This is so depressing and true. We fucking need closure on this.

It’s probably just based on the tweet that some rando said he met Ben at the barricade and the song would be out in a week or two (it was the June 26 show I think). There’s no proof of that exchange and even if it’s true, maybe Ben simply meant the snippet and trailer would be out in that week (which happened for real, last week).

Maybe it doesn’t have so much to do with « her team wanting to reach a new demographics » as much as the music of NFR is « a day in the life ». I am a bit older than most of you (around Lana and Jack’s age) and the songs really have a replay value. I feel that as I get older, I understand more and more the « power » of everyday Life. Maybe this is why your moms really like the snippets so far. That and the orchestrations / production really are « classics » and won’t probably age badly.

We still have 4 songs we know nothing of. She did mention that the last part of the album had more guitar elements (maybe she meant synths, like Cinnamon?). Two of them could end up being more like VB. Or even the end of a song previewed in a snippet.

Honestly, we need both VB and MAC on NFR: they both have the guitar-surfing elements that will probably be on a couple more tracks. If they are removed, everyone will riot that this album is « filled with boring piano ballads only »

She should get going to it honestly before all her good unreleased get leaked. The Good Life comes to mind (maybe we should predict when that one will leak: we have more chance of being right )

I wonder if she's always been this messy at planning but we only fully found out now because no one forced her to do something.... With BTD, she was pretty much taking direction from her record company, same with Paradise. With UV, the leaks forced her to redo things. leaks from LFL also made her start the era sooner than she had planned. The only cohesive era that was her was HM.

I don’t feel anything. There’s been so many « false starts » that I can’t keep the hype up for too long. Almost every snippet made me think it would start for real. But look where we’re now? An August release is still possible... but she better hurry. I can’t anymore.

I get why she said it was the saddest shit she's ever written. It's brutally honest. I love it. But you have to be in a certain state of mind to listen to it. But when you are, when you feel just empty from everything, the words, her voice, the simple piano melody, everything hits hard. I can see that song on NFR, a little sister track to HIaB. And to think that of all the snippets she teased this far, this is the one I liked the least....

What gives me hope for a real release in August is that the project is finished and has been for a while. When she talked about the poetry book being released first and the top-of-the-year release of NFR, she still was in the process of doing them. She does change her mind a lot, especially when reality hits her. She must have realized that self-publishing and binding yourself a book is a lot of work. I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to release NFR first, then release Violets (or maybe I'm just projecting my own desires too much).

Her schedule is kinda unknown at the moment. There's the July 6 show in Poland and she just finished two shows in Europe. I wonder if she's still there. Plus July 4 is coming... Don't know if she'll fly back to the US to celebrate (seems unlikely though). So, she's busy and not home. I don't remember that she ever announced something album related when she wasn't in L.A. ... My expectations aren't high for an announcement before next week, to be honest.

I'm gonna go with what I call the «cusp» songs: the songs on the record or released just after it that sonically fit the next project: - Once Upon a Dream was a good dark preview of UV, Gods and Monsters also; - on UV, Is This Happiness could be on HM for the production. Fine China and Say Yes to Heaven would have been wonderful on that album as well; - I Can Fly and Big Eyes preview HM; - I'm not sure what song previewed LFL: Stargirl Interlude for the «heavier» production? On HM, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, with its campy and vintage sounds, could fit LFL. - Change fits NFR. You Must Love Me, with its minimal production, could also. Heroin and Cherry are the most UV tracks of LFL. Old Money is the most HM track of UV. High by the Beach is the most BTD track of HM.

With LFL, we knew, the week before, that we’d get the preorder and two singles. I don’t think it’s gonna drop tomorrow, without an announcement. As messy as this era is, she did announce all of her singles a couple of days before releasing them.

I don’t think that many artists own 100% of their music, honestly. If they did, nobody would need a record company and a contract, to be honest. Since BTD, Polydor / Interscope / Universal owns part of her music. She did buy back the rights to her AKA album though, when the contract was broken / over. I think Taylor’s contract was up with her previous record company before Reputation.

I don't know all the details exactly, and Taylor's situation in peculiar. But if she doesn't completely own her songs, she could be passed when it comes to future decisions for her music. Like releasing a «best of» of those songs, for which she wouldn't be able to say much if she doesn't own them (she couldn't select the ones she prefers, etc.). Same for a song that could be used for publicity or something like that. I don't know all the implications, like I said... If she doesn't get along with that guy, he might completely ignore her for future projects.

If the damn album isn’t out by August or early Sept, i don’t know what i’m gonna do. This has been fucking tiring, the push and pull game she is playing with us for more than a year. Someone give her a class on how to decently release an album.

Like I said before, it really depends on the CA song, I think. Will it get released this week or later (like in Sept-Oct, before the movie)? if the song is released in July, I don't think we'll have NFR news, except maybe the cover (and even that, it's a stretch in my mind): the soundtrack is good exposure for sure fro her, but you don't release a lead that will likely be very different from the soundtrack song so close. Like Doin' Time had its own period, the CA song probably will. But, if the CA song isn't out soon, there's still a chance this month for NFR news: cover, lead, maybe even track listing.

Well, in the LFL era, we thought she might preview or release God Bless America.. and look how that turned out. Fourth of July is like Christmas : no announcement there. Maybe before, or next week, if news are indeed planned for early July.

They did. But like with every goddamn collab, we never know for which project it was made. His record? Hers? Something else (unlikely though)?

I know he did scrap everything, I just wonder if it's really «everything, everything», including that song (I'm super biased here, but I see a Lana song as some sort of holy shit and to ask to be on his song could salvage that one from being deleted). Unless the song is bad... There was the video of Jack listening to it and I guess he was involved at some point in the project... Anyways, we'll see (it's the only fucking certainty of this era lol) Anyways, I don't think it's going to end up on NFR if it's not on his record.

So..MGK is releasing Hotel Diablo next week... Will we hear his Lana collab? I never thought I’d say this, but I’m more curious about that one than the CA’s song (pure pop, which is not bad but not my cup of tea; I usually get tired of those songs after 5 listens, plus Lana will only mumble the bridge and sing the last chorus from what we’ve heard)

Anyways, let's not forget the other theory that the preorder is coming on August 9 for a August 23 release. The album release date is weird, honestly; beginning of August for the lead makes sense.

July 2 is an approximation I guess. But within two weeks, we’ll surely get something. She has a show tonight and another one on July 6. I don’t expect a date on either one of them (anyways, weren’t both UV and HM’s release dates given in shows but then got postponed?), but maybe a new song? Or a snippet of one?

Maybe July 2 will be the day the single from Charlie’s Angels gets released... i’d Honestly prefer NFR stuff though.
