waiting to hear everything in HQ so I’ll see when it’s released.
