It’s interesting that the songs everyone is debating over- I very much like Tulsa Jesus freak is likewise one of the better songs on Chemtrails for me. though I will admit Lolita is a sonic mess for me- I always use the guitar demo-still a cute bop though.

Dealer and dark but just a game belonged on a trip hop album together and I will not be convinced otherwise

This is the first time I will very much disagree with a negative take- Dealer was one of the best songs on that album to me

Anyway with random indirects out the way- what are we thinking in regards to a tour for this album? Would she tour with the lyrical comment seemingly being personal? Who knows

I’ll check out her new release when it comes- I still feel she could make an album that I might think is great someday

Ah that makes sense- I could hear similarities but couldn’t define exactly how but it just sounds like one of his with the song structures etc

God imagine fans having differing opinions to other fans!- not everything has to be overt praise of an artist and this is the problem because critique is okay- nobody is personally bashing lana and calling her talentless etc.

They’re not wrong- people were too keen to put myself and others to the Guillotine when we stated she’s outright mumbling in A&W but then others backed this up by telling us their relatives were singing completely different lyrics

The reason why miley hasn’t had a singular good album yet is because nobody has gotten her personality yet! If you look at her interviews she has opinions but where are they in the music? Instead she’s regulated to generic breakup songs and I’m so high over and over. She needs someone to transcribe her thoughts into songs and to experiment with her voice and production to create her own sound- I think she’d kill a drum driven jazz rock track with scat singing or smth. Songs like Pablow the Blowfish are a good example of actually utilising her

Overall, it’s an okay album but not great- I suspect it will serve its purpose- tik tok virality on “Muddy Feet” aswell as some of the others. The rest can be shipped to the H&M fitting room and I mean that in the nicest way possible- it’s essentially very nice background music.

Handstand was obviously inspired by Lana but is the standout of the album in terms of not sticking to the rigid formula- poetic spoken word dialogue in the vein of ride and psychedelic pop/synth pop production like dead petz.

The production is really great but the melodies and tempos are boring-it’s the same kind of vibe all the way through- fast with an anthem chorus. It sounds like a Harry Styles album is the best way to put it. The tracks could have benefitted from breathing room and a slower tempo in places because you can tell it was engineered for tik tok which won’t give it longevity.

There are some callbacks to dead petz btw- rose coloured lenses is psych pop

There are some more ominous demos here and there- some of the Lolita ones spring to mind and the dark paradise one but yeah if the label were so worried-they wouldn’t have picked the slowest songs as singles when off to the races and diet Mountain Dew were right there.

Lana says a lot of things in interviews tbh, having access to the demos(which we all have) the album was always in a similar vein- baroque pop with trip hop mixed with other inspo creating her alt pop sound. It likely is more uptempo which you can you see but I doubt it was entirely a label decision.
