  1. I haven't played it but I don't really understand why people are so addicted... My room mate in college got super addicted to it toward the end of the year but isn't it just Bejewled? What's so cool or amazing about it that makes it different from every other bejewled-type game I've played?
  2. Does anyone have old videos of her performing live? Someone mentioned her performing Valentine, I've never seen her perform it live though... I've seen pictures that look to be from older shows (where she's dressed super ridiculous like a clown, one where she had a baby head bra or something like that lol) but I've never seen a video or heard any audio from them..
  3. YES, another fan of this masterpiece "I took all of the broken heart antibiotics they made me so psychotic"
  4. Oddly enough, I have the same problem with Set Me Free that you (and some others) have with You're the One. I feel this build up to something that is just never fully realized (except when she does it live). In the studio version the chorus is so polished that it just feels bland, and it's the same exact chorus 3 times. It never gets exciting (I like how when she did it live sometimes in the last chorus she would add extra "ohhh"s and such) Set Me Free is just so much more tame, repetitive, and boring than I hoped it would be from the live version (and the demo, although I didn't hear it until after the studio version) Set Me Free is one of those songs that is really cool live though. I guess in a way, Set Me Free and You're the One are VERY similar... They are both repetitive and structured very methodically (verse, chorus, same verse pattern, same chorus. The difference is Set Me Free has that bridge, and You're the One has sort of a bridge at the end instead). I just like You're the One and find it exciting for some reason, while Set Me free just doesn't do it for me. It doesn't have the same edge in my opinion. I find it too polished and robotic in the chorus.
  5. yeah after i typed all that up I figured you meant musically in the production but I had already made my point lol... I mean, I guess it's pretty formulaic, verse chorus similar verse, another chorus, end bit... I just like it anyway I guess. It doesn't sound repetitive to me because it's so energetic and I don't get sick of that bursting chorus no matter how many times it repeats itself.
  6. I didn't know until recently either! It's a very good cover, it definitely just sounds like Sky's own song. I would've never guessed.
  7. ok I see the points about how at least Stay Away's verses add to the song whereas You're the One's verses are all metaphorical and abstract and don't have much to do literally with the chorus like in Stay Away... But how can you say Stay Away isn't repetitive? "Stay away, stay away, stay away, stay away, stay away. Stay away, stay away, stay away, stay away, stay away" I mean I love Stay Away, but it is repetitive at times... Still my favorite/second favorite, just something I noticed that if I listen to it too much now it's not as exciting. Idk, I sound wishy washy because now I'm kind of taking it back... It is an amazing song and it's not repetitive to an annoying degree, the repetiveness works for sure, but how can you say it's not at all repetitive with how many times she says "stay away"? I think it's less repetitive lyrically than you're the one... Sure she says "you're the one" a lot, but she says "who can make me stay" "stealing stars" etc... She never just goes "youre the one, youre the one, youre the one" for a whole chorus. I kind of noticed a trend though... If you think about it, most of Charli's songs are very repetitive, based around the title... HOW CAN I FIXED WHAT I FUCKED UP HOW CAN I HOW CAN I HOW CAN I FIX STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY BLACK ROSES BLACK ROSES BLACK ROSES BLACK ROSES TAKE MY HAND JUST TAKE MY HAND TAKE MY HAND WONT YOU PLEASE JUST TAKE MY HAND lol sorry I had to... It's only because she's my second favorite artist and I think she's perfect that I jokingly make fun of her. She's flawless and I love everything she does... Don't take my rants too seriously, honestly every song on True Romance is great in one way or another and Stay Away is one of my favorite songs EVER. I'm just being hypercritical. For every one thing I could say is a con, there's 100 pros.
  8. I mean Stay Away is definitely next if not tied with You're the One. It was my original favorite. I honestly wasn't super into You're the One at first... Some time way later it grew on me and I realized it's just an amazing track and I wish there were more songs that reminded me of the feeling I get from the way it sounds. (same can be said about Stay Away, although only recently Stay Away has gotten a bit stale for me. Still an amazing song, but it's worn down a bit from listening to it hundreds of times, and now I notice how repetitive it is. Same with Black Roses, only to an even greater degree... Black Roses would be SOOOO good if she said "Black Roses" a few less times and added another verse...) edit: to the "You're the One" haters
  9. of EVERY song on the album, You're the One is your least favorite? Below So Far Away? Below How Can I? Below Cloud Aura? Below What I Like?
  10. that reminds me it's the first song my best friend liked by Charli XCX he also likes You and Stay Away now. He doesn't really like any of the others though. (except I Love It of course >__> )
  11. Off-topic (well not really because it's about Charli XCX... But unrelated to recent discussion) What are your opinions on You're the One? I think it's my favorite Charli XCX song (and video). I don't hear people really say anything about it when they talk about the album though. I almost feel like most people look at it as not the best but not the worst. I'm personally super into everything about it and I LOOOOVE the music video. It's so aesthetically pleasing to me. Like if I were a song I'd be "You're the One". I NEVER get sick of it. I love blasting it loud in my car with the windows down and singing it. I also love doing Charli's weird dance moves like in the music video. I love the way it's dark and edgy during the verses and then lightens up and is beautiful and majestic during the chorus. (same concept is mirrored visually in the music video) Everything about the song is just perfect. If I were a song I think I'd be You're the One.
  12. I do, but I'm glad she moved away from that sound. It's a little generic. I really like her dark-synthpop sound.
  13. thanks! I didn't look very hard, but I just remember googling her and basically only finding that song and stuff about Charli. I wonder why she apparently completely stopped making music :/
  14. Yea Charli's part is small but I still think its a really good song... I would be a fan of Daisy if she did anything else.
  15. Thank you! I was confused about it because I assumed "boyfriend" due to the "I remember when we used to hold hands" part, but so many things in the song made it sound more like she's talking about a female friend (polka dots, steal your cardigans..like what guy borrows other guys cardigans... And "we're both the same, both as catty as each other). I mean it totally makes sense it's about a friend, and friends can hold hands lol, I guess I just projected my own meaning onto it because I was angsty about the things my ex did and said to me. Also someone asked who Dasiy Geggus is, I think she's just an old friend of Charli's. I've only found one song by her (the one she did with Charli called "Another Romantic Situation") but I LOVE that song so I wish there were more like it.
  16. In "I'll teach you a lesson" I know she says "you're seemin' so much better" but all I can hear is "semen"... I'll have the song on completely not paying attention and then that part will come on and I'll be like "did she just say semen?"
  17. Lol it's funny you say these things because I feel like I was on the verge of coming to those realizations but just never thought about it I guess... Subconsciously I guess I knew they were about different guys... Like, in How Can I she clearly fucked up, but then how could the same guy she fucked it up with be the one she was screwed over by in Cloud Aura and You... I knew What I Like is about Ryan... So Far Away also gave me that vibe. I imagine it being about an online boyfriend she met on AIM or myspace or something.
  18. omg thanks! That's really interesting to know! I never saw where she said that. I thought they were all about the same guy. (Except Set Me Free I guess since she wrote it so young and I figured she had a boyfriend since then, when she was about 18, that most of the others like Stay Away and Nuclear Seasons were about)

    Lorde

I wasn't a big fan of Royals, I thought it was just okay, but I really like Tennis Courts!!!
  20. I don't like to seem stalker-ish and pry toooo much into artist's personal lives but does anyone know how long she's been dating him? I'm curious about her boyfriend before him... Clearly someone broke her heart, but I'm wondering how long ago because it seems like she's been dating Ryan for a while now.. I thought she was still single when she "broke down" and wrote the Super Ultra mix-tape but apparently she was dating Ryan already at that point too... Where does all the angst about relationships come from in her music... She seems so in love now. I mean clearly she had a boyfriend as early as 14 because NF&GS is pretty clearly about an ex, and she also said she wrote Set Me Free at 14, but how serious can a relationship be when you're that young... I wonder if she's had a boyfriend since then that she wrote some of the other songs about or if they are all about some guy she "dated" when she was 13/14 lol...
  21. I mean yeah she can if she wants to, and I also doubt that's what's going on in this picture, I just thought it was really funny. (but she's clearly not sucking his dick.... She's riding it. ) Also the comments made it even better lol.
  22. I LOVE them!!! I first heard them on the US skins (RIP... i really wanted a second season. I personally liked it, they always had great music on it. They had like 3 or 4 phantogram songs throughout the 10 episodes that aired) And I saw them live about a year and a half ago in Boston! They were awesome <3
  23. This is totally Charli XCX but for some reason she isn't credited... Have people here heard this? (Benga - Smile) also WHAT is this mess on Charli's instagram!?
  24. Here's hoping we have another album early next year and a new mixtape by the end of this year.
  25. YESSS!!! Sure this has already been posted here, but the album is now called "I Will" which, while not as good of a title as "I'm Not Alright" in my opinion, dispells rumors that "I Will" (my favorite of the songs she played live) might not be on the album!!! http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/blogs/543083/sky-ferreira-this-summer-s-girl.html
