Vespertine will be one of the only few albums I'll never get tired of. Even though I've already listened to it tons, it's so addictive!! Hidden Place, Undo, Unison, Heirloom and Pagan Poetry are all soooo amazing. I love this entire album so so much. It's also one of the few albums that I can get through in a sitting without feeling bored. Even though the songs are so peaceful and calming, they excite and amp you up in a certain way, too.

Does anybody have links to where I can watch her performances at The Shed from September 2019? I know that she performed for at least a few nights, so there's gotta be more than just the one long video on YouTube. Also I cannot wait for this albummm!!!

I can't stop listening to this song and watching the video!!!! I loveee the scenes where she's got the laser pointers on her back and on her eye and she's riding the bull. This video is so cool and the song is so addictive and beautiful. I can't wait for the album!!!

Now, I understand the point Lana was trying to make, which is that she gets backlash for writing about 'taboo' topics such as abuse, drugs, sex, etc, but what in the hell was the point of bringing in all of those other female artists? She's acting as if none of those artists have ever gotten backlash for the same lyrical themes, when in reality they've probably received more hate from it than Lana has. What did they ever do to her? And also, her lyrics are a LOT different than some of the stuff that Doja Cat and Ariana Grande are writing about. Lana has written about abuse, addiction, cheating, etc, and I'm not saying at all that Doja and Ariana are any less than Lana for not writing lyrical content like that, but I don't think I've ever seen songs by them that go that deeply into topics like that. So comparing these artists to her don't really make any sense in the first place. I don't know, I just think it's a stupid point to make when she's an incredibly successful singer and songwriter, her last album got tons of great reviews and debuted at number 3 on Billboard, and she's a millionaire white woman!! I'm not saying millionaire white women can't have any problems, but having to drag multiple black women over her OWN problems seems kind of entitled. (is that the right word? I don't know, but it's stupid lol)

Surprised there wasn't a thread for her already but I love this girls music!! (im sorry if the videos dont pop right or if this post looks ugly i dont know how to make threads on here )
-
Ok but I have songs I love from 10+ years ago from other artists that I still love and they don't sound stale at all to me. I was never trying to drag anything, either... Just giving my opinion on her older songs lol. It doesn't have to be that serious, I still like some of her older songs.

Does anybody else think that a lot of her songs have aged pretty badly? I tried going back to listen to some of her older singles, and I just didn't like them nearly as much as I did before. Cherry, Alone and Tattoo are still great songs, but besides that... I dunno. She needs to release new fresh songs!

Just because it's something a lot of other singers are afraid to do doesn't mean that it's automatically a great film... Is2g can people not give their opinions on this site? LOL, I know a lot of people probably loved this movie but it's just not for me, and IMO, I thought it was bad. And my personal beliefs of Melanie are also probably affecting my opinion on this as well, so take that with a grain of salt. Not everybody has to love her!

Watched the movie... I'm sorry but it was so bad I give her props for trying to direct her own movie, but girl... This was bad. Like, real bad. Plot didn't make ANY sense, the random scenes between the school setting and just random ones (like her in the orange field dancing around, or the scene in detention when they're in the glass box) threw me off, and the acting... whew chile.... I can understand the bad acting just because there probably wasn't a HUGE budget for this movie, but it really killed the vibe for me. Not a fan. The album was okay. My favorites would probably be Nurse's Office, Orange Juice and Detention, but WOW are some of the lyrics bad on this record. "Kelly had a fat ass and trouble was cookin'/She was kissing him and I got jelly/For the throat x24439494" "If I pass this quiz, will you give me your babies?" The entire Wheels On The Bus song "It's really hard for me to say how I feel, I'm scared that I'll get thrown away like a banana peel" "I faked up a seizure and left outta there" Overall, disappointed and still not a stan, and I probably will never stan her again.

What if this song is about the apocalypse? I was listening, and I've seen people with a few theories such as the end of Lana's career / this being her last album, and some other theories, but... "The culture is lit, and if this is it, then I've had a ball / I guess I'm burned out after all" What if she means this in a literal sense? Maybe it's about global warming and how the earth is pretty much on fire at this point? And with other lyrics like "Life on mars ain't just a song / Hawaii just missed that fireball / L.A. is in flames, it's getting hot" it's pretty clear that she's talking about the world ending and/or the world going to complete garbage. And with the lyric "Oh, the livestream's almost on" maybe she's talking about people who are so engaged with their laptops and phones that don't even realize what's going on with the world. This might be like a really obvious concept and I just now caught onto it but I thought it was still interesting to share lol

I don't hate the song... but it will never be Gimme Gimme Gimme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9fEtupR62M Stream

Maybe I'm just tasteless but Cha Ching is legit one of my favorites from her LOL, miles better than Daddy AF imo
-
Okay.. this snippet I actually like. This, Lunchbox Friends and Pink Slip sound like the best ones so far
-
Faceshopping (Money Mix), Not Okay (Alone Remix) and Whole New World (Doss & Sophie Remix) are absolute bangers!!! I prefer the Whole New World remix over the original, tbh!
-
I honestly really like this EP and I feel kinda bad about it tbh LOL, just because I don't wanna support Titanic. But the songs are really good, miiiles better than Poppy.Computer and Am I A Girl's pop songs. I think this genre fits her much better than just cheesy pop stuff. Some of the stuff she's done in the past is good, though! I still like Moshi Moshi, In A Minute and Bleach Blonde Baby.

Kind of offtopic considering what's going on in the thread rn LOL, but isn't this song the snippet of an "unreleased song" that somebody posted a while back? https://youtu.be/T6HDrFxDVX8?t=52 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF2PKsNHeoo

Mostly the production, but some of the lyrics I'm not that big a fan of either. For an example on production, I really don't like the autotuned vocals on Meet The Parents or Clarity. I don't think the songs needed the autotune effect. Maybe Clarity would work with the autotune in some spots, but I dunno. I just don't like how it sounds on those songs.

A little bit late with this, but... unpopular opinion: I didn't really enjoy this album. I really liked the songs that are in my top 5 (got my number, personal hell, all i do is cry, sweet spot and icy) but the rest I just couldn't get into, fsr. Do Me and Broken are alright, but I prefer the other songs I mentioned much more. Pretty disappointed from this album. I'd give it a 5/10. This is just my opinion on this album and I still enjoy her music, except for this project! TOTL is still one of my favorite EPS ever! I just did not like this album!

That 'demo' just sounds like either a stem mix or they filtered some stuff out of the original instrumental. Doesn't sound real to me.
-
So, do you guys think the movie might air on MTV? That'd be cool if she got to air her movie on live TV, but I doubt it'll happen LOL. Just a hunch, though.
-
I still like this album, and the songs will probably grow on me, but I feel like the production on Step Two was just lackluster. The lyrics are beautiful on all of the tracks, of course, but the production was just so boring on a few of these songs. The skips for me would probably be Soulless Creatures, The River (the remix is great, though!) and In Bottles. The songs I LOVED from this album are A Different Kind Of Human (probably my favorite on the album), Apple Tree, The Seed and Dance On The Moon. Animal and Daydreamer are great, too. I greatly prefer Step One to Step Two, though.
-
I love 'A Different Kind Of Human'! The remix of The River is also great! I think I prefer the remix over the original, honestly LOL
-
Am I the only one that doesn't like ANY of the new singles? Got My Number is catchy, but it's still not my favorite. I much prefer her older songs. I really don't think she'll ever be able to top Turn Off The Light.
