I follow this account daily and it’s the first time Stargirl was number 1. Her most streamed songs change from season to season (Doin’ Time and Summertime Sadness are top 5 when summer comes back) and with TikTok (Brooklyn Baby stayed top 10 - I guess the GP discovered what we knew all along about that song - The Other Woman and Dealer got there because of the same platform). Honestly, she needs another summer hit to help her chart, whether with LDR9 or somewhere down the road.

In retrospect, I like that her « being on pause albums » (the last two) were set outside California. As for Cali itself, I wouldn’t mind other albums sets there because it’s the symbol of it that I Love, and I love beach Lana (whether the songs are introspective or fun). That being said, if LDR9 is indeed inspired by the northern part of it, it could be very interesting and just enough changes to keep things interesting.

I didn’t understand the place Nectar of the Gods on BB’s tracklist until last week: all the songs starting with WFWF are about motherhood, including that one. NOTG’s chorus could be sung from the perspective of the mother getting Wild on her daughter, raging at her like it’s said she does in WFWF, and the verses are about the « hole » it created in her daughter, feeling lost.

Guitars are one thing, but it’s how they’re brought in the mix that matters most: I think many of us want a bigger sound for LDR9 and if there are guitars, they need to be proéminent and let loose a bit more than, let say, many songs on COCC (LMLYLAW has a ton of guitar… it’s just as if they were played in another room rather than the studio )

I’m mostly wondering how « far » she is in the process of this album. Is she feeling it’s coming together and she is almost done writing /recording it, or she feels like she is still in the process of it all, in the « middle ». Is there a planned release date or is it just mere « coming later later »? I know that Lana is Lana and that her creative process is very « unstable » and has its shifts, but still.

The three singles are amazing, this time of year when spring is slowly warming up. I might be a « year too late » when it comes to loving these three songs: my headspace wasn’t at all in the BB atmosphere last year when they were released (I wanted something big and fun to get out of the pandemic, and BB might have been too thoughtful at the moment). But it’s crazy how I connect with most of the songs right now, how perfect they feel.

Honestly, hats to y’alls! nfr’s almost-a-year wait for an album is the most I can take. But you suffered so much more already. My heart goes out to y’all
