You have to look at the full picture- saying things like my boyfriends are “rappers” in response to accusations of racism is at worst ignorant and at best misguided deflection from any personal growth. you can’t say sh*t like this and then “I screamed for them” aswell as the mentioned lyrics on the new leaked album- fans wishing she had more guidance in regards to this isn’t fansplaining or hate mongering.

Not really-people always bring up the gender debate and it may have been valid 10 years ago or so but she is a singer songwriter in the traditional mold so she can expect to have her lyrics analysed and critiqued

Honestly I hope some of the lyricism does get panned- she needs a wake-up call that some of her projects should be worked on more critically in regards to writing and this trend started with the over praising of the “f*cked me so good lyric”. The Lanita line in particular is just cringe-everyone in her camp are yes men.

She’s never going to get a low scoring album again, I don’t know what some of you are on 🤷‍♀️ she could release an album of her smoking a bong while ad-libbing and it would get a 7 at this point- the media have gone in the opposite direction critically

Text book is a mess, it was like a few ideas were spit fired with Jack and then he went “genius” and compiled them into a song. I always find her political writing very bad or just straight forward which works better for her.

I’d honestly love a mature “era” too but if you watch her interviews she’s not there yet- perhaps it’s a reaction to becoming 30 but she’s more like herself at the beginning of her career than ever it seems

Nobody’s discography ranking is complete until they’ve listened to her other Magnus “someone’s ugly daughter” tbh- an essential listen

I mean this in the nicest way possible but you’re not going to get it, she hasn’t done a big pivot since her transition to the vroom vroom EP- we thought back then that each release was going to be completely different but she’s mostly stayed in a similar sonic lane since- while crash was significantly poppier and less experimental it wasn’t a big change or anything she hadn’t done at some point. you’re going to get some variation of dance music or pop.

I hope it’s not E=mC2 because that album is bop after bop-just my take but it’s one of her easiest albums to listen to-all uptempo, no filler.

I mean there was a phase where people hated emancipation but I’m guessing it’s the mariah(2014) album

I actually do not like ray of light tbh-I respect madonna and there is some great output there like prince but the albums I can listen to all the way are bedtime stories and Like a virgin-I just never got the hype with that record although frozen is cute and nothing really matters is a good house track along with ray of light-theres just other albums which did what this record did years prior-I think pitchfork was fair here.
