So I was perched in the tinyleak chat. I had a lot of fun!

gah! the traders were discussing what songs to leak like:
Roses, Making Out, I'm Fucked, Midnight Dancer Girlfriend, and another song with a title like My Best Day (can't really remember for sure)

Another thing of interest was that Lana has another shelved album called Rock Me Stable and songs on the album are being traded around among the community.

One trader was really pissed because he had recently gotten a hold of unreleased songs but they were all leaked during the Holocaust. I told him that he had gotten everything only to lose everything. So now he knows what true freedom is.

y'all doing too much with these conspiracies. This is libel. So what If he decided to mentor Lana in music so what? I can't but smh and pray for this man's career as an educator being run through the mud and being in question as we try to piece together these abstractions that Lana works with. Her mind is like a diamond.

A great teacher should be able to recognize the strengths of their students and hopefully encourage growth as a whole person. He is clearly able to make a connection with his students as reflected by his popularity grades. Who knows what would have happened if he had never shown Lizzy classic hip-hop?

LANA WAS SO AMAZING! I'm so glad I got to see her again. I can share my pictures for sure. I have some videos of the show too but I am unashamingly singing along to it. If anyone is intersted in them? They're not really stable videos with a bunch of shaky cam in them. The best song she sang was Ultraviolence. Her emoting in her singing was spellbinding.

I'm not bashing low quality vids, but it looks like it was literally shot on an iPhone (wheras Summertime Sadness wasn't).
She could have co-directed it with a big director and get the same message/storyline out in a better looking video...

The fact that the preview on Noisey's YouTube (the intro of the song) and the preview on Instagram (the bridge) look exactly the same with no progress to me just says that this video is going to be awful. Looks like she stole a wedding dress and broke into a chapel to film it or something... Morello from OITNB teas

BTD is glossy where in UV is gritty. I think Lana did a better job with occupying the narrative of the Other Woman in UV (mistress, rock star girlfriend, gold-digger, jilted lover). The songs stand out more to me in BTD but the album of UV is a unified story. The lyrics on UV are more up-front and visceral, BTD's lyricism require a bit more imagination to enjoy.

BTD is genre-bending Trip-hop beats & samples, orchestral strings, vintage vocals, an intentional contralto. And in a lot of ways, UV is not new, The instrumentation is a throwback to classic rock n roll. Even has a cover. So the album feels familar even though it's a newer album.

I'm really suprised Lana went [back] to this sound in UV. Like the Get Drunk sessions but with a bigger budget. BTD was a ambitious debut, and Ultraviolence seems like it should be the debut LP of a singer with BTD as the follow-up. Like the way releases progress as indie-engenue's become more popular points to Marina & Ellie.

The visuals in BTD are stronger so far. Shades of Cool is an amazing video, but it doesn't stand a candle to BTD(song) or BJ (either versions). West Coast is cute, I love the shots of Lana falling asleep as Karl Lagerfeld drives the car.

@@Monicker sent me a link to this fantastic episode of "Popcast", a podcast produced by The New York Times' ArtsBeat culture blog. A discussion between Jon Pareles, the author of that great NYT review, and Ben Ratliff, the skeptical yet open-minded host, this is the most intelligent conversation I've heard about LDR in the media ever. Truly a must listen. Apart from being just a great podcast, another reason @@Monicker sent it to me is because I'd told him he'd probably think I was crazy, but the guitar intro of "Cruel World" reminds me in small ways of the intros to several different Beach Boys songs. He did think think I was crazy at first, so we were both incredibly amused when Jon Pareles backed me up! Anyway, @@Monicker says it better than I can so I'll let him introduce it:
