  1. she's not going, and even if she did, no one is going to be asking about this album. She has meticulously killed any and all hype this record once had. I doubt NFR is even a known thing outside of the stans. Her poetry book being sold for $1 and the Gucci campaign generated more news and articles than anything she's done with this album.
  2. her first good decision in a while. can she edit them out in real life too?

    Taylor Swift

i refuse to believe this isn't for an upcoming kids movie
  4. "I’m hoping that it happens in the next six months or so." so what are everyone's plans for the next 5 years while we wait?
  5. definitely Lana so they can remind themselves they are hanging out with a famous celebrity

    Madonna

that makes more sense, but there are better ways to pay tribute to Frida than bad graphic design.

    Madonna

the standard cover looks horrible. Why is her name in her eyebrows? The pic looks like an outtake from a magazine shoot, and just too glossy. I like the second one, though.
  8. people really think her album flopping is gonna lead to some huge epiphany where she changes her ways? Please. It will just lead to an even more passive aggressive, low quality, dragged out era. She doesn't listen to anyone. Maybe if her yoga sessions and matcha tea get taken away, then we can talk.
  9. she is probably over the album already. it's all about the poetry now.
  10. i was expecting a kind of moody lofi synth thing, but this is nice. That chorus is so 70s.
  11. exactly. also the whole "we should hate Billie because her album got NFR pushed back" makes no sense logically, and really proves the opposite. if that's even what happened, it means Lana is enough of a threat to Billie that the label didn't want Lana to overshadow Billie's debut, especially since the label is clearly pushing Billie as the next big thing in pop music. Lana and Billie make darker, less traditional pop music. That's really where the comparison starts and ends.
  12. lana does not get to set her release schedules. She gets a say in just about everything else and probably fights a lot with her label to do as little promo as possible and release songs like VB. There's just no genuine reason it needs to be released tomorrow, and with Billie's record coming tomorrow, that's a good reason to steer clear of any releases. If they wanted to do a Lana vs Billie thing with fans competing for the most buys/streams, they would have had to start Lana's promo campaign a long time ago. i have no idea what music is supposed to be released in the next couple of months, but if there is a big summer rush, i don't see this album dropping until July, with maybe her poetry book coming out middle or end of June.
  13. a very confusing think piece that links Madonna at 60 with Lana at coachella in 2017 and Notting Hill references. No news.
  14. i like it a lot. It feels like being pulled down into a nightmare, in a good way.
  15. Her leaving in the spelling mistakes is, of course, a very well-thought out commentary, and dare I say even critique, of our advanced and continuously evolving understanding to and relationship with communication and how we seek and find meaning in the written word in this realm and in others, both in time present and perhaps time past, which of course leads us to time future. It deals with metaphysics, time travel and time bends, and a little bit of the occult. It's terribly advanced, only true crying crustaceans will get it.
  16. i mean, her effort has taken a big hit since 2016, but it really hasn't affected her shows/ticket sales at all, so why should she care? her shows have only gotten bigger, she can go down to the barricade and recognize a lot of fans because of the number of times theyve come to her shows, a lot of her fans scream/sing the lyrics and completely drown her out, a lot of BTD songs were written close to or over a decade ago, all of her performances are just for the fans so it's not like she has to worry about going on TV and getting criticized in the media for putting in a bad performance. in 2012-2015 she was still proving herself, first as establishing her persona and then having to show that she wasn't a one hit/one album wonder, as well as fighting off the "she doesn't know how to sing/she's not authentic" criticisms thrown at her. she was also experiencing fame for the first time after having worked for it for a number of years. a lot of the 2012-2015 performances I loved (especially 2012-2013) because they just seemed so cathartic for her, which is way more interesting to watch. but now she just seems over a lot of it. Over the songs, over the LDR persona, over trying to climb higher on the fame ladder. She seems just to want a more simple life at this point (with occasional private jet flights). Unless she makes bad financial moves, she can probably retire right now from the money she's made (and continues to make in sales and show tickets). She's experienced enough of the bad parts of fame to probably not want more of it. On top of that, she has finally earned respect in her industry which she didn't have at all before. People know she's the real deal and there's nothing more to prove. She accomplished what she set out to accomplish in life (at least in this point of her life). I don't blame her at all, but I also can't buy when people say she's just comfortable on stage. She's never looked less comfortable. I really miss her new york "take me or leave me" energy she had at one point and when she seemed to give more of a fuck.
  17. Interscope better be okay with this album because i can't see Lana taking any notes or going back to the studio to redo things. If the label rejects the album as it currently is, we're probably not getting it. They need to call Adele's producer again to come in and say it's perfect.
  18. I feel like lana's over the album, and maybe even the instagram baddie thing. She's a quiet gentle LA earth and herb/yoga loving poet now. Things will just sit still for the next couple of months and then Lana will like randomly release the album with maybe one Instagram caption, and the vast majority of her online presence will be towards the poetry book that, after months of talking about how she's binding and pressing it herself and the book will be so beautiful, will probably get thrown together in an ebook.
  19. honestly i kind of like this. I wish more covers were like this and kind of reinvent what the song is or what it could mean. I like that she's not trying to do her impression of Lana because whenever artists try that it always sounds so weird.
  20. I knew she'd write about Azealia Banks one of these days.
  21. lana is the master of giving us news that only leads to more questions than we had before.
  22. probably will just give one vague non-answer of "you know, I guess thematically, I'd just been looking at the way things were, and I really felt a greater shift in my path that I wanted to explore. Just based on what I'd done before, I wanted to maybe take the road a little less traveled, and stand firm in that." Followed by ten question and answers about the best yoga studios in LA.
  23. eh, kind of like the way it's structured, all the lines flow together better. idk the best way to describe it.
  24. the new poem is kind of nice. it has a rhythm to it that the other two didn't have.
