Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread
HEARTCORE replied to ilovetati's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
recently I've been sorta getting into it but ugh the production is so backwards! -
tbh I don't feel like many of the tracks could do that well on the radio, they're wayyyyyy too dark + heavy imo. Gunshot probably had the most potential because it's the most pop-esque and its lyrics aren't as tragic as stuff like NRFTW or SA. i love Lykke so much and it pisses me off that next-to-no-one knows of her. that being said, i'd hate for her to compromise lyricism in order to gain success (NOEL & SIAB give me so many shivers).

i just want something that sounds new + fresh. uv worked so well because it was a complete departure from everything she'd done before (released + unreleased) and it made the album seen really cohesive and innovative for her. for me, tracks like Wait For Life didn't work so well because they felt like a rehash of old stuff and that made it feel tired + stale. i want new production, new themes & new lyrics. i don't want btd p2 or uv p2. i want a part 1 of something totally different. -
yeah but the tagging is so heavy + stupid that it's basically like we haven't got the song anyway

nobody's arguing. it's just that if you come up a theory, no matter how ridiculous/plausible, you're going to get skeptics. deal with that. freedom of speech works both ways, y'know. -
im gonna need a full HQ video of that cover, the IG post does not do it justice in the slightest

Yes! Totally agreed with her on it. One of the things I love about her is that she isn't afraid to speak up about things (the Woody Allen stuff, the fact she explicitly calls herself a feminist), whereas a lot of artists tend to shy away from talking about "problematic" issues. God bless Marina.

ive literally never heard a Grimes song (although ive heard of her) but yay i guess

this is honestly so dumb, if it was released 10 years ago it would be savvy + new but its so pointless when you can stream for free via spotify and download tracks (albeit illegally) via the internet in 1 second. also the whole #TidalForAll stuff is bullshit bc I don't know anyone who will have £20 spare to spend on streaming "exclusive" HQ music, so I think it's created complete exclusivity. plus, I can understand doing it for artists who are relatively small-ish (ie Marina) bc it gets them extra $$$ but really? Beyoncé? Jay-Z? Madonna? don't you guys already have fat paychecks with lots of 0000000? (off topic but where were all these black celebs at Tidal during Blackout month + #BlackLivesMatter hmmmmmmmmm? but that's another situation) its just utter BS to me

Lana Del Rey x Marina and the Diamonds joint album!
HEARTCORE replied to kingadam's topic in Lana Thoughts
This has been discussed to death already but anyway - no, I don't want one. I love both of them (M more so than Lana), but their lyricism and styles are way too different to work together. It's not even that they could be so different that it works - they're just way way too unlike each other. A collab would be horrendously bad imo. -
Why is this relevant

obviously you weren't lmao you wouldn't post about it gtf outta here

that front + back cover look GORGEOUS and the krug photography make it seem like a true successor to UV...the tracklisting is rather dire, however.
