    Lorde

I really like the album. It's good from start to finish, there's not a single dud on Melodrama.
  2. This is the first Lana interview that I couldn't finish. What is she talking about? She's more boring than a politician. She reads the news? Good for her! Unfortunately her music is becoming as boring as this interview. The photoshoot is ok I guess but I couldn't care less.
  3. LOL. This era...I want to get over it already tbh and to enjoy a few good songs from this album
  4. It's impossible for me to hate her more and I never listened to her "music".
  5. She's such a poser sometimes. I liked way more lynchian and rock Lana.
  6. No. I reealy like the Weekend, especially his early releases. LFL is a dud because of the god-awful lyrics. I just can't listen to this:: "Cause we're the masters of our own fate We're the captains of our own souls There's no way for us to come away 'Cause boy we're gold, boy we're gold And I was like" and after that cringe fest it's coming ad nauseam: "Take off, take off Take off all your clothes" and finished me off with: "They say only the good die young That just ain't right 'Cause we're having too much fun Too much fun tonight, yeah" LFL has some of her worst lyrics. The whole thing is just hollow and meaningless. On top of that, she "borrowed" the title from a famous and old song that belongs to a punk icon. YUK
  7. I hope that this is a fake track-list. It's hard (and silly) to judge a song from the title but this track list doesn't look good at all. LFL and CWIMM are certified duds and they will be panned critically. The fact that she put CWIMM in the middle of the record it just reinforces my impression that this album is a hodgepodge of ideas (Love and LFL shouldn't be on the same album). The cover has little in common with the content of the album. Hype 0, expectation from this album 0. This era can only get better from this point tbh.
  8. This is why I was so baffled by the G Eazy story. The bad boys, drugs were just in her imagination, it was a fantasy world, something like a Disneyland with a gangster theme. She's basically a decent girl who needs someone like Barrie or Fran in her life. I hope that she finds someone good for her soon
  9. BTD is a great pop album. The melodies, her voice are just on point on BTD. I listened yesterday to the album and it has a certain swagger to it.
  10. I read recently this piece on Lana from Pitchfork. http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/the-evolution-of-the-lana-del-rey-persona-in-7-videos/ I tried to make sense about the purpose of this article full of Lana clichés. I think that the few relevant music blogs and critics that still care about her are trying to position themselves after flip-flopping throughout Lana's career. HM was a difficult album to criticize because was slow and without glaring deficiencies. It not enthused anyone but it had its moments. This era the critics were put in the limbo again by Lana, Love was universally apraised while LFL was simply dismissed as a hollow perfume ad by Pitchfork. I think that they are tired with what they perceive as "trolling" from Lana and they want to pin her down this time around. Some of you said that maybe she's pushing back even on the July date. I think that she needs to really take a good (critical) look at this album because the signals that we have so far aren't good. There are too many tracks on the album (and belive me that is a bad sign for critics), her message and lyrics are inconsistent, she has to many collabs on the record that are hardly working toghether (Stevie and ASAP?). I think that she is improvising to much this era, she's clearly not confident with the album and the last thing she needs after HM is another commercial and critical flop.

    Lorde

This is the first Lorde album that I listened in full. I wasn't interested in her, she was way to young to take her seriously, Royals was annoying and there were bad vibes between her and Lana when Pure Heroine came out. Most of the issues that I had with her are gone now and I have to say that I discovered a talented and very consistent lyricist throughout Melodrama. I still think that Pitchfork overrated the album but this is a solid release nonetheless. I inevitably compared her to Lana and i found her very dissimilar, her lyricism and sound are very different from Lana's. On record, Lana is a much better and more versatile vocalist but the production of the songs and the sound in general on Melodrama seem more modern and varied than what is Lana proposing with LFL. The big difference between the two is the message which is consistent and well thought out on Melodrama compared with the mishmash of ideas that is LFL so far.
  12. It's obvious that we are in different phases in our relationship with Lana. I still care about her as a person but much less for her music compared with the UV era when I was at my height of my Lana obsession. With a certain detachment, I see differently her output compared with the groupies from here (which I understand btw because I was in the same place a while ago). I have some unpopular issues this era: I cannot connect emotionally with her latest singles (Love and LFL) for different reasons. I'm too old to be preached to and to enjoy her faux escapism (through suicide again) which was implied in LFL (less in the song but was obvious in the LFL video). LFL, the single, underlines everything that is wrong in her artistic approach: lazy lyrics full of clichés, plagiarism, lazy singing and no real message. The video, which is in my opinion one of her worst, underlines that she is still lying about her influences. The video is clearly alluding to suicide at the end and it's just too much coincidence with the Entwistle story to believe her that she never heard about it beforehand. The fact that she quoted old, famous lyrics in all her released songs this era is just inexcusable from a 32 y.o. artist. I hope that I will not hear any namedropping, or famous quotes on her remaining songs from the album. More disappointing is that she alluded with Love to a positive message, which was btw well executed with a lovely video, just to come back to this campy suicide theme. Her style of singing, which marred HM, is full of mumbled lines as she is waking up from a long sleep. This hinders her beautiful voice and frankly is rarely appropriate for the song. All her latest snippets are full of mumbled lines and it’s barely understandable what she is singing about. What was the purpose of gathering this arguably great set of collaborations if you hide your release in late July? As the charting of the LFL single pointed out the collabs alone with not help her selling the record. I think that she had a different plan in her mind before starting this era, she felt maybe that is the time for her to come out again before the GP but she lost her courage on the way and pushed back the album when nobody is looking. I tried to watch her BBC set again and it was just as sad: she was too often out of tune and off pitch. I'm so bored seeing her strolling up the stage like a shy schoolgirl in a minidress. I hate that she's cosying up to the rapper scene. It seems forced from her like that latina thing that she tried out in Tropico. Her G Eazy thing is just like...her picture with the spinner: silly and embarrassing. End of rant. I will take a pause until her album is coming out because this Instagram teasing is just lame
  13. There were some disappointing things this era so far but the worst for me it's that she's dating this raper caricature. It's not my business who she's dating but this guy is just beyond ridiculous and she's not a 15 y.o. airhead anymore. The spinner is just the icing on the cake. Now sing some "profound" song Lana about G Eazy and the spinner and make it a duet with Cupcakke . The spinners and their spinners...What's the world coming to...we are truly in idiocracy
  14. Lana please stop. It's so obvious that you're not in a happy place. Wtf are you doing? These snippets are just further diminishing the album. I refuse to listen to them. I cannot believe that she's leaking her own stuff through instagram, in her car. It seems so careless. Other artists are presenting their inferior music to the whole world meanwhile our Lana is leaking her own music on instagram. She seems to be yet again in meltdown mode... What was the reason for what she delayed the release until July 21th?! At least HM was a quick, straightforward depressive release that matched the album's vibe, this era is just a mess...
