Lana is friends with a woman called Jane Powers, and I don't have FB receipts but they appear to be quite close. I think she's the one Lana mentions in this interview as one of her closest friends:

Jane Powers used to be a Fords model, and I would love to know more about Lana's model career. Do any of you know if Jane "scouted" her or something?

Apparently she dated Jon Stewart in the 90's and I had this whole story line made up about her being an ex-coke addict model who got in touch with Lana through Fords and they bonded over mutual hardships and remain friends to this day  
 
Or maybe they just know each other from Lake Placid

Oh, don't get me wrong. I am not saying that she should just upload her new album on iTunes without previous promo since her biggest market is Europe and iTunes is not big in Mainland Europe. So it would definately hurt her sales. And of course, Lana is nowhere near Beyonce in terms of popularity. All I am saying is that with Beyonce we have seen that there are obviously different strategies to "promote" an album. Maybe the 3 or 4 months in advance announcements are a thing of the past. The label reveals a release date and you have to wait, wait AAAAND wait for the music. Most people don't want to wait anymore. They want it quick and they want it fast and when the album drops, they have already moved on. 

My boarding school theory:

1) She was sent away to a boarding a school (or exclusive private school) for some reason. Whether it be for sizzling academics or because she was in the pits of alcoholism, we will never know.

2) In order to help "shape" Lana Del Rey, she released "alcoholism" as the reason for her going to boarding school.

3) It was probably a known fact in her area that she went away for school, but it was never public knowledge as to what the true reason was.

4) AND THE BEST PART. The reason people from her town aren't flocking to the internet to expose her "alcoholism" as a lie, is because they don't know. Seeing as they never knew the true reason behind her leaving, or they were lied to about why she left, they will accept "alcoholism" as the reason in the same why the people of Lana boards will......skeptical, but "ok, could be."

Eek at the article. This is an interesting example of non-dialogic communication in journalism. (She even misuses the term "dialogue" when "monologue" would be more appropriate. )
 
Sorry if I'm heading off-topic, but this sort of communication strategy really bothers me:
 
 
I.e., when confronted with an inconvenient fact which could undermine your argument, incorporate it into your argument using a disingenuous transitional word or phrase.    I actually despise this strategy with a passion, whether it's employed by a journalist, an attorney, a teacher or a pastor. (Yes, our classes in our various disciplines taught us how to B.S. our way into churning out written/rhetorical product. That doesn't mean we SHOULD.)   
 
It's too bad, because this writer does have an interesting perspective coming from the same school, and possibly the same or similar classes, as Lizzy Grant. But she should exercise more restraint, and let us the readers draw our own (potential) connections between dots, rather than resort to projecting experiences onto someone she obviously didn't and doesn't know. I guess it just goes to show that negative bias =/= objectivity.
