Hm, well, "Brooklyn Baby" is nice but I'm a bit underwhelmed - "Ultraviolence" is my favorite of the new songs so far. And I'm asking myself if the entire UV-album will contain only slow(er) songs like the once we know yet? I'm still hoping for at least some faster tracks!

So since Lanaboards didn't publish my translation, I posted it on my Lana blog. I will edit and correct it tomorrow, but I'm way too tired right now.

    Enjoy!

I remember a time when Lana said she might not be putting out another album, her muse had died ect. When I read that I was seriously disappointed because I thought/think that Born to Die is an amazing album, especially for a debut. Paradise confirmed, to me at least, that Lana was really special. Not just because of her voice and songwriting, but her entire sound. No one has a sound like hers and it's is such a breath of fresh air. So some might wanna bitch and complain about the album cover, track list, release date, videos being in color or b&W ect. but I am just fucking happy a new album is coming out! Especially a new album from a remarkable artist such as Lana. The track listing is intriguing and titillating. Just what I expect from Lana!

I like it, it didn't wow me like Born to Die or Ride did though. Maybe if the whole song would've been in the same style as the chorus...

It's definitely a change of style to the BTD/Paradise-era. I'm not overwhelmed but I like the song!

I hope there won't be any "jazzy" songs on Ultraviolence - MDM already was my least favorite track from BTD...

Ultraviolence's first single 'West Coast' has been confirmed by Lana on Twitter! She also confirmed that the recent leak 'Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight' is not intended for the album and was in fact written and recorded in 2010. Lana: " wrote [MMITPM] for someone else 4 years ago. New single is called West Coast." A release date is yet to be announced.

On Friday 11th April, it was announced that the song will air on radio for the first time on Fearne Cotton's Show on BBC Radio 1 on Monday 14th April between 10:00AM and 12:45PM (British Summer Time). The song will be available to listen to on Spotify when it is officially released. It is unknown if there will be physical copies but it is very likely that it will be released digitally via iTunes before any physicals are available. Lana sang the first two verses acapella on the first date of her tour in Las Vegas and performed the whole song at Coachella.

The song premiered on BBCR1 at 10:40AM (British Summer Time) and Lana uploaded the official audio to her Youtube channel shortly after. Fearne Cotton played the song again that afternoon. The single was released on April 14th in US a few hours after the official audio was uploaded. It was released in the UK the day after on April 15th. The music video was shot in early April and it is directed by Vincent Haycock and stars Lana and Bradley Soileau

Tbh I'm getting kind of nervous about this album just from all the little information that we have.
Unlistenable??? Like what does that even mean. If someone said 'yeah you gotta check this out dude its unlistenable' like who wants that?
The video snippet she posted doesn't exactly show what 'future jazz' might sound like based on the way she was moving, but future jazz could mean anything coming from Lana.
Also with the video snippet, I remember hearing some vague pan flute noises which really scares me.

Idk I'm just extremely skeptical. I love all of Lana's old stuff and I'm glad she's branching out into new genres and all, but I'm afraid I won't like this one.

I think she will continue the sound from Paradise but build on it and sing more about mature themes

idk Paradise is my favourite officially released thing so far so I would love that
  21. CatchTheBreeze liked a post in a topic by Constantine in Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
Paradise is seriously underrated. It is far from perfect( and so is Born To Die) but every single song has a character and it does not blend in with the rest ( in contrast with Born To Die). Also, she sounds human and RAW ( I honestly have no fucking idea where you guys getting this whole too edited shit) again, in contrast with certain songs on BTD like Dark Paradise, Lucky Ones, Without You or Million Dollar Man...

I do like Little Boots too! Her last single was fantastic, quite Saint Etienne-esque.

    Some artists/bands I like a lot:
Mylène Farmer - she used to be my favourite female singer for about 20 years (until Lana came along ). Her early clips were epic, dark, mysterious pieces of art.

For a bit of noise I fancy Danish duo The Raveonettes:
