It's an INCREDIBLE album! It's very raw, personal, and dark, I can't believe she went from singing something as bubbly as Step Back in Time to something as self-loathing as Did It Again. A true masterpiece.

Wow, that's crazy! As much as I love her typical pop/dance songs, I've been listening to Impossible Princess a lot recently and I think it might actually be her best album, it just seems much deeper and more authentic than her other records. It's such a shame its brilliance wasn't recognized back then. I'm so in love with Too Far, Cowboy Style, Breathe, Drunk, Limbo (I was so shocked when I listened to it for the first time, I wasn't expecting a rock song), Dreams () and Love Takes Over Me. I actually just ordered the CD because I want that 3D cover LMAO.

Yes it is. She received a LOT of backlash for the album, which really stung her. She was seen as being a joke, a fake, someone desperately trying to seem credible when she was "just a singing budgie". The album was also a massive flop outside of Australia, which hurt her even more. It meant that she found it hard to release any solo/co-written songs after that. It's only within the last couple of years that she's made peace with the album and been able to be more confident in her songwriting abilities. Each album since Kylie Minogue 94 has had an album's worth of material penned by Kylie, but the large majority of it hasn't been released.
If you have any other questions, I am a Kylie encyclopaedia hehe

You're right, which is really unfortunate. Never heard much praise for Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood or The Other Woman either now that I think about it.
I'd honestly pay for an album of Lana doing studio covers of old songs like Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again. I love the originals, but she does makes them accessible to listeners who can't get into the older sounds.

This has probably been mentioned somewhere earlier in the 250+ pages of this thread but
Blue Velvet is one of my favorite songs from BTD/Paradise and I feel like its criminally underrated. Excellent vocals, excellent orchestra instrumental, excellent everything. Maybe it was just the fans I knew before, but I don't remember anybody talking about it.
Also I love David Lynch and the name itself/music video is reference to his movie so maybe I'm biased

I would like to see Emile Haynie work with Lana again, those signature guitar plucks were everything.

Okay so as some of you know, I'm studying to be a lawyer and this is what I know:
Chord progressions are not protected under the law because they are generally universal products and easy to copy -- it's like if Hershey or Toblerone said that they were the only manufacturers allowed to make chocolate. Radiohead can't sue based on chord progressions. Musical theorists have a saying that "everything is a remix." It's impossible to make a song that has no echo of a past song. The legal standard for copyright infringement is "substantial similarity" which is a relatively hard test to prove. Radiohead's attorneys need to prove that the songs are substantially similar in order to win, if they are going for copyright infringement, which is a lot harder than just proving that the songs are "similar." "Substantial" is the key word. Wasn't Radiohead sued by The Hollies for this song? And they lost? If so, this gives them very unsteady legal ground to stand on. I'll update as I think of more.
Update: also, intent doesn't matter much in the context of copyright infringement; whether Lana/Nowels etc. intended (meant) to copy Creep is irrelevant. If the court finds that she did, in fact, copy the song then it won't matter if it was a mistake or not.

Thanks Radiohead for ruining the potential of a great song to close shows with. Greedy assholes.

BEST AMERICAN RECORD single cover. Inspired by her look at the 2017 San Francisco show.

I've started to get into editing recently and I just wanted to share!
My first edit is what I hope Lana's aesthetic for LDR6 is like. Very surf-rock, tropical inspired. Hope you like it!
