  1. That is definitely something to think about... Though the singer in this sings very different, they sing in the same range, but edited it could sound more like lana
  2. I think Ultraviolence overall is Lana expressing her wants and what she thinks about most + a bit of 'freedom' and powerful statements The songs Cruel World and Brooklyn Baby are her expressing how she is free and empowered, despite others bringing her down and misunderstanding her. West Coast, Old Money is about her love (her wants/desires) Old Money, Sad Girl is about her longings (what she thinks about a lot) Fcked My Way Up 2 the Top is a statement (joke) like Money Power Glory Ultraviolence, Pretty When You Cry are about her relationships gone wrong and being neglected/treated unfairly (obviously whats on her mind a lot) The bonus tracks dont really fit in with these themes, which is probably why she made them extras
  3. Ur Girl (3 years) & Sad Girl (kinda think that Sad Girl was a reworked version that made the Ultraviolence tracklist instead of Ur Girl And I sort of think Fine China and Yes to Heaven sounds like Is This Happiness and I Can Fly. No specific parts, just overall. Playing Dangerous chorus reminds me a lot of West Coast chorus Angels Forever and Ride obviously Starry Eyed sounds a bit like a very slow Million Dollar Man and then the Lucky Ones chorus
  4. Yeah cause i listened to the original (Id actually heard it a while ago but didnt recognise it from the live version) and yeah the live one is also something lana would do live as a surprise. even if she doesnt ever do it i just hope she hears it one day, we all know shed love it ^_^
  5. OH MY GOD i think that is the perfect fairytale movie for Lana to contribute to. Oh please oh please oh please EDIT: ok so its apparently unlikely and the position is already taken ugh. ALSO remember when we all thought the new video (filmed last year) was going to be for Terrence Loves You? A video for that would have been beautiful but we're anticipating this new album way too much for a honeymoon finale now. Hahahaha.
  6. Omg literally, vocals, music style, and lyrics wowwwowowow And it also sounds a little like Swan Lake theme (the strings) and she often gets her inspiration form iconic things like that
  7. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THESE im in love i always look for voices like this, like Lana, and Cat Power Found this one too and its totally her vibe I like this, its sorta grungy, like the 90s and early 2000's.
  8. https://www.instagram.com/p/BO9btzzFl67/?taken-by=lanadelrey i think shes democrat
  9. Isn't Rick Nowels back to produce this with her? As well as Emile Haynie? I think this is gonna be a huge big surprise to us omg *heart eyes*
  10. The blackest day physically breaks my heart And angels forever makes me feel more pure
  11. I do not see how. Discussing this in other topics would be off-topic to those threads.... Here is just a place to talk about changed opinions all in one spot so we don't have to go searching through every single thread to find out on occasion....
  12. That's exactly what I used to think about video games
  13. So maybe some of you like me have had opinions that have changed about Lana over the years so im just gonna mention mine: and TELL ME ABOUT YOURS! Its so interesting how our opinions change ----------------------------------- I used to hate the Paradise album art. I thought she looked too fake tanned, and that she was wearing extensions, so it was too fake for my liking, but now i think its pretty artful and beautiful. Its like her idea of heaven. ----------------------------------- I didn't like National Anthem, or Off to the Races, when i first heard them because i didn't like anything that was similar to rap music back then, but now i love them, they're my favourites to sing! I dont even like Blue Jeans on the first couple of listens cause of the way she sung the verses. but its the song that makes me most emotional now. ----------------------------------- I got scared off from Cola at first because of "My pussy tastes like pepsi cola". I thought she was being up herself and trying to get all the attention, but I realised she's basically joking and having fun, and now Cola is one of my favourite songs ----------------------------------- I thought Brooklyn Baby was boring at first and didn't know why it was a promo single for Ultraviolence. But now I love it ofc, and know its means a lot to her and her lifestyle. Its just a chill song, so i know why she didn't put strings and more elements into it ----------------------------------- I think everyone had this opinion but I thought the last half of the Honeymoon Album (Burnt Norton to DLMBM) were too quiet and not interesting. I listened to it at night in bed and was kinda like 'WTF' and went to sleep a little disappointed. But then the next day I woke up, listened to it almost all day, and by the end of the day it was my favourite album. ----------------------------------- When I first listened to the full Born to Die album, i thought Lana was weird and too into this idea that she was always some black guys 'little dolly' or something, so I stopped liking her for like 1 week but that didnt last :'D i mean wtf, that's a f'd up thought to have ----------------------------------- When she first dyed her hair dark brown i thought she looked terrible cause i was used to the light brown, but now I think its the sexiest look on her ----------------------------------- I used to not like ANY of her AKA and unreleased stuff. I was like "thank GOD she didnt release these" but now they're like my biggest guilty pleasure, cause i know she's not happy about a lot of them being leaked, but i love them too much to give up
  14. OMFG i used to HATE the paradise album art, in fact when i first came across it i thought it ws so fake, like she was fake tanned suddenly, and i pretty much refused to listen to the new paradise songs :'D but now it my favourite, maybe not the art, but the songs. The original photo that was meant to be the Ultraviolence album art, would have been my favourite album art if they didnt change it because 'the cigarette made it seem too much about drugs"
  15. 1. I mean, Summertime Sadness is ANGELIC, but I really love the demo just as much. It gives it a different vibe. It feels almost Hawaiian which is imo the feeling she had when she wrote the song. 2. I could never hate on lana's voice, but i actually cant listen to the National Anthem demo because of how her voice sounds. It sounds like Brittany Spears was singing with a peg on her nose. Idk why I have that opinion. I WISH i could listen to it and love the demo cause the instrumental and background choir is amazing I hope this opinion changes eventually. Pls dont hate me 3. I dont know why everyone wants a BTD #2 with more upbeat pop-ish songs! I want her to do something unique, like AKA #2, but better recording. People who want more pop lana should just start listening to marina more or something I can see this in Music to watch boys to. I kinda dont really know what she was doing there... The underwater shots were the only thing i liked about that video, and the neon sign flickering at the start. I can't think of any other videos where i have that opinion but on her old, home-recorded videos I used to think the shots of her sitting down, wearing wigs, singing to the camera looked so dorky and embarrassing, but now ive grown to love them and think its cute.
  16. AKA: Kill Kill, Mermaid Motel Demos: Lucky Ones, This is What Makes Us Girls (the second version) BTD: Born to Die, Million Dollar Man P: Ride (For how i can relate), Cola and Gods & Monsters (vibe) UV: Cruel World, Black Beauty (for lyrics), Guns and Roses HM: Freak, The Blackest Day, Religion Unreleased: Angels Forever, Big Bad Wolf, 3 Years Other: Big Eyes, Prisoner (with the Weeknd), Dayglo Reflection (with Bobby Womack) LOVE it xxxx but just one question? Why does no one like Guns and Roses? Towards the end of the song where it gets trippy is my favourite part of any Lana song tbh. Its worth listening just for that part. And the drums haunt me at the very end. ALL TIME: Angels Forever, Freak, Cola, Gods and Monsters
  17. THANK YOU!!! wow i much prefer this version too. its only subtle differences, and the meaning hits you so much more! It's like "You're heart is unbreakable" but hers is, with the knife projection. "You are invincible" but she is, and she can drown when he cant. I don't understand why it got changed for the official. i made a tumblr post about it http://subversiviolence.tumblr.com/post/154415876998/directors-cut-of-shades-of-cool
  18. Red: sacred, power Orange: certain flowers Yellow: joy Green: nature Blue: calm Indigo: the unknown Violet: my aura

    Grimes

huh? wheres it say its not true? i just remember so many articles coming out saying she did it cause she didnt like it
  20. Im reading the A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones books). They're so amazing and so much better than the show. The one im up to is A Dance With Dragons, so the last one i read was A Feast For Crows
  21. Ive been a fan since 2014. Im so proud of how they went with Blurryface :') They deserve it

    Grimes

She's one of my favourite artists, and she produces herself too. She's just so amazing. I love her teaming up with HANA all the time too. They're like ultimate duo. Ive known grimes since 2013. I loved her newest Art Angels album, it was so different from anything i've heard before, including her old stuff. A lot more vocals which was cool. But i do have to say I was a bit upset that she had completely scrapped the work she had done for the album that was meant to be instead of AA. She said she deleted it all because she decided she didnt like it and wanted something different, which I totally support her doing what she feels is rights, but Like her song David (that she sang live only once or twice i think) was AMAZING and im so upset ill never hear a studio version. Her vocals and the instrumentals were so perfect Wish we could have heard the rest of the album, even if she just released them in an EP or something I guess we never will though.

    Melanie Martinez

I like her a lot. I've been a fan since her first song Dollhouse came out. At first I was a bit wary of her Cry Baby album, cause I thought all the baby, childish references was some weird fettish that disgusted me, and was encouraging sexuality of young children, BUT then I realised it was really just like a younger persona of who she is and how her life has been. And that all the references are really meaningful and chaotic to young adults. I realise its NOT a fettish, and she's not even sexualising it. She doesn't pop out her boobs, she isn't making out with other people in her music videos, etc. Her Mrs. Potato Head video proves that she's actually calling out all that sh_t. She's raw, she's actually an amazing self-director, and she is a really nice person irl too. Some people were calling her rude to her fans because of one incident when fans were yelling obscene things at her on stage while she was trying to explain the song Mrs. Potato Head, and that upset her and she was like "I'm talking!". But when you know how meaningful that song was to her, and that people were yelling out rude things among the many "I LOVE YOUUU!"'s (such as "sit on my face!") then you'll understand she is not mean or rude at all. And really grateful for her fans <3
  24. HOW can i FORGET. I was really hoping Cola would be on Tropico, or at least its own music video. Ugh well, we did get the cool poem monologue for Cola. But there are sooo many songs on radio about drugs and sex. Maybe its just when a female does it its suddenly not okay -_- idekBut they could easily just silence the "p*ssy" in Cola like they do with a lot of swear words on radio clean versions. Oh well
