Norman will conquer all the other albums when it comes to acclaim because it's her magnum opus. It's simple as that.
No one will buy into the conspiracy theories that Ultraviolence and Honeymoon are working overtime to come up with.
U constantly coming after BTD before NFR leaked only to find out Cinnamon Girl, much like Cherry, is a BTD reject, not to mention the random Serial Killer flashback.
Never happened on UV and HM. Not once.
-
aren't you the stan holding some stupid grudge against Interscope/Polydor though? Talking about excuses.
"Lana has been repressed by her label and some of the songs show that, but omg, this is her magnum opus."
It makes no sense.
-
I mean if she didn't care AT ALL she would be May Jailer
No, she wouldn't be, considering Lana was trashed by critics for even adopting the LDR persona in the first place. Thankfully, she stuck to her guns.
-
And you said "label puppet" 50 times now. That term is cringy and embarrassing for your soul.
Say this after u learn how to spell hypothetically instead of getting it wrong three times in a row now.
Ultraviolence got a nice reception. Just about what it deserves. But I love how y'all setting up excuses already.
Take that Schoolboy Q avatar down before u come for superior albums.

NFR will receive the acclaim and recognition that Ultraviolence stans can only dream of in their wildest dreams.
Critics like Richard Goldstein hated Sgt. Peppers, among other Beatles projects. They simply do not matter. Period.

She said that about the earlier version of West Coast, not the version SHE WAS ACTUALLY PUTTING OUT AND TRYING TO SELL. She said they changed it and added the synths and slowed the chorus and she said she liked it. Cause even if *HIPOTHECALLY* Interscope made her change the drums agains her will to the version we heard on the MV, I don't think she would go on radio and say I DONT LIKE IT. Cause that's not how an artist sells something.
Actually I love both versions, idc what happened lol
If Lana truly cared about sales she would not make (terrific) albums like Honeymoon.
-
girl not VALERIE talking bout "discrediting" lana when all she does is talk shit about her
I disapprove of Lana's hypocrisy. Not her artistic integrity/freedom, which is for some reason being questioned and she is now being portrayed by a label puppet by her own fans.
-
DUDE CAN YOU FUCKING READ? I'm gonna quote myself for you my love, hold on.
"Or MAYBE it was actually Interscope who wanted more upbeat drums for a single and they changed it but that's not something you'd say in an interview when you're trying to sell a song"
MAYBE. HIPOTHETICALLY. PERHAPS. Just a theory. I'm tired of this conversation cause your posts are boring lol shut up
But she has said that about radio mixes before, such as WC. She was not satisfied with it. There is no reason for her to suddenly remain tight lipped regarding label affairs now. You guys love to discredit her at any chance u get.
It was done and ready for release and then Universal postponed it and bullied her into recording Doin' Time and Fuck It I Love You.
There is no proof of that, so your comment is simply irrelevant until further notice.
If she hates Doin' Time so much she wouldn't sing it live. She has the choice not to. She barely performed HM and LFL live despite being brand new albums so don't say she was forced to perform Doin' Time either. UV also barely got live spins for Endless Summer either.
-
The standard version would like to have a word with you
ok, sis
The fact that they have to use a bonus track to discredit UV is just amusing, especially when a lot of songs on NFR follow the same boring formula as that UV reject. We stay using standard tracks from LFL and NFR. Ugh, the validity of our opinions.

Estabilished by Lana herself when? Today? On that 5 minute interview? Or when she was MIA for a whole year? lol
Lana herself said that she wanted surf drums in Fuck It I Love You. Thankfully, she established this loud and clear a few days ago before the radio premiere of the song. A great decision by Ms. Del Rey, and did not go unnoticed.
-
We're discussing and trying to figure out what happened
What happened has been established by Lana herself, it isn't her fault you choose to discredit her by portraying her as some mindless label puppet. Interscope supported the release of Honeymoon and thankfully Lana gets along very well with Jimmy, as stated herself in her Pitchfork interview from 2017, as well as countless other outlets throughout her career.
-
Oh I didn't know you watched the record production so closely!!!! Tell us all about it, can't wait to hear
I didn't know those who are so hellbent on portraying Lana as a label puppet were flies on the wall during production, either. Anything to discredit Lana's mind.
-
The only thing we know for fact is that Interscope were hesitant to fund Ultraviolence, until Paul Epworth came in and said he liked it, from that point I don't think she had a problem with the label? Also, she seemed to be pretty much doing whatever she feels like ever since Honeymoon, which like Ultraviolence, was not meant to be a so called "commercial" album.
Lana spoke about the freedom she has in her Pitchfork interview in 2017.
"I did the same thing with Honeymoon. Everyone around here heard it and was like, “It’s a cool record, but you know it’s not going to be on the radio, right?” And I was like, “Yeah. I told [record executive] Jimmy [iovine] when I signed, ‘If you want to sign me, this is all it’s ever going to be.’” I was just so committed to making music because I believe in what I do."
-
And let's not forget that she said last year that How To Disappear was the last song she recorded for the album!
All the way back in October 2018. U thinking she didn't touch one thing on the album between October 2018 and July 2019 is a cackle in itself.

I--
Yes Cinnamon Girl with its BTD reject instrumental and wannabe Is This Happiness & Sad Girl lyrics isn't the tea. Your Girl is superior.
-
"Your Girl" is a dark sexy tune. It doesn't fit the mood of this Playlist Sonically.
Cinnamon Girl isn't 70s tho. Your Girl is better.
-
Ughhhh I wanna hear Yosemite so bad!!! Does anyone have it? Wish someone "accidentally" sets Ha free
#JusticeForYosemite
Add Your Girl instead of Cinnamon Girl

Of course it's Interscope. Doin' Time's addition is also Interscope. Lana could swear all day it's her and I wouldn't believe her. Fuck them.
U think anything that isn't acoustic is Interscope's decision, conveniently ignoring the fact that Lana listens to shit like Rae Sremmurd.
If she hates Doin' Time so much she wouldn't sing it live. She barely performed HM and LFL live so don't say she was forced to perform Doin' Time either. UV barely got live spins for Endless Summer either.
-
I'm not trying to discredit her you dumb fuck, shut up lol I'm tired
It was Lana's idea, and she is not a label puppet. Don't portray her like one. She released a 10 minute single. Period.
-
Or maybe it was actually Interscope who wanted more upbeat drums for a single and they changed it but that's not something you'd say in an interview when you're trying to sell a song
But Lana said she was not satisfied with the direction of the WC radio edit, so no, theory debunked. It was Lana's idea, just as she stated herself. Why are people always trying to discredit her mind? Some fans.
-
And the decision to keep them away from the album is obviously the most correct decision of all of them
But thankfully, the version she chose to add drums to and showcase in a gorgeous new video is the most correct AND right decision of them all.
-
Lana and Interscope are heading in two very different directions. Time to say goodbyes!
But thankfully, whether they part ways or not, history stands to attest the fact that Lana said she chose to have those drums in FIILY. The correct decision, the right decision.
-
I was referring to music. I don't give a fuck about covers and videos.
They're cheapening her music with radio mixes and other edits and they have been doing so since forever.
She needs a label who will appreciate for who she is.
Videos are an integral part of Lana's art. Always have been, stemming all the way back to her DIY home ones. Get used to it.
Thankfully, Lana wanted the drums in the single version of FIILY. Ah, she made the right choice too. Bless.
During the premiere on BBC Radio 1, Lana explained the background of Fuck It I Love You:That one was the last track I did for the record and I wanted also something with some surf drums, so we did that last and it’s just little of a mood track and I knew I wanted to do a video where I was surfing in it. So it was more of a fun thing to put together.Wow. When will Schoolboy Q -
Getting disrespected like this at this stage of her career is pathetic.
The album was finished for a year and she wasn't allowed to release it.
And some fans here are celebrating and supporting Universal/Interscope bullying her and trying to cheapen her art.
She needs to find new label or go independent asap!
Cheapening her art when they've funded several big budget videos of hers & she's the one who confessed she sends her managers iPhone selfies for single/album covers

It's been deleted. The version Lana chose to add drums to is far superior, and I'm glad she chose to release it that way.
