  1. I discovered Lana through an article posted on MissRepresentation's Facebook page in Jan. 2012. (Basically it was asking indie fans to show some respect when discussing this new indie singer.) I found Video Games on YouTube and thought the song was kinda boring, but the video was interesting. I found her SNL performance and thought yeah, a little awkward, but endearing if anything. Then I found the first Blue Jeans video, and the chorus blew me away! I bought BTD in February and loved it. I kept finding more and more of her songs on YouTube... and the rest is history :D

Axl Rose Husband was recorded when she was 16.

(If I'm good at maths that is 2001 or even 2000 considering it was 11 months ago she commented that?)

Maybe she was conflating ARH with White Pontiac Heaven, and it was WPH that she recorded c. 2001?

...perhaps a bit of a spaz regarding dates and stuff (this is the least likely option, but i have a couple of friends who basically use me as their biographer, because they can't remember exact years for the life of them, if not for me they'd just say 5 or 10 years ago or something that was 3 years ago or 7 years ago  )

(When I'm not being figurative) I'm really anal about things like accuracy, but I misspeak sometimes. And I quote...

Lawyer (technically) since I was 22.

What a thing to get wrong!!! It's glaringly obvious, because usually the youngest law students start at 22. But it's not something that affects me much in my present life, so I don't think about the specifics very often anymore.

I firmly believe it's "Money Hunny," perhaps with "Fordham Road" a follow-up.

Money Hunny is the only one I have dated as 2005. Though this is third- and fourth-hand info...

Axl Rose Husband and Elvis are way advanced compared to Sirens, so I don't think it's likely that they were recorded before that album.

I tend to agree. But I'm not a musician.

You crazy, boy. Other way around, by a long shot. Sirens is the peak of her guitar playing, in terms of technical abilities.

I will defer to your expertise. But I would expect more takes in a studio project, more input from producers, more polishing. (This goes for the vocals as well.) And do we know for a fact that she played the guitar on every song?

She's also claimed that "Pawn Shop Blues" was the first song she ever wrote

I think this had something to do with that young songwriters contest she almost won?

Bottom line, I agree with Monicker that we shouldn't assume year written = year recorded = year released/posted.

And I agree with EE that we need more receipts

  3. Do you do album covers? Or, if you're bored, would you like to try one? :D

I've tried and tried to come up with one for "Put the Radio On," but I haven't been happy with anything I've come up with so far. I would love one with this photo:

...in 500x500, preferably retaining the reds and pinks. If you're up for it. If not, no worries :)

  4. Not working for me :defeated:

Did you click Apply? (I feel awkward asking this question of someone younger than me. Generally when I'm talking to someone older than me, though, this type of question is generally a good one. Never mind, of course you clicked Apply. Forget I asked.)

Have you upgraded to the "new" Photobucket? It makes editing smoother/quicker, and hasn't freezed up on me yet.

Sometimes it takes a day for your changes to show up in your links, so it might be "working" even if you can't tell yet. (Unless it's not "working" because it's not working for you to be bothered. Sitar, you're not using euphemistic language to say you can't be bothered, are you? I'm a problem-solver, dammit, and words like "not working" are like catnip to me. But wait, this isn't about me...)

    Be blessed.

  5. WOW!! That's so cool. I live in North Carolina and we only have 1 H&M store and it's 4 hours away from me so I doubt I'll ever see one ;'((!!

you better make a visit to H&Mecca while her holy presence lingers there

Seriously, don't make a special trip -- our local H&M in VA didn't even have any LDR photos up! :toofloppy:

  7. I'm confused about the paradise vinyl slipcase, can someone explain?

I have no idea where any vinyl shops are, I assume there are some somewhere, thanks!

Sometimes a record store will have used/new CDs in front, and vinyls in the back. Try calling around to music stores in the phone book that aren't part of a big chain. (Or someone who works at a big chain might be able to recommend a good local shop.)

  8. She learns nothing from struggles and mistakes? :/

IKR!?! IMO we need to learn from everything.

But maybe she's exaggerating to make a point. A lot of people react to other people's hardships by emphasizing it's good for them/character-building/God's will. This can be so hurtful, to people who are looking for support, especially when the speaker stubbornly sticks to this narrative. (I mean, just because God can make something good come out of something bad, that doesn't mean He wanted it to happen!) Yes, we can welcome learning opportunities, but that doesn't mean we have to welcome bad stuff! I would much rather learn from happiness and constructive things, too. (Though it doesn't always work out that way.) It sounds simple, but I know a lot of people (who consider themselves role models to others) who lose sight of the fact that we should be working to make the world a better place, rather than folding our hands and watching it all burn.

So maybe she's reacting to something like that?
