Wild Flag - "Romance" Carrie Brownstein's roles in Portlandia are so funny, I figured I should give her music a try.

I think 2010, but I'm not sure. I doubt it's as new as "Radio," but until something concrete is unearthed, it will have to remain a mystery.

I think it's the angry overtone. I can't think of any other Lana song that sounds even remotely upset like this....it's a side of Lizzy/Lana that we knew existed, but never had heard more clearly. Imagine a four-song EP released with this + a few more 'angry' songs...that would be incredible.

Whenever dates or minutes are mentioned in the context of Tumblr + leaking, I lose hope.

It's so cute! I love her vocals...like a more idyllically minded "Afraid," but less scared sounding. Best of the lot so far for me!

The "Here with Me" video is one of my favourites all year.

"Never Let Me Go (Blood Orange Remix)" by Florence + the Machine. Turns the whole song around upon itself...sounds almost like "Backfire" at some parts. I guess it's just another spacey slow jam.

There is none. Karen made some comment about not using cellphones, so I assume the crowd obliged her. But here's the best article I can find about their performance. SPIN is by far my favourite music publication--they're so on top of things!

Official "I had the song before it leaked" thread

I do too. :/ I mean, I don't like that he hacked, but he provided easily as much info as CG. He was kinda weird, though...then again, I'm not quite sure how much the cultural differences were a part of that. -
This seriously needs to be EQed...I'm astounded that you were able to decipher the lyrics even this much.

I think we might get lucky on this wish! At their latest gig, they apparently did a new song called "Despair." I don't remember exactly how SPIN described it, but they compared it to "Dog Days are Over," which automatically makes me drool with longing.

I don't know about just once, but the one performance (or part of it) we do have is massively different from every studio recording we have of it....it's kinda a special case. I bet it's the effects, or maybe even the vocal take they used. The demo on Ben's SoundCloud is an incredible, anthemic masterpiece, but the album version definitely doesn't live up to its predecessors.

A couple weeks ago, I would've agreed with you 100%. But some things have happened over the past few days that have rocked my Lana worldview, and though I think we're far from over with this drama, "Noir" is no longer the end. It's not gonna be an easy journey (especially the more people "trade"), but eventually I feel like we will reach a state of Lana nirvana. At least, I hope. Hence, it would be best for all of us to climb into our hibernation capsules and go to sleep for the next few decades, until there are no more songs to leak. -
Honestly, I struggle with this too. I would say they're trying to cause strife and emnity among the Lana fanbase, but they don't seem intelligent enough to have such a grand scheme in mind. Maybe they just want to be super-annoying and instigate leaks. I bet the blog will be gone soon, but I'm getting tired of waiting.

Oh, thank you sooooooooooooo much!!! :3 I don't think so. :/

I really don't like to beg, but does anyone here have a physical copy of Ghost? I bid on a copy on eBay (there aren't many!), but I'm not gonna get it....and I really, really want to have the five songs on it in lossless. If anyone could help, I'd be insanely obliged.

Another "Dull Life" would be great, so would another "Zero" or "Heads Will Roll." If they were any other band, they would see that NME and SPIN listed "Zero" as best freakin' song of the year, but they're the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so we'll probably never get another work like that again. Thing is, as a 'junior' record, the LP is perfect. It has it's 'party' moments (not the best word, but it works), but the increased thoughtfulness as shown through the ballads and midtempo pieces is perfect. "Hysteric" and "Soft Shock" both have their places [though "Faces" should've replaced the latter!!!!!], and of all the songs, I'd have to say "Shame & Fortune" fits the least. Finally, "Skeletons" is great. I know some prefer the acoustic, but the bagpipe-esque effects are.....beautiful.

Unreleased songs you want Lana to rework/release
Madrigal replied to Hundred Dollar Bill's topic in Lana Thoughts
The leaked version is very rough. I love the sound, the lyrics, and the fragility of her vocals on it, but I think that at least another mix would be sublime. I feel like that song could've gone so many ways...but I wouldn't want to hear a BTD/P version. A demo, though, sounds tantalizing. -
Didn't you say "Smarty" was bop, though? I think I remember that, at the bottom of a post, in a spoiler, perhaps even striked through.
-
Interesting! I think that it fits Ke$ha better than it would anyone else though...except for maybe fun. Nate performed some of it here, and it really sounds good! I would be! I do like the bridge on the album version, for sure, but I miss the additional lyrics around the line "hard-core" making out. :/ I think it's a C R I M E that RCA didn't release the songs she did with Calvin Harris, or with Sia. Those songs were all sounding so incredible, and when I listen to something like "Dirty Love," which did somehow make the record, I am flabbergasted.

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Madrigal replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
Yes. I remember it had a version of "Million Dollar Man" for sure, and probably "Blue Jeans..." Ahmed bid on it, but from some tweets he made, he made it sound like he was not able to actually acquire the CD. -
Wow...this is hard. I'm gonna go with "Brite Lites," even though I do think they're on par with each other in almost everything. "Brite Lites" vs. "Backfire."
