How Long Have You Been a Fan and How Long Do You Think You Will Be?
Summersault replied to Sadcore's topic in Lana Thoughts
I jumped on the Video Games wagon in November 2011. Heard it on the radio and was super intrigued, but when I saw the video I really disliked it and her whole persona. It took me a few weeks to get used to her, but in the end songs like OTTR, You Can Be the Boss, Mermaid Motel and Kill Kill won me over. They proved to me that she was weirder than your average dolled up starlet and musically she was on a another level. I don't think I'll ever get truly tired of her music as it's so diverse and I keep finding new layers to focus on, but I definitely isn't as interested in her as a person and the lifestyle she represents anymore, which I think is a good thing. Now I'm just patiently waiting for Ultraviolence to blow my mind ~sonically~ EDIT: Double text -
For some reason it reminds me of Never Let Me Go. Two Lana songs with piano intros are Damn You and Breaking My Heart, maybe it's one of them?

Not at all:) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xnbu28_lana-del-rey-off-to-the-races_music#.UdMpffnxpSE - Overall rating: 10/10 First impression: Something about Lana's persona just rubbed me the wrong way when I first discovered her, so I actually wanted to dislike it, but of course I couldn't. The beat is one of the finest things on BTD and Lana's sing flow and lyrics are too cool to dislike. Impression now: Feel the same way about it. Songs I play along with it: Sometimes You Can Be The Boss, TIWMUG and Mermaid Motel. What I like about it: Errthing What I dislike about it: Maybe that I overplayed it to some degree, but laying if off a minute helps. Memories I associate with this song: Even before I realized that she was quoting Lolita, I somehow connected it to the 97' Lolita movie. Same feeling they invoke I guess. Colors/images that come to mind: The colour scheme from her homemade video, Lolita, sunshine (?) Favorite lyrics: "He grabs me, he has me by my heart// He doesn't mind I have a Las Vegas past/ He doesn't mind I have a L.A. crass way about me, he loves me with every beat of his cocaine heart/

Maybe this is old news, but she appears to be saying "L.A. L.A." at the beginning, right before the first verse. I never noticed before now, but it really makes a lot of sense given the contents of the lyrics and how it was presented in Tropico. It's more obvious in the Mokadem remix that starts out more acapallaish.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZSmggTMkJM This G&M remix is so haunting and understated. The darkness of the original is enhanced in a more subdued way and when the high pitched chorus kicks in at 1:39...Yes Lawd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmEyyFklcc8 This could have been such a great remix. I actually prefer that lazy snap beat in the verses over the BTD version, and the "How do you like me now" part at 2:29 is really cool and sassy at the same time. I'm just gonna pretend that the chorus never happened http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spIFWtWfc48 Local rockstar ~(the Lana Boards crew)~ @butterflies aka Kristijan Majic has created a beautiful track out of C U L8R. The instrumental is Born to Die worthy!

Questions for Lana - what would you ask?
Summersault replied to Mommy's Mercedes's topic in Lana Thoughts
- What it felt like singing in the places she's been singing about all these years, like Charteau Marmont, Paris, L.A. Was it a dream come true or was it different in real life? - In the same vein, how she felt about meeting Axl Rose and if Bel Air really is a tribute to him - Her thoughts on the law of attraction, life after death and extraterrestrial life. - Who in the music business she would like to collaborate with (And by some manipulative tactics get her to say Damon Albarn) - Ask her about some of my favourite songs, like the writing process and if she even likes them now. - ULTRAVIOLENCE -
Going to a Lana concert Hearing Y&B in the trailer for the Great Gatsby for the first time. That version slayed every other that came after. Black Beauty leaking Joining Lana Boards Watching Tropico while a storm was raging outside

I agree that this got a little out of a tangent and I have edited my comment. I genuinely wanted to know something about Lana and I got an answer, but it's tricky when getting the answer involves people who may or may not know how much of their social media is public. Especially when it's something that has already been posted on the board.

Yeah, that was my first thought too. I think it fits agewise. http://www.mtv.com/videos/interview/lana-del-rey/727775/lana-del-rey-is-still-babysitting.jhtml (I'll never get over her weirdness in this interview )

Apparently she dated Jon Stewart in the 90's and I had this whole story line made up about her being an ex-coke addict model who got in touch with Lana through Fords and they bonded over mutual hardships and remain friends to this day Or maybe they just know each other from Lake Placid EDIT: Ok, so it's pretty certain that jane has nothing to do with Lanas model career. Case closed.

I'm not even a Lorde fan, but people dissing her looks is getting really tiresome. It's off-topic and come on, show some Christmas spirit by NOT trashtalking a 17-years old girl you don't know and who never even claimed to be pretty herself. Now back to stalking a 28-years old girl we don't know Lana is friends with a woman called Jane Powers, and I don't have FB receipts but they appear to be quite close. I think she's the one Lana mentions in this interview as one of her closest friends: http://lanadelreyonline.com/lana-del-rey-interviewed-by-elle-uk/ Jane Powers used to be a Fords model, and I would love to know more about Lana's model career. Do any of you know if Jane "scouted" her or something? (Maybe this belong in minor questions.) EDIT: She didn't.

I had no idea you could just email UMG like that but good call. His posts just seemed oddly specific, enough to intrigue mr and not discard him as a troll right away, but this certainly doesn't help his credibility. Sigh, I guess we're back to scratch speculating what UV's gonna sound like. -

True. But still it leaves a lot of questions in regards of Lanas songwriting. She obviously writes lyrics but I have to admit I always assumed that she did it by herself. It would be very interesting to know how much he wrote of Backfire i.e. Did he sprinkle it up with a few one liners or did she simply record a prewritten song? -

As much as I love Black Beauty and AFFA i still see them as the aftermath of Paradise, so it would be more fitting with a new sound. There's litteratly no genre she can't do. I would actually love to hear a more 60's organ rock inspired sound. Something really crazy and psychedelic. -
I thought it was a wallet, as in getting rid of her old identification and starting over.
-
Just a quick conspiracy.. In one of the trailer park scenes she places a bag of frozen veggies on her head. Could it mean that her guy hit her? I mean a lot of the scenes from Tropico are similar to the lyrics of Hundred Dollar Bill with Jimmys ultra violent swings, ya dig?
-
I loved the trailerpark scenes especially because I didn't know they were coming. They weren't featured in any trailers afaik and we didn't get any on-shoot photos. They were so sweet, like when they were lying under the Christmas lights.

Agree! ..but fify. Is he even legal?
