  1. The thing about lyrical recurrence is that for a few songs span on several albums, it's fine. But when you already expect a couple songs on the album to be like "blue blue blue, pale moonlight, red party dress, Hollywood, throw a bunch of f and b words here and there" it's not much recurrence but rather redundancy and it can easily come across as lazy writing.

In interviews she’s wanting to be less Lana Del Rey but in some lyrics on NFR she’s as cliche Lana Del Rey as it gets. :rip:

  2. Mark Ronson is long and gone (no pun intented). None of his new material sounds like Back To Black, it's very much repetitive pop music. Which is surprising because he seems to be working with Kevin Parker (btw the second coming over Christ) even their recent collabs sound a tad bland.

Mark was only good because Amy was his director. He wanted a harp section on Love Is A Losing Game and she told him to fuck off because it sounded like a Mariah Carey song to her.

  3. “Touch me anywhere ‘cause I’m your baby

Grab my waist, don’t waste any part.”

Cute attempt at making stranger look better, though.

Yeah I know the lyric, it’s shit :rip:

How am I making it look better when both are total shit :rip:

The point was that no one should be dragging one when the other is just as trash. Cute attempt at telling people to ignore me but then quoting me anyways :rip:

  4. I honestly always feel bad for ranking Born To Die below her other albums, because in 2012 it was THAT album, and I've listened an awful lot of times, it is iconic. the other two are just far superior.

HM & UV are lightyears ahead of BTD, but BTD is far more interesting than Norman’s Demos. Cinnamon Girl is a BTD reject much like Cherry was & the serial killer throwback in HIAB is just embarrassing lmaooo. All the dance and party lines on Norman’s Demos damn ma she was more lyrically creative when she was 25-26 :rip:

  5. The Greatest is funny because throughout her career she has made it a point that she thinks so highly of the Beach Boys despite Mike Love being a Trump supporter but then decides to highlight only Kanye's politics in the same song. If she's going to go out of her way to prioritize other people's politics so much perhaps she should start taking a hard look at all her long term idols rather than selectively romanticizing them over others

  6. Heroin is, by large, a cringefest. She sounds like a dying bird cawing on that bridge. "I'll retire Cola because I mention Harvey Weinstein's first name but here's an edgelord song namedropping the Manson family murders"

Anyway this is the NFR thread. I'm interested to hear the album in good quality in a few days. Hoping that'll help some songs stand out more.

I'm still coming back to the video for Fuck It I Love You, love those surfing scenes. Beautiful, natural and emotional. One of her best videos. Great visuals without her trying to prove anything.
