IT'S COMING!!!!!! (But I've listened to it so much already that I want a different lead single now..)
-
I'm sure they've been auctioned off before... I bet the people who have them are waiting to see how big Charli blows up before they try to sell them. Charli technically just got a #1 hit single, and more exposure could make 14 go for more $$$.
-
I also didn't know that was possible until I saw it on my iphone like a month ago and sent her the picture I drew of her but she never responded and I kind of figured maybe it doesn't actually work or she doesn't see them, but then today in the Charli tag I saw she responded to someone on facebook so I tried messaging her again, this time asking if she will do anything with Icona Pop since they will be in Boston at the same time... I can't believe she never responded to my drawing though :/ I could understand if she were really big but I don't feel like she gets a ton of fan art at her level, I figured if I sent it on facebook and most people don't even know you can do that, she'd see it.

If there are 3 more parts and we are supposed to get the final part on August 8th wtf is she going to do, release them all at the same time? THat makes no sense. I Love Marina and I'm not usually one of those annoying fans who complains about things like this, but it's actually frustrating... If there are 2 more full length videos, why would she release them at the same time? It just reduces the hype... And I thought she was going to make Lies a single since she performed it on Conan with the new verse...

I like her but I don't LOVE her. I was really into Oblivion and Genesis, and a few songs on Visions, Vowels = Space and Time, Circumbient or w/e, and something else. I forget the track names of her songs lol. I like her but something about her voice bothers me, like I hate that it's SOOO calming and airy, it's like I can't really sing along or get super into it. Even her more electronic and pulsating songs are a little too lo-fi for me. I wish there was a BIT more pop structure to it. But maybe I'm saying she should dumb her music down, which I don't want her to do. So idk. There's just something about Visions that I feel like if it were SLIGHTLY more solid and less like a relaxing cloud, I'd like it more. If that analogy makes any sense to you...

Am I really the only one here who's seen her live?

I love a bunch of the ones you posted, many of them are favorites of mine as well. It's so hard to pick. I really like most of the lyrics in I'll Never Know. The "Build a Rocket and I'll fly to space just so that I can touch your picture perfect face" as someone said above me is great. And the chorus I guess you would call that part: "what if I see you alone on the pavement, will my heart freeze will the sun melty down my bones? etc" Actually I'll Never Know is probably one of her best, Imma listen to it now... It should've been on True Romance... I sort of forgot about it tbh, I haven't listened to it in a while. Also I just realized that "Too Cool" and I'll Never Know sound kind of similar. I really like both. I think the reason I haven't listened to I'll Never Know for a while is because it holds a special place in my heart about a feeling I no longer feel at all... I really liked a guy and I was moving off to school so we were going to stop dating, but then we dated after I moved anyway and did long distance and he even flew to see me once, but then I found out he cheated on me a lot so now I don't want to think about how I felt at that time, because it's not "I'll Never Know" anymore, since now I do know ... Such a pretty song though... Maybe I'll reappropriate it.

The bridge of How Can I!!!!!! "We're on the graveyard diggin where the love is void". It's so amazing, it makes me wish I liked the rest of the song more... I love the part in "I Like You" where she says "Flower pickin in the winter just to see what we can find". It's so cute and it gives me a pretty and kind of nostalgic image in my head. I really like the bridge of interior because it reminds me a bit of the bridge in How Can I. Not sure if I like the lyrics as much as I like the delivery. "Nothing says tomorrow is a guarantee. There's no way of knowing that you'll be with me" - from Lock You Up. I know it's simple but it's really profound and idk I just really like that short part. It can hold a lot of meaning. "I cant quite hear what you're saying, because my body started shaking. Beaches and oceans earth is quaking, that's my heart that you were breaking" - from Grins. its just so powerful and sounds so heartbroken, and I love the way she delivers it live when she's going crazy.

Idk who William Orbit is but omg I saw she's working with Starsmith. And yessss the vinyl will be the perfect thing to have her sign when I see her in September.
-
YESS!!! If I had to pick just one it would be this one. It's so beautiful and dark and reminds me of the you're the one music video backdrop with the clouds which I love and also kind of makes me think of one of those swan boat love tunnels. And she's just so gorgeous and I love her hair and her signature goth look with the eyeliner and the pale lips! This is the picture I use for ALL of her unreleased songs.

Oh yeah I kind of figured the whole LA Marina show drama was kind of an exaggeration caused by Marina now having a lot of really young (and small) fans some of which probably had never been to a General Admission concert before. I'm in the pit for most concerts so I expect pushing and shoving but I'm always fine. A little girl next to me at the 3rd Marina show I saw fell to the floor and I had to help her get up haha.
-
OMG she's playing at that big LA venue Marina played at with all the tumblr controversy about pushing!? isn't that the biggest American venue Marina's ever played at!? I can't believe Sky would play somewhere so big! The venue I saw her in was super small and not even sold out! (and it was in Boston which is a big city). Your friend will be fine I'm sure. There was no pushing, there was actually tons of room and I was right at the front. People were pretty comfortable just standing where they were.

So I'm seeing Charli in Boston in September, and then Icona Pop literally the next day, and it just hit me how awesome it would be if Charli went to the Icona Pop show and did I Love it with them!!! Especially because for some reason there is a 4 day break between Charli's Boston show and her next one... So it's not like she would have to leave right away... I wonder what she has planned for those 4 days...

Did Adele Copy Lana's 'Paradise' Wrist Tattoo?
iseeyouupsidedown replied to Trash Magic's topic in Latest News
I really just don't get why she did it... That's a permanent tattoo and she got it just because Lana Del Rey has it? Is there meaning to it for Adele? I don't get it... This is just baffling to me. Not insulting, rude or thoughtless, just... weird. -
She's great and meeting her was like my favorite concert experience because it was so intimate! Meeting and getting a picture with Marina was cool but there were a bunch of pushing fans. Meeting Sky was like meeting a person at a party and it was just really cool to meet an artist I admire so much.
-
I know them because of the Pretty Little Liars theme song lol, I'll try listening to their other stuff though, I didn't know it was supposedly so good and emotional. I can't take "Secret" seriously as it's own song though because to me it's just the PLL song.

The Postal Service - Nothing Better Marina and the Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot There are more but those are the two I can think of that I have literally called my favorite songs of all time and that don't ever get old and have special places in my heart. edit: Metric - Too Little Too Late Yeah yeah yeahs - Maps Charli XCX- You're the One/Stay Away. But I just love Charli so much right now and all her music that I don't really want to say them yet as "favorite songs of all time".
-
Welcome! It's fine if you're not that into Lana. I like her but I'm here for Charli, Sky, Marina, and the other random artists who have threads in the entertainment section. I'm not a HUGE Lana fan anymore, even though I have all of her unreleased songs and like quite a few of them. Anyway, my new favorite Charli picture is the Carrie one that @@comeintomybedroom posted. But my all time favorite is probably this one: And I really like the one on the cover of Under The Radar: Also really like this one, and it's a classic:

Wait did you have Stay Away on there all along or just edit it? I'm not sure now lol. I thought you excluded Stay Away. But you put it's one of her best so I probably just didn't see it.
-
^But how can you take off Stay Away!!!!!? And btw Stay Away wasn't from 14... She recorded it way after. Her oldest song that's on True Romance is Set Me Free/Feel My Pain which she said she wrote when she was 14. Stay Away was when she was like 17.

I think it's interesting how polarizing Take My Hand is... Some people are saying it's her best song and is just so perfect and amazing but... I like it, but I don't think the production is that great.. It's kind of clunky... Like I just don't think it flows well. the du-bum-bam.....du-du-bum-bum... I have NO IDEA how to describe it but y'all clearly know... The beat is just kind of quirky but not in a good way because I don't think it flows quite right. I feel like the song could be better. ANYWAY: Ideal True Romance Tracklist 1. Intro (the one in NS but as a separate track) 2. Nuclear Seasons 3. You (Ha Ha Ha) 4. Take My Hand 5. Outro to set up for Stay Away 6. Stay Away 7. Set Me Free (with more umph and vocal layering... More like the demos) 8. GLOW (I want it on here but not sure where to put it) 9. Grins (ft. Sky Ferreira) 10.Cloud Aura (With another badass Charli rap verse and less repetition) 11. What I Like 12.Black Roses with another verse or something so it's less repetitive 13. YOU'RE THE ONE! (with a cool little Grins outro like in the minimix) 14. Polished demo version of How Can I (with the cool whispering and the edginess that was taken out in the new version) 15. Lock You Up (with some of the live elements to it, like the breakdown at the end and whatever) 16. Killing Moon I guess tbh I wouldn't want it THAT much different... She did a great job.

Ok Illusions Of grew on me but it's still not that great in my opinion. and @@National Anthem , we have the same taste in Charli's music <3
-
Well it's 1:00 AM here soooo... 6/28 - Favorite & Least Favorite song + reasons Favorite song is really hard but I guess I'll say You're the One because it is everything I want a Charli XCX song to be sonically (forgive me if I'm using that word wrong...) and just the overall sound of it. A combination of pop and a dark edgy goth tinge. I'd say Stay Away and Lock You Up are also acceptable answers though. Least favorite is easy if we can include the really bad unreleased ones... Beach Hut In Hawaii, I Wanna Be Darth Vader... etc But if it was to be a song that she MEANT for us to hear (True Romance, Super Ultra, or Heartbreaks and Earthquakes), I'd say... Idk Moments in Love or Dance 4 U just because I never listen to them? I've had both of them stuck in my head before though.. Least favorite from True Romance is probably So Far Away. It's repetitive and it's the only song I was sick of before even hearing True Romance because it sounds exactly the same as the version she put on Heartbreaks and Earthquakes and I never thought it was amazing to begin with.
-
I really want a collab with Sky, but not necessarily a new song, tbh I just want a studio version of Grins with Sky on it...
-
I really like a few tracks on More Adventurous particularly I Never, Does He Love You, and Portions for Foxes, but never got SUPER into them. I love the Postal Service though, and Nothing Better is one of my favorite songs (As I'm sure y'all know, Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley does the female vocals).
