So far every h4u single (including Sexy Party even though it won’t get an official release) has been so good. Idk if she’s actually ever gonna drop the album but I do think putting new songs on it instead of sticking with the original concept was the right choice tbh. The OG h4u would’ve been amazing but her production skills have improved so much so keeping it fresh and delivering something to its full potential makes sense.

As expected, the album’s excellent. Mercurial World’s one of my favorite albums released in recent years so I won’t say Imaginal Disk is better but it’s def an amazing follow-up. I also looove how they connected both albums by having The Beginning transition into She Looked Like Me

And when a fan said they love Blue Banisters she said the next album’s even better and when she made that video about her hard drive getting stolen she said she really believes in the music that’s about to come out. I don’t think she’s unhappy with Lasso itself (we don’t really have any way of knowing), but she def gives the impression that she’s unsure about how it’ll be received.

Her music never really did much for me but I really like the idea of her as a popstar and this album’s cute! I like Bed Chem and Juno.

Yeah idk if she actually switched the sound up but I feel like either way the backlash she got from critics for being “inauthentic” with BTD did some permanent damage and she’s probs expecting this album to get a similar reaction which is why she’s already kinda defending it

That interview where she said she was unsure about where Lasso was going now that country’s taking over the music industry, and her putting emphasis on how this album won’t be too different from her other music and many of her previous song have had “country production” in that vogue interview def makes me think that she’s worried about coming across as inauthentic and trend-chasing with this album. That’s why I feel like she might’ve switched the sound up and is going for more of a country theme (and pushing the whole southern gothic thing) instead of releasing a straight-up country album.

I wonder what songs of hers she considers to have “southern gothic production”. I feel like Breaking up Slowly’s production fits that description. I’m not the biggest fan of that song but its production is really good and I wouldn’t mind hearing more of that. But also she’s kinda very bad at describing the sound of her songs so for all we know in her eyes Diet Mountain Dew has a southern gothic production…

Very excited about that statement. It's giving me the impression that she did end up changing the direction of this album from country to more just country-themed like Tough

I guess that confirms the album's not coming out this year But at least we know 2 songs are coming
