I love both Norman and Chemtrails, love how her voice is the main instrument, but I want bigger production for the next one.

RCS may not have a lot of promo planned (everything is possible I guess). If it doesn’t have a lot of promo, if it doesn’t have 12000 vinyl variants, it better be a fucking strong summer album. Heavy production, summer jams à la Doin’ Time or even her collab with Jesse Rutherford. The damn June 1 date got me all excited for summery vibes, plus it’s really near my birthday

I find remarkable that she could pull off so many songs about her being artist, about stardom and fame, while making them accessible and relatable to the GP- fans (White Dress, Dark But Just a Game, Dance Till We Die, For Free and even some parts of Yosemite).

That interview is very meh. We learn nothing, except that she recorded a 11-minute poem and that on Chemtrails, she said to Jack that she wanted him to go bigger and add more twists to the end of songs. Other than that, we learn basically nothing. The journalist did specify that he asked her some questions about new music but that she remained vague on the subject.

Nobody knows for sure, we’re only speculating. Chemtrails seems to have ended with the beginning of the pandemic, but who knows when she started working on new songs that didn’t end up on COCC.

The font being confirmed by the girl who did it makes me believe it’s coming soon or soonish. I don’t think she did one for WHF during Chemtrails era; the title seems to be set in stone this time around. Both Chemtrails and RCS have very blurry timelines, which makes it very hard to confirm or not if she is done with RCS or still in the middle of it (even by her standards, to say June 1 if she is still not done would be dumb AF, but it’s not our first rodeo with her I guess).

I don’t think it’s not that she doesn’t like it, but I think she was scared of how we would receive it. Plus that album got caught short because of the pandemic; she must have felt that it wasn’t finished (although it’s one of most coherent pieces ever). RCS is probably the continuity, the second part, where she wanted to go after Chemtrails that should have been included if she had had the time to figure out where she wanted to go.

I think the whole announcement might have been a spontaneous « thank you » to fans and critics. She seemed to have been very afraid of Chemtrails’s reaction but not only is it doing super well on charts for a record with zero promo and no « real single », but everyone (or almost) applauses it without comparing too much to Norman.

I really love your enthusiasm and you make many valid points. But Sept 5 isn’t that far away in my mind and until further confirmation, I will refrain from rejoicing. I was so sure of Sept 5.

The whole announcement is weird. we know she is shit with dates and yet, why pull out a random date when we are less than 3 months from it? At this point, she must know if it’s possible or not to release on said date.

If we do get an album this summer from her, if it’s very different from Chemtrails, I’d be even down for an EP. of course, a full album would be a dream, but I’d be happy with a cohesive new piece of work, especially if it’s more in major tones than Chemtrails.

I think we have the whole « I want revenge » wrong. The more I think about it, the more I think she means that she wants her story to be told any way she wants, depicting her as « true » as possible, no matter how unpleasant or « not in the spirit of the culture » as it might be. So maybe no FU song? Dealer could be there, but also songs about being in love and wanting a man. Not UV type of breakdown.
