I think this is different from Kim's case because Kim is in a signed contract. Still think it's kind of scummy, but maybe she can't help it. She could be in that contract for years. Slayyyter is an independent artist who CHOOSES who she works with. She has the option to drop him at any time. She's not in any contract (at least from what i know) also pls calm down before this thread gets locked

I always wanna say TFJ is my favorite, but... when I go back and look at the tracklist for EH, I remember all of the amazing songs I LOVED a while back (and still love!) and then when I compare them to the songs on TFJ, EH always comes out on top. Don't get me wrong, though! The Family Jewel's has some AMAAAZING songs!! The Outsider has to be one of my all-time favorite Marina songs. Ugh, so, so good. But then we look at Electra Heart, and whew... Homewrecker, Sex Yeah, Teen Idle, Radioactive, Buy The Stars, Power & Control.... I love all of her albums, though. They all have incredible songs (i guess music taste is subjective, though ) and I'm happy that I am a stan!

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I REALLY think the songs she makes would be more powerful if she didn't just whisper in all of them. Like, the music video is SO dark, the beat is SO creepy and her vocals are just... Not really there? I dunno. I think it'd be way cooler if her vocals sounded more dark and intense.

Just read this on the Genius lyrics page. Plath published a book called “The Bell Jar” one month prior to her suicide, she referred to be a look back to her experiences as though looking into a bell jar, which distorted into a work of fiction. In the book, she tells her story about a girl who struggled with depression but achieved her goals almost in an autobiographical way. In real life, Plath tried to take her own life writing that “she was succumbed to the whirling blackness” serving as parallel to the blackness Lana has been feeling.

Often depression is depicted as being black and it only thinks of itself. Lana is combatting it by having a fun time perhaps singing and touring. That’s the only thing keeping her away from her own depression. Nonetheless, she finds herself overthinking while trying to escape from that other self.
