This is a cool thread idea. I do wanna say, a lot of what she tweets is song lyrics of other artists, movie quotes, and poetry. Some people think her old tweets are 100% original and give her credit when it's due to Walt Whitman or Goodfellas or even Ben Franklin ha ha but of course if she uses something like Ruby Tuesday/ 7 eleven/ some drink name and you can't find it on google, imo it was lyrics to an unheard song or she was forming ideas for one. Omg though sometimes I find myself stealing her tweets to say sweet things to my boyfriend and he thinks its just be bein a qt #Sorryboutit

"I know a poet. He's sweet as pie, writes poems about me that make me cry. Arthur miller, 12 years senior, he's my bugga baby sigh" (Mar 21, 2009)"

I think this is about Chris C. He wrote a poem for her called Marilyn Sunrise or something like that. I talked to him and he said she was only his muse, they never had a ~romantic relationship~ but I'm not sure how old he is!

I love how @MissDaytona swings between shit you'd tweet when you're drunk, mysterious seemingly insightful thoughts and lyrics. I'll get my lanalysis on and report back. Wonderful thread idea by the way

I have noticed this repetitive lyrical drought, too, but I don't think it's due to a sudden lack of creativity. I see her early material as the result of many years in which ideas evolved and thrived that later found their output on AKA. Same thing can be said about Born to Die: there are dozens of expressions and phrases found on Born to Die that originate from post-AKA unreleased songs. An important factor in the creation and development of both, AKA and Born to Die, is time, I think. Back then, when she wrote both albums there was little pressure and she had enough time to think and experiment. With the re-release of Born to Die last November, which I think was terribly rushed, it almost feels like they took unfinished new material which eventually became Paradise. She uses the same words all over again on Paradise which, admittedly, has its charm in terms of 'her lyrical architecture' but at the same time it testifies a certain rashness. Universal clearly wanted to boost the success of Born to Die and Paradise became the incomplete manifestation of it. Which is very sad as I think of her as a talented writer in the first place, someone who appreciates words on another level than other people. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that it takes time and independency for her to fully develop her ideas and mold them into songs. She didn't have this time with Paradise and I think it shows with most songs on that album.

That being said, I don't quite see how this lyrical drought continues with "Young and Beautiful." When I heard it yesterday, it did by far sound not as monotonous and similar like all the other Paradise tracks. At this point, I'd like a confirmation on wether the song has been written for the film, or if it's indeed a left-over from Paradise. In case of the latter, I can see why it got omitted on the album as it is pretty much in "spiritual" vein of her upcoming album. Spiritual not because of the mentioning of God and heaven, but I think there is a more subtle and profound side to the song.

Sirens is included in the Anthology, and frankly, no: I'm not going to upload it anywhere. I spent months researching all kinds of songs and where to get them, plus looking for their original leak quality and then spent days organizing them in iTunes. Excuse my bluntness, but we all had to look for these tracks and we all invested a lot of time to get them.

It's funny, i was just thinking about this the other day and i had an epiphany of sorts. When i sent her a message with a link to the Money Hunny cover i recorded, i addressed her as Lizzy. I'm not sure why i did that, but i didn't give it much thought. I guess i thought it was cute and personal (why did i feel like i needed to be cute and personal?) Since then, for unrelated reasons, i've been thinking about stuff like identity and different trangender issues, and in thinking about some of these things, i suddenly realized that it was in very poor taste to call her Lizzy because it disregards or overrides her decision. It's almost like taking away a person's agency and putting a decision that is not yours in your hands. It's presumptuous and even condescending. I don't think it's really any different than a situation where someone is, say, born female and wishes to be referred to as "he" and not respecting that decision just because the person wasn't born male. She chose the name Lana Del Rey, so i think that decision ought to be respected. It's not our call to address her by anything else.

Perhaps some of you will think that i'm overthinking this and taking it too seriously, but i just thought i'd pass along my thoughts on the matter because i think it's worth thinking over. For whatever it's worth, i really regret calling her Lizzy.

The Illuminati DO exist, just not in the context you're thinking of. Lana isn't famous enough, or rich enough to be even considered by the 'Illuminati' (that you're thinking of) I'm getting tired of EVERY new artist or existing artist be connected with this 'illuminati' In conclusion, NO she isn't in the Illuminati, unless she's joined the freemasons and we just haven't heard about it.

On a second note, I actually like the dress. Watching the videos of her posing with the Awards, it looks good...not super old as I first thought it was.
    So proud of her btw.
