I'll say it again... The October single stands on its own, she said. Could be standalone single, could be that the song will be on the album but doesn't have a track referring to it or similar to it (unlike VB and MAC, that have the same «end of summer» feeling, and MAC refers to VB directly in the lyrics, and were released together).

I feel like the album is a «jab at the male ego» *(someone here mentioned it and it sounds genius), a collection of her past love experiences. The guy in BAR reminds me of Barrie, which she broke up with because of his depression («there was nothing left by the time we went to bed»; depressed guys aren't that great in the sack, believe my experience). The guy on VB is the writer type of guy that reminds me of the writer in Is This Happiness («You write, I tour» / «You think you're fucking Hunter S Thompson). Lana said that NFr is about a guy who tells all the time that he is great and all... Could it be G-Eazy? The guy sure has ego and I always thought she referred to him when she sang live White Mustang and added «And it wasn't even that good!» after the line «The day your record dropped.» it's only speculation here, by the way Who knows? We had heard Cherry live and didn't get it before July 21, so...

Her exact are « the song stands on its own ». Could be that it’s a standalone single out that it doesn’t have a « sister track » on the album.

I must admit that the first snippet didn’t leave in awe as HTD and HIaB did. But I kept in mind that it was only a snippet and VB wasn’t much of the song we have by the first snippet. And man!!! What a song!!! So sexy!!! This album will never come soon enough!

Honestly, with LFL, the only track we didn’t get was RBFY. Ok, it is really cruel to tease that one which was very excellent. But i’m Pretty sure we’ll get on NFR the tracks she previews with those snippetsA release date would be welcomed very soon, though :/

We have no proof of Sylvia’s existence, other than she mentioned that song titles to fans at her show (and no one recorded). Fans have been super unreliable in the past (like: « I went to her pop-up store and she said Yosemite was coming on an album in the next six months because it is too beautiful »), so I prefer sticking to the snippets we heard instead.

Kinda hope that the Cinnamon song has something coming up after the « I win » line... We were not thinking much of VB from the snippet and look how great it turned out. Maybe it’s a way to get back at all the retail sites that constantly leak the track list of her albums before she officially does so.

I’m kinda torn after hearing that snippet. It’s not bad at all, but I must say that I thought: « Another ballad? Ok. » something could pick up after the « I win part ». Plus Lana is a ballad singer mostly. This album really is gonna be calmer and more intimate. She said in interview that Her poetry book was something she was thinking of putting out only three weeks before that interview and that she wanted to have NFR released after. Maybe she’ll switch the two projects and we’ll get NFR sooner? She is teasing a bit too much once again. January is like in four months... and nobody ever confirmed it would be out in January either. I am secretly hoping for a late November or December release, even if is more fairytale thinking than a real possibility.

Have no idea what the deal is with AB, but God, can someone take her phone away from her?!?! One thing's for sure: she ain't connected to our world anymore and doesn't realize the harm she might be causing. I don't say Lana is white as snow in the matter (to wash your dirty clothes in public never is a good idea in my experience), but she never was as vicious as the other lunatic who raises the racism flag when out of arguments.

With that big feud with AB, I doubt we'll get a new single this week :/

Nan, not my style, to personally attack someone. And I got that you were joking But I share your feeling. I cannot wait for something new from Lana. I must say that on October 1, I kinda wondered if we would get that maybe single this month... At least Robyn is finally releasing something at the end of the month (that should get me waiting for two days for new Lana music lol)

I remember hearing a big «maybe» when it came to the October single, if I recall the interview correctly. But hey, with the snippet of HTD where she tagged Jack, I think it looks more certain now, ain't it? Maybe a couple of days?!? Fingers crossed

The Lana songs I don't connect with are the ones I like the least, like Carmen or even Art Deco. Both are superbly executed, but I don't have anything to relate with in my life (I am passed the 17-20 year-old girl that seeks attention). Art Deco has such cool metaphors though and I love the music, but I can't picture anyone around me who is like the girl in the song. ​I am not a big fan of many of the unreleased ones before BTD: I don't feel the "Lana persona" that much in those and she was writing from the perspective of a younger woman. To me, it's not that far from the slutty teenage bopers that sing on the radio, and I am way over that phase of my life (plus I love that Lana doesn't sound like anything else on the radio, contrary to many of her unreleased stuff).

Nan, I love 'em too. And I think it's way too early to criticize the sound of this album («too many ballads!!») when we only heard two full songs and a snippet of two others. so far, I love the intimacy and warmth of HIaB and HTD.

It's always been the «Problem» with her: how do you describe her? My best guest would be alt-pop or «songwriter pop»?! Before LFL, «sad core hollywood» would have been perfect, but with LFL and NFR, the description doesn't fit anymore. She ain't completely alternative (most alt music channels don't play her), and she ain't pop either like Taylor or Ariana or Mariah or Selena. her lyrics tell a story, and yet the melodies often follow the classic pop structure: verse 1, chorus, verse 2, chorus, bridge, chorus (not that there's something wrong with that). She dwells in so many genres with each record, which makes it almost impossible to categorize her. (The music industry in general also has some problems with the categories, since all the genres have borrowed from each other over the past 5 to 10 years).

i agree. Lana’s discography needed LFL after the calm HM and the more serene tones of NFR (at least from what we heard from it). LFL’s diversity is more over the place, but that’s how she was feeling at the moment.

I agree. As much as I love MAC, it would have been the best promo track (like HM was for the album of the same name). Love both the new snippets out (the other part of HIaB and HTD). I love how her voice is so warm and pasionate. I hope NFR has a track or two that have the same trippy vibes of VB. A complete album of those would be too much, but a couple of guitar-driven ones would balance out the piano ballads.

I hope How to Disappear isn’t prophetic: that she’ll disappear for months before NFR is released.

There really is a good chance that song will be released: it's more serious, it's October, stand on its own ( i.e. different from MAC or VB). Plus: she tagged Jack, like she did with MAc and VB before release.

I relisten to Architecture these days and if it ends up on NFR, it won't probably be the demo when it comes to her vocals. I love the lyrics (I think it's one of her strongest songs lyric wise), but her voice is a bit off, emotionless. On each and every song we heard from NFR, she sings with passion and her voice is so warm and gentle; BAR kinda lacks that warmth and passion.

The song checks all the boxes of the October single: more serious, it’s October, stands on its own (different from MAC or VB).

It’s a snippet... and who said that the whole album had to be surf noir-ish? She also said that it had a bit of surf elements.
